Talkie Tuesday: Eyes of Wakanda

"For Wakanda."

Hello everyone!

And welcome back to the MCU, featured on this blog.

I used to do a whole lot more of these posts, but I've kind of fallen off the bandwagon since then, so to speak.

Then again, I'm firmly convinced that the MCU already had its golden age during the Infinity Saga, but that's just me.

I'll definitely be seeing SOME movies still, but I'm just not as into it as I used to be, you know?

However, I love me a good anthology.

Disney Plus tends to release them every once in a while, and this one was definitely no exception to the rule.

So hold on tight as we travel through time with the Hatut Zaraze in Eyes of Wakanda!

Talkie Tuesday: The Brave

"When there's no way out - they go in."

Hello everyone!

This week, I'm shaking it up a little with my blog post, as I've not really watched a good movie in a bit (which I have to remedy, I have a list as long as my arm but have yet to get to it!) and so I'm falling back on a tested-and-tried trope!

When in doubt about movies, talk about TV shows.

Luckily for me, I'm never out of material in that corner. I watch way too many shows as is. I'm pretty sure it's my way of letting out all the tension and anxiety accumulated through day-to-day activities. Losing myself for an hour or so in someone else's problems (whether this means Arrow all over the place or S.W.A.T. kicking down doors, it's all the same) is just what the doctor ordered.

And also luckily for me, this show season (that is the 2017-18) gave me not one, not even two, but THREE military-related shows to go through.

So bring your night vision goggles and kevlar vests - first one up is The Brave.

Game of Thrones: The Spoils of War

"The Great War is here."

Hello everyone!

Thankfully, our initial heatwave seems to be over at the moment, although looking at these stormclouds that seem to be gathering I'm apprehensive for quite a different reason this time around.

But anyway.

Making sure I don't miss my weekly Game of Thrones blog, I come bearing gifts, which is the review for the fourth episode of the season, The Spoils of War! And dang, we're already past the halfway point now, only three more to go.

How fast does time fly, right?

And man, if you just look at these episodes, it's like we can never get enough, which is probably the point.

After all, there is only one Iron Throne.

Talkie Tuesday: Power Rangers

"It's morphin time."

Hello everyone!

I sincerely hope you're all enjoying the summer weather, wherever you are. I know, I know, it's hot, but then again this is what summer is supposed to be all about, right?

Besides, sooner than we know it, we'll be right back to dismal, rainy muck.

And then of course everyone's going to complain about no more summer!

But anyway, I digress.

My movie choice for tonight was one of those gambles I took, and a good friend of mine could confirm it since I spoke to her about it all right before I sat down to watch said movie. I mean, I HAVE learned by now that trusting IMDB ratings as opposed to my own opinion isn't necessarily the best thing I could possibly do (because usually, if a movie has a low rating it doesn't mean I won't like it), but with all the OTHER reviews floating about, I was hesitant. Then I was relieved I watched.

I'm talking, naturally, about the new Power Rangers movie.

Tome Thursday: Poldark 1-4

Hello everyone!

I'm picking up the pace with my reading a little bit, because even though I've been working quite a bit in the past couple of weeks, I've found that reading does in fact help me relax a whole lot more despite my initial thought that I couldn't focus on anything beside the manuals and stuff.

But all the same, some of the books I've read have been very mindless, very easy, and definitely not as time-consuming as you'd think.

Of course, there have been exceptions to this rule. After all, rules (about books) were made to be broken.

I'm a bit behind with my watching of Poldark, I have yet to see the latest episode but luckily for me, I'm actually AHEAD of BBC in terms of reading through the books. Since season two is an adaptation of books three and four, and I've finished four, I think I have quite a good jump ahead on the lot, don't you?

This blog post will briefly cover the first four books in the Poldark saga, without going into too much detail since there ARE four of them, not just one.

So, without further ado, let's get into it!

Talkie Tuesday: Poldark

"I make no apology for my actions."

Hello everyone!

I believe, at some point in these reviews and recaps, I promised that I would be doing something connected to Poldark, but decided that I was going to wait at the very least until the first half of season 2 was over.

The thing is, last year we got eight episodes (one hour each, of course) and this year, we get ten, which means I've been waiting for five weeks to get this post up!

I do absolutely adore this show. It's not even all about Aidan Turner (but let's face it, it might just be anyway), especially not this current season as he has quite a few who can compete for the ladies' hearts now! Can anyone say Doctor Enys with me, please?

That being said, this blog post won't be going into incredible length and all the microscopic details I would have gone into had I been doing one review per episode from the beginning. This one is going to be a bit more of a brief than anything else, something you can grab onto and dust off when you've taken a bit of a break, maybe, and need to get back into it before continuing the show itself.

So, without further ado, enter Poldark, season two, stage right!

Saturday Snippet: Movies I Never Finished

Hello everyone!

Every once in a while, I run into something that I would call a movie wall - that is, a proverbial wall in the form of a movie I just can't watch. So I thought I'd share a few tonight!

Queen of the Desert - the trailer for this one looked SO amazing and I was looking forward to it! But then I started watching ... and not only does Nicole Kidman not have what it takes to play an explorer daughter anymore, but I wanted to fall asleep forty minutes in. Fast-forwarding didn't help, either.

Noah - I actually don't know why I didn't finish this one. I think I got distracted by something and never got back to it. I might try it again.

Wolf of Wall Street - if I wanted to fall asleep with up above, I fell asleep half an hour into this movie. I don't get the hype, I really don't.

And on a parting note, I watched the series premiere of the MacGyver revival tonight! Not quite sure about this yet, but ... we will see.

Talkie Tuesday: Scandal (season 1)

"We're gladiators. In suits."

Hello everyone!

So.

Last time I blogged was for the finale of the Game of Thrones sixth season, and then of course I had it all planned how I was going to do a blog post on Thursday about a Sarah J. Maas book ... but then life happened and got in the way.

I took some time for a short vacation that was pretty impromptu, I'll give you that, and I have no internet connection when I AM down at the seaside, which means I sort of de-tox.

Back in civilization, however, means back to blogging!

One of my best friends has spent the past, oh I don't even know how long trying to convince me that I absolutely HAVE TO start watching Scandal. I had heard of the show before (with the awards it was picking up, I would have to be blind and deaf not to) but I didn't think it was something I'd get into, nor did I like the characters at first glance. First glance being randomly through pictures and one time when I caught the tail end of an episode on television.

That all changed during vacation.

Game of Thrones: The Door + Blood of my Blood

"Hold the door!"

Hello everyone!

So after last week's internet disaster, I'm back, and as I promised, tonight's blog post is going to combine the recaps of both the fifth and the sixth episodes of Game of Thrones (season 6, of course, let's not get ahead of ourselves here).

The reason for this being because I've promised to recap the entirety of the season as it rolled along, which means that I can't stop now, can I? I need to see this through.

Not that it's a hardship.

Every Monday night, regardless of the fact that there used to be a number of shows which aired Sunday and I could only watch them a day after (less now as most of them are on a summer break), I'd first watch the hour in Westeros just to ensure myself that all was right in the world.

I mean, honestly?

If you think you have it bad, all you have to do is watch one of those episodes; you'll be darn sure by the end of it that your life is a walk in the park compared to these guys.

Saturday Snippet

Hello everyone!

OKAY, I think I'm finally back for good. Like, with no other upcoming migrations southwise for this year, considering I think I spent more than a month in total by the seaside.

Which, in itself, is pretty awesome, but it does hamper on one's ability to be online!

I mean, okay, theoretically I COULD have been, but I think my phone bill would have been astronomical.

So yeah.

September being well and truly here (there was SO MUCH fog outside this morning, you wouldn't believe it), it's soon going to be show time!

image © to me

I might have a slight problem with the amount of shows I watch. Can you say oops? I had to colour-coordinate so I don't mistake one for another! Also, it's much easier this way because I don't have to overthink, I just look at the schedule haha. I still need to finish Teen Wolf season 5 though ... working on it!

Are you guys excited for any shows?

Talkie Tuesday: Tanked

Hello everyone!
So this week, I think I might be cheating a little bit again, and it was a hard decision to pick between two shows that I'm currently in the process of watching. In the end though, I figured I should probably finish the first season of one before I talk about it (even though it's older and people have mostly seen if already) and focus on this one first.

Then again, I might just have decided on it because it's hilarious, and everyone needs a little laugh here and there.

Many of my friends might actually think me certifiable at this point, considering the fact that, in all honesty ... well, I'd think so too if I didn't know the show, wasn't watching it, and someone told me they liked it.

I'm talking about Tanked.

Finale week, part 2

Hello everyone!

No 'Tome Thursday' tonight I'm afraid seeing as I was still catching up on the series that only finished this week, namely Dancing with the Stars and The Flash.

Let's talk dancing first. Now, last week, Derek and Nastia got eliminated, which to me was disappointing given that although I like Noah and I think he's a sweetheart, I don't think he had what it took for the finale. Also, we missed out on what would probably have been a fantastic freestyle by Derek this season, and the others were sort of lack-lustre for me. Still, I'm happy for Rumer and Val on their win, even though they were so priming the show for that, with the whole comparison to the big brother thing and mirroring what Maks had with Meryl back in season 18. Oh well, another one bites the dust!

And now The Flash. Can I just say OMG really fast? And loud? I mean ... I did NOT see that coming. Okay, first off, I didn't see the good guys actually going for Thawne's idea with the accelerator and all that, because either way HE wins, not the good guys. But I mean, drama, right? Right. I cried so bad during the goodbye scenes (Joe and Barry anyone? Anyone?!) and the scene between grown-up Barry and his mother. The FEELS! But what got me the most was Eddie. Dear, brave, heroic Eddie ... I think he was everyone's hero this week. I'm worried about the wormhole though, but we did get glimpses of what's to come, and I'm stoked because we still get to somehow see Eddie in season two. That's already been confirmed.

Also coming to a CW near you are the Legends of Tomorrow, and I can't wait for this new show season!
