Tome Thursday: Desert Oath

Hello everyone!

For my last "regular" sort of book review before we dive right into all the Christmas stuff next week, I chose another game-related title.

As you may or may not remember, I became a big fan of Assassin's Creed when I accidentally stumbled over a gameplay on Youtube. Since then, I've gotten to about three quarters of both Odyssey and Origins, and need to just buckle down to finish the lot.

Shouldn't be too difficult.

In the meantime, however, I was delighted to find that the original Assassin's Creed novel content creator, Oliver Bowden, had written a prequel for his series.

Now I've had the rest of the books on a back burner for a bit, and haven't gotten around to reading them yet, so I may do it now with the holidays looming up ahead. However, this one can be read as a standalone, and you don't need to know what goes on in the other books to understand it.

We do run into fan favourites and characters from the game, though.

Don't fall down into a sand dune, it's time for Assassin's Creed Origins: Desert Oath.

Talkie Tuesday: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

"Why is it, when something happens, it is ALWAYS you three?"

Hello everyone!

With December just around the corner (literally!) I figured it was time to do the last sort of regular movie review before I dive off the deep end and start on my Christmas movies.

Yes, like I've done for the past two years or so, I'll be devoting December reviews entirely to the Christmas theme, so after tonight, the final two movie reviews of the saga will have to wait until after New Year's and for us to return in January.

I know, I know, I had that break in October as well, why couldn't I have planned this better?

I should have. But my math failed me and I didn't really calculate how many weeks there are left in the year, so there you have it.

I plan on getting the entire movie saga on here though, so don't worry.

It may just take a little bit more time.

But, as a last huzzah before being merry and bright, let's take a look at Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Tome Thursday: My Wicked Billionaire

Hello everyone!

It's time to go back down under again!

Not exactly Australia of course, since I can't even remember the last time I read a book that happens in Australia (not counting last week's blog post topic).

No, I'm talking about the smaller of the countries down under.

It's time to return to New Zealand.

And of course, what better way to do it than with another Billionaire King?

I have to admit that this is the kind of series I truly enjoy on a whole lot of levels, because it has it all: family, friendships, romance, realism, and on top of everything else it's centered around an animal shelter, which means a lot of cute animals come through the story too!

The stories are slowly being wrapped up into a neat little present to put under our Christmas trees, so let's hop right to it, shall we?

Talkie Tuesday: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

"There's a storm coming, Harry."

Hello everyone!

You didn't think we were actually done with magic, did you?

Things are only just heating up!

This week is all about teen angst, magical spiritual connections, and a whole lot of dainty coughing when all you want to do is strangle the person who's actually doing the coughing.

You have to love it when an author comes up with a character that you hate even more than the antagonist. There's a certain kind of magic in THAT, for sure.

Last week, we were dealing with some early adolescence, but this week that's a full-blown thing, and you can't escape it, no matter how much you may want to.

And of course, there's still a heck of a lot of a lot of magic going on.

Voldemort is back, people. And so is the Order of the Phoenix.

Tome Thursday: Flash Rip

Hello everyone!

When in doubt, always turn to an author you KNOW writes well.

I have a number of contemporary romance authors I turn to when I need something to pass the time with, or just a pick-me-up after having a bad day.

One of them is Keira Andrews.

I stumbled across her work completely at random, and I didn't even really start reading right away, but once I did, you can bet that I was hunting down any and all available books by this particular author.

I think I've reviewed a bunch of them here on the blog already.

In any event, she just published her newest romance, and wouldn't you know it but it coincided rather perfectly with me wrapping up Booktober and starting regular reviews again?

Grab your surfboards, everyone, because it's time for Flash Rip.

Talkie Tuesday: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

"Everything's going to change now, isn't it?"

Hello everyone!

It’s time to return to Hogwarts yet again, and honestly, time flies, doesn’t it? Fourth year means that the students are pretty much halfway through their schooling and will soon have to consider what they want to do in life, and where they want to go.

Before that happens, however, there are some other things that need to be addressed.

After all, it wouldn’t be Harry Potter if things didn’t go wrong, right? Right.

It’s a pretty much given thing that if your name is Harry there’s a fairly good chance you’ll end up in trouble somewhere, somehow, and you’ll have to get yourself (and your friends) out of it. Like Hermione asks in the movie itself, will they EVER get a quiet year at Hogwarts?

Probably not. Let's be real.

And since this IS fourth year, let’s jump right to it, shall we?

The Goblet of Fire awaits our name.

Tome Thursday: My Wounded Billionaire

Hello everyone!

I'm BACK!

Book reviews are a thing again on this blog, though I do hope, as I hoped on Tuesday, that you've enjoyed my Booktober activity which I did last month. That does mean, however, that I'm a little bit behind on my reviews.

And by 'a little behind' I mean 'a lot behind', because I've already got a new ARC waiting for me to read it from this series, yet I haven't managed to get a proper review up for the fifth book!

Shame on me. Shame, shame, shame.

Anyway.

Considering that Serenity Woods is probably my favourite contemporary romance author (at least at the moment, but I don't see it changing any time soon) it should be a surprise to absolutely no one that I'm kicking off book reviews with another one of her books.

This time, we're headed back to the Ark, and to the King family.

Let's take a look at My Wounded Billionaire.

Talkie Tuesday: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

"I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good."

Hello everyone!

We're back to our regular posting schedule!

After a full month of nothing but book-related posts, it's kind of fun to get back to movies, even though I'm looking at my backlog at the moment and wondering how the heck I'm going to even get through all of these before December, when I have the Christmas list.

I'll probably be doing these in January still.

Sounds about right!

Anyway, I'm not sure if you guys remember, but the last time we were in movie land, we were trying to learn magic and how to transfigure a mouse into a needle. Or, alternately, we were trying to figure out how a snake can possibly slither through plumbing when it didn't even know plumbing existed.

You know I'm talking about Harry Potter.

And it's now time to add extra flavour in a Prisoner of Azkaban.

Booktober Finale

ALRIGHT.

We made it! 31 days, 31 (and more) books, and Booktober is officially over for this year. I really enjoyed it, I thought it would be a kind of different take on the month and doing something new on the blog, so I may bring it back next year, but we'll see what happens honestly. It was definitely a nice break from the usual two massive blog posts per week, but I also kind of miss those, so I'll be happy to get back to them haha.

Happy All Saint's Day if you observe it wherever you are, and I'll see you all in my next blog post!
