Game of Thrones: The Long Night

"We must fight together now ... or die."

Hello everyone!

We made it. Sort of.

The Night King came and we mostly made it, so I suppose the day after is the time to count our losses, look and see just who it was that survived to fight another day, and figure out what in the seven hells went wrong.

Is anyone saying 'but nothing went wrong?'

HaHA. Sweet summer children.

A lot of things went wrong.

Still, at the end of the day, it was a cinematografic 80 minutes that HBO dished out for us, and for that I am truly thankful. With only three more episodes to go, it's coming to an end of an era, so I'm feeling bitter-sweet.

That being said, however, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Or misopinions.

So make sure to grip that dragonglass, and have a torch ready. The Long Night is upon us.

Tome Thursday: Catching Hell

Hello everyone!

This. This is what happens when I run out of time.

I resort to reading novellas because my full-length books are sitting there and staring at me accusingly because I have all of them sort-of-read, but not really.

Honest to goodness, I have novels in the works, people.

I swear!

But ... life happens. And it doesn't usually ask if I'd like it to play nice or anything.

Not that it was anything alarming, just things piling up on things and in the end I had to sacrifice something to keep a sane head on my shoulders, which basically means that this week's book blog post has gotten the short stick.

And I apologise.

However, it's not THAT bad. The book was actually entertaining enough to read!

I just never thought I'd find myself reading anything like Catching Hell.

Game of Thrones: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

"We must fight together now ... or die."

Hello everyone!

Winter is here.

No, I mean, it's LEGIT HERE.

Not many people have missed the second episode of the Game of Thrones final season this weekend/Monday (depending where you live), so I'm going to bet that pretty much everyone knows what I'm talking about .

After all, there's really only one Night King.

And he means business.

With basically a third of the season already over (ZOINKS!) you best believe that it's not going to ease up any time soon.

There's too many people still alive, after all.

Brace yourselves and sound the horns; A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has arrived.

Tome Thursday: Prisoner of Night

Hello everyone!

Now that we've mostly gotten over our OHSH*T moments during the Game of Thrones premiere, it's time to do a little bit of a book review yet again. After all, that's what Thursday's are for!

And I'm back with yet another vampire book.

Because, vampires.

I have this binge I occasionally go on where I will read through every book I can reach within a certain genre or maybe even just series, and right now I'm working through J. R. Ward's books yet again, but I found time to catch up on the short story she published right before The Savior hit the shelves.

If it's vampire, it has Black Dagger Brotherhood over the cover, and it features some new characters of this world? Count me in!

Besides, there's never enough of the Warden to go around.

So Prisoner of Night, please be seated, and let's start your interview, shall we?

Game of Thrones: Winterfell

"We must fight together now ... or die."

Hello everyone!

IT'S HERE.

WE MADE IT.

Almost two years after season seven wrapped up, season eight of Game of Thrones has finally landed.

And boy, is it promising to be a whopper.

We've only really seen the introductory first hour to the last six episodes HBO will give us of this narration (the prequels and sequels and whatever else they cook up don't count at the moment), but already, things are gearing up. An exposition of a premiere, we've pretty much set it all.

How did Gandalf put it?

The board is set. The pieces are moving.

It's time to call the banners and pull out your dragonglass. Winter is here.

Tome Thursday: The Savior

Hello everyone!

I'm back with a non-Star Wars book review, can you believe it?

I hardly can myself.

It's been a bit of a ride for me, traipsing through the galaxy far, far away, and I know I'll return over there eventually again, but maybe not quite so soon. I have a few other books on the list that have been BOUNCING around, trying to get my attention.

Although the item of tonight's blog post didn't need to do anything.

It sort of only had to get published.

Readers of this blog might know and recall my almost-undying love for the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J. R. Ward, and the fact that I've pretty much reviewed ... about half ot the books so far? Did I get to half? More?

Anyway.

When it was announced that Murhder was getting his own book, I was HELLA intrigued. Because he's the only insane Brother, and has been name-dropped all over the place. So with The Savior, we finally get to hear his story.

Talkie Tuesday: Love on the Menu

"Love is the number one ingredient in any dish."

Hello everyone!

You're probably wondering if I'll ever watch anything not Hallmark-related in the near future.

I promise, I do have some other movies lined up! But the thing is, Hallmark has somehow reorganised their channel so that they literally have something for every season at this point, and out of those, I generally watch about half their movies. Not always and definitely not all of them, but certainly a lot!

Still, this blog post is a last huzzah, in a way, for movies for the next little while.

Because starting next Tuesday, April 16th, I'll be doing weekly Game of Thrones reviews, for the very last time.

That's right, the final season is almost here, guys!!!

So before we strap on our swords and grab the dragonglass we need to fight off the White Walkers and the Night King, let's try something tasty on for size first as a sort of goodbye, shall we?

Love on the Menu is exactly right for that.

Tome Thursday: Queen's Shadow

Hello everyone!

Sooo I kind of lied. The last time I reviewed a Star Wars-related book, I mean.

I said, and don't quote me directly on this, but I said something along the lines of 'I need a break from the galaxy far, far away'.

And then I went and dived right back into said galaxy, only a little before the books I'd been reading.

Maybe I didn't need to take a Star Wars break.

Maybe I just needed a New Republic break.

That makes some sense to me as I can feel reluctance in trying to start something New Republic-related at the moment - three books in a row are quite enough for now - but actual excitement and enthusiasm for potential OLD Republic books.

I'm a complicated person.

And I survived the latest Shadowhunters episode, which means that I can dive into Queen's Shadow with gusto.

Talkie Tuesday: A Brush With Love

"Don't focus on thinking; focus on feeling."

Hello everyone!

This is me emotionally preparing myself for the new Shadowhunters episode. I DON'T THINK I'M READY, Y'ALL.

I've seen some previews and I already wanted to bawl and so I KNOW I'm going to be crying my eyes out like some sort of rom-com addict, and it's not even rom-com. UGH. This last season, people, this last season is going to slay us.

Ahem.

Moving on from the land of perpetual tears and angelic runes, I have another Hallmark movie review for you tonight because I've found that their Spring Fever is actually SUPER good this year.

Or maybe I've somehow gotten used to the pattern? But I don't think so, because I'm such a logical, reasonable person that I tend to snarl like a dragon in a pinch if I feel like it's all just ridiculous. And nothing has been ridiculous so far.

Whether or not this lasts remains to be seen, but for now, let's get our paint and easels for A Brush With Love.
