Tome Thursday: Virgins

Hello everyone!

Yes, I'm on a sort of Outlander binge, and not just with the television show.

I've been re-reading the books (although in random order since I went with The Fiery Cross, then doubled back to Outlander, and now I'm chewing through Dragonfly in Amber while contemplating starting Voyager instead) and of course the series includes the massive chonks as well as the shorter novellas, and Lord John Grey stories.

I'm telling you, people: you have not lived until you've witnessed the chaos that is Grey's life on a daily basis. I HIGHLY recommend that series.

I still have to review them all on here, and I swear I will!

Meanwhile, I sat down to a prequel yesterday.

I'd known that Diana Gabaldon had written a sort of story-before-the-story covering Jamie's time in France, or part of it at least, and I'd been dying to read it for a while now but never got the chance.

Of course we're in quarantine now, so what else is there to do but catch up?

And you're definitely catching up with Virgins.

Tome Thursday: Morrighan

Hello everyone!

I'm reviewing something different this week, and something that I'm a little late to reading to begin with, based on the publication date.

And while I'm still sitting on The Sinner from J. R. Ward (I'm getting there, I just ... I have to make myself do it, first), I picked up this novella at random because I'm OCD enough that if there's a book that's said to be happening BEFORE a main series, then I want to read it in chronological, not publication order.

From what I've managed to gather, a lot of people seem to think this novella should be read between some of the main books, but it's so short that I won't really have an issue picking it up again if need arises.

For the time being, I was just happy to be able to dive into a completely new world.

Mary E. Pearson is an author I haven't had the chance to read much of yet, but her Remnant Chronicles have been popping up on reviews from some of the Booktubers I follow, and it felt like sort of a sign.

If everyone else is talking about it, it deserves at least a look-see, right?

So here we go. Listen to the wind, everyone, and let's follow the Morrighan.

Tome Thursday: Prisoner of Night

Hello everyone!

Now that we've mostly gotten over our OHSH*T moments during the Game of Thrones premiere, it's time to do a little bit of a book review yet again. After all, that's what Thursday's are for!

And I'm back with yet another vampire book.

Because, vampires.

I have this binge I occasionally go on where I will read through every book I can reach within a certain genre or maybe even just series, and right now I'm working through J. R. Ward's books yet again, but I found time to catch up on the short story she published right before The Savior hit the shelves.

If it's vampire, it has Black Dagger Brotherhood over the cover, and it features some new characters of this world? Count me in!

Besides, there's never enough of the Warden to go around.

So Prisoner of Night, please be seated, and let's start your interview, shall we?

Tome Thursday: Where the Heart Is

Hello everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who celebrate it! For my part, living on the old continent, we didn't necessarily ever need to have any kind of turkey salvation situation, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the holiday just as much as you do, because unlike some, we actually studied about these holidays at university.

That being said, however, Thanksgiving also marks the starting point for all the December holiday festivities, which means that this year, while not doing blogmass, I will definitely be doing some more holiday-oriented book blogs.

I've accumulated quite a few stories I want to share with you in the next four weeks, not to mention the fact that I got more than twenty of them in e-format from Kobo for a steal.

Like, really, my country NEEDS to figure out the deal with these e-books, because they currently still sell them at the same price as the actual printed copies. And while some of the worldly ones are about the same in terms of price, most of the electronic books can be bought at much cheaper rates.

But I digress! Onward to my review of Where the Heart Is, by Darcy Burke.

Tome Thursday: Shadow Titan

Hello everyone!

Yes, I am BACK with another Lizzy Ford book, or novellette, or novella, or short story, whatever you want to call it!

I'm always so excited when I open up my email account and see that the ARC arrived, it's been such a fun experience so far because it's so incredibly different for me and something out of the ordinary, but I love the anticipation and the feeling of knowing something's coming at the beginning of the month which I can look forward to!

Especially with this one, because, with each short story I get sucked into the world of Theta, more and more, I'm not going to lie.

I thought it was amazing when I read Silent Queen, and then it was awesome when Mercenary rolled around, but now it's time for the second-to-last, Shadow Titan, and honestly, let's not waste too much time with introductions!

Because the story is too gripping to ignore.

Tome Thursday: Mercenary

Hello everyone!

Time for another book blog post, and I was so thrilled when I got the email from Lizzy Ford's camp with the attached ARC of the novellete I'll be talking about tonight. I've been waiting for that for what felt like ages, even though in realizy I know it wasn't haha!

I'm just super excited to learn more about these awesome characters.

Not to mention, it's all about being Greek, even when these particular Greeks are in our modern world right now, their gods are still around, and the whole world has basically gone to Hell in a handbasket since the last time we checked - and no, I don't think Hades would actually be happy about that. He always complains about too much traffic in the Underworld!

I will admit, I got that last line from Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson books, because let's be honest and say that they are one of the main reasons why Greek Mythology is as interesting as it is right now.

Back to the topic at hand, however, I'll stop babbling and actually start this review of Mercenary which, if you haven't figured it out yet, is about Niko.

Tome Thursday: Silent Queen

Hello everyone!

I am SO excited for this blog post, you have no idea!

So a while ago, I sort of accidentally stumbled over Lizzy Ford's book 'Omega', because I think it popped up in my suggestions list on Goodreads. I may be wrong, but I think that was the case. In any event, however, I initially got it because it had an intriguing premise (Greek Gods in the modern world? An Oracle? Sign me up!), and I'd just been coming off a Percy Jackson high.

Yeah, you can probably see some resemblance there.

So I got the book and I put it aside for a bit since I was reading a lot of different things at the time, but then after I finished Percy Jackson for who knows what number of times, I was still itching for more Greek.

That was when I picked up the book, and I have to say, I haven't looked back since; I'm pretty much devouring any Lizzy Ford book I can get my hands on!
