Talkie Tuesday: The Royal We

"You are the author of your own story."

Hello everyone!

And welcome back to a Hallmark movie blog.

I know, it's been a while!

I had a full on faze for a while where the ONLY thing I'd watch were Hallmark movies, but then I got over-saturated and I stopped.

Now, I'll still watch one every once in a while, but for the most part I've moved on.

I was kind of hooked on the trailer for tonight's movie of choice, however, mostly because of the wardrobe depicted within that reminded me VERY strongly of Catherine, Princess of Wales.

And turns out I was right in that it IS quite reminiscent of it!

But the movie itself falls kind of in the middle of the scales, neither horrible nor good, so without further ado let's have a look at The Royal We.

Talkie Tuesday: Romance with a Twist

"The moment you wanna quit is the moment you've gotta just keep pushing even harder."

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to another movie review, and yet again we've chosen one of Hallmark's.

Why?

Well, because every once in a while, for the most part, I kind of wander back to my old ways (the days when I would watch copious amounts of Hallmark Channel movies aren't that far behind me yet!) and want to see whether or not there've been any changes.

There haven't, not that many in any event, but at the very least things are pretty amusing for the most part.

That was what happened this past Sunday as I was picking a movie to watch for Tuesday's blog. And the only real reason I chose it was because I'm intrigued by the whole, dancing around on silks thing, as well as Jocelyn Hudon, who I feel is a magnificent find to stardom.

I just can't wait to see her in more cinematic pieces!

Until then, without further ado, let's have a look at Romance with a Twist.

Talkie Tuesday: Paging Mr. Darcy

"There are Darcys in the world, after all."

Hello everyone!

And welcome to a little something that I was actually kind of looking forward to, not that I advertised it much.

See, Hallmark has been a staple for me ever since I started this blog, way back when.

And earlier, too.

I can vividly remember some of the earliest movies that launched once this service came into being (still looking for one in particular that I can't seem to find no matter what, but I'll get there!), and since then, it's become a bit of a powerhouse in churning out flicks to watch.

This year, they decided to treat February as their own Jane Austen month, and wouldn't you know it, but I LOVE Austen, too. So a match made in heaven, then!

I might watch some of their other things as well, but to begin with, we'll be looking at something rather fun: Paging Mr. Darcy.

Talkie Tuesday: The Secret Gift of Christmas

"It's not presents, but our presence that matters most for Christmas."

Hello everyone!

What is this, new devilry?

I am in fact channeling my inner Boromir here, because in my experience from seasons past, I have never, and I mean NEVER watched THREE Christmas movies in a row from Hallmark and liked all of them so much as I have this year.

Now don't get me wrong.

Hallmark has more hits than misses but, with so many holiday flicks in their seasonal programming block, and this being their biggest of all the fiscal year - I mean Countdown to Christmas, of course - there's bound to be stuff that just doesn't mesh well.

Not this time though.

And isn't THAT just something else?

The Secret Gift of Christmas just comes in and keeps on giving!

Talkie Tuesday: My Norwegian Holiday

"It's a good thing I don't believe in fate.

Hello everyone!

And welcome, once again, to the Christmas extravaganza that's been a part of this blog for, oh, many, many years now.

Like in previous seasons, each year I choose movies and books specifically themed around Christmas to read, watch and review for you on here, and most of the time we even have plenty of hits (even if we have a couple of misses along the way too).

Tonight's choice is no different.

Somehow, I've been lucky, because I usually manage to hit the jackpot with the first choice each year, and this one's no exception.

Of course I also always (or almost always) turn to Hallmark to provide all my holiday celebratory movies, so it should come as no surprise that that's where tonight's choice is from.

Countdown to Christmas on this blog begins right now, with My Norwegian Holiday!

Talkie Tuesday: Long Lost Christmas

"Love's a risk, but it's the one thing that makes life worth living."

Hello everyone!

We only have a few days left until Christmas ACTUALLY arrives.

How crazy is that?!

I have no idea where the time has gone, but I'll say this: it obviously had a VERY good time, all things considered.

There's only about ten days left before the year turns as well, and I'm over here thinking to myself how and where.

But me maudlin will certainly not make this blog post write itself now, will it?

I've decided to finish off my Christmas movie marathon with the segment of Hallmark that I tend to enjoy more than Countdown to Christmas, which is Miracles of Christmas.

I don't know, the mysteries seem to get me!

And Long Lost Christmas might not have fired on all cylinders, but it definitely fired on some.

Talkie Tuesday: Time for Him to come Home for Christmas

"When you're truly meant for someone, it's never too late to get it right."

Hello everyone!

Back for the second week of our Christmas movies, and we once again have what I'd consider a winner.

I think I've picked really good ones thus far this year, if I'm being honest.

And I've noticed, for my part, that I seem to have outgrown the old, girl goes home to small town for Christmas and meets her ex there again to rediscover the magic, trope.

Or maybe I just haven't found a good one with that this year yet.

Either way, tonight's movie choice is another really spectacular one, and it's actually part of Miracles of Christmas, which is the second programming batch that Hallmark usually puts out every year leading up to the holidays.

I picked it because of it's leading man, I'll admit, but it turns out the entire thing is really quite beautiful.

Time for Him to come Home for Christmas has a mouthful of a name, but I can assure you that it's really quite lovely.

Talkie Tuesday: The Royal Nanny

"Love always triumphs in the end."

Hello everyone!

And welcome.

Welcome, officially, to the December weeks of movie blog posts in which I take the time to look at what this holiday season has to offer us.

Thus far, we're looking at a pretty darn good start all in all!

Last week, we started with the book review, which we thoroughly enjoyed, and this week, well.

This week is a VERY good movie, shall we say.

I wasn't entirely sure whether or not it would be, given Hallmark occasionally has moments when you're wondering who in their right mind approved a script like that, but I can't say much about this one.

In fact, I was VERY pleasantly surprised!

The Royal Nanny took a fairly traditional story and stood it on its head. And I loved it!

Talkie Tuesday: Next Stop, Christmas

"Wouldn't it be nice if we could turn back the clock and do it all over again?"

Hello everyone!

I can't believe we only have one more Talkie blog post left after this one in December. Where did the time ACTUALLY go?!

I've no idea.

I feel like occasionally it seems to roll by super slowly, but then you blink and you miss like, half a month or something.

Or maybe it's just me. Is it just me, or is it anybody else?

Anyway, that aside, it's time to watch one of my favourite Christmas movies to come out of the Hallmark lineup this year, if not THE favourite thus far. And I'll be honest and say that I clipped and pared down my list until it was a manageable ten or so, because boy oh boy, did I not have the time.

This one, however, hits all the right spots somehow.

And how appropriate that we take a look at it now, since Next Stop, Christmas, is literally the next stop for us all?

Talkie Tuesday: South Beach Love

"Sometimes two ingredients may not look like they go together,

but just give it a chance and it might surprise you."

Hello everyone!

As we move further and further into autumn (we'll be transitioning into daylight saving time soon!) I find myself eyeing Hallmark's movie schedule more and more, because lo and behold they're headed right into Christmas-ville already.

I can understand them, in a way. That particular holiday makes up about half of their yearly production and they need to make sure everything they make gets out to the audience.

But come ON. Starting mid-October and never really having any Halloween movies is a bit much, even for Hallmark!

Still, it is what it is, and maybe at that point I'll end up watching other movies instead of what they have in their lineup, because as of right now I still make sure to double check the schedule and then work through if I want or don't want to watch it.

Tonight's topic was on the want to watch list because of the two leads, and I have to say I'm not regretting it, but there were definitely some interesting choices made in the movie.

South Beach Love, coming up!

Talkie Tuesday: Taking the Reins

"Sometimes you have to step away from something to realize how much you love it."

Hello everyone!

Okay, OKAY.

I did sort of imply I would be watching the new Cinderella movie, but then I got side-tracked by a commercial for the new Hallmark Channel Fall Harvest release, and of course I ended up watching that instead.

Sorry Cindy, I'll be seeing you soon, I promise.

Maybe.

But I'll admit Hallmark is my guilty pleasure, though I also make sure I don't start watching their Christmas programming until way after November 15th, considering starting mid-October, while it might make sense for them as this is their biggest flagship, makes zero sense for me. I need it to at least SMELL like Christmas before I watch those movies!

Anyway, I digress.

Tonight's blog post is all about horses and finicky women, in Taking the Reins.

Talkie Tuesday: Roadhouse Romance

"A bad thing can take you to a good place."

Hello everyone!

When fall starts to show its colours, I start looking at the Hallmark fall releases, because, well that's just who I am.

Gotta get into the spirit, right?

Right!

But I will admit we've basically had an Indian summer over here right now for some time, so it's been a little bit difficult to try and see how this is going to suddenly turn into the usual, rainy, grey-ish and misty land that we know.

However, weather report does say temperatures seem to be dropping after the official first day of fall, so we'll see!

And thus my first fall movie blog can actually make an appearance without the need to feel silly about it, even if I probably COULD have watched one of the remaining summer ones.

But Roadhouse Romance wanted to be seen, so here we are!

Talkie Tuesday: Sweet Revenge

"It could be nothing ... but it could be something."

Hello everyone!

See what's happened?

Yep, I'm back on that Hallmark channel grind, as I always seem to be as the fall months start coming in and whatnot, though I will admit I might have chosen some other movie to wrap up the summer blogs with.

However, I'd been waiting to watch this particular one for some time so I figured, why the heck not?

I enjoyed the original series and am looking forward to see what this new rebrand looks like; originally, it was called Murder, She Baked, which was a cute play on Murder, She Wrote, but for some reason the channel execs have decided to go for Hannah Swensen Mysteries from now on.

To be clear, as long as we GET some new mysteries, I'm down for it being called whatever.

I feel like this used to be a staple in programming, and I'm really happy it's back.

Talkie Tuesday: Her Pen Pal

"The real triumph is not in the final product - it's in the journey."

Hello everyone!

You'll never believe what happened this weekend.

Or maybe you will, who knows?

Either way, what happened was I watched a Hallmark channel movie from this year's lineup - and I actually really, REALLY liked it.

This is a monumental thing, because I haven't really enjoyed any of their productions this year yet, not the way I have in the past.

I don't know what it is, whether I've finally reached my limit or what, but the movies just aren't as good anymore, in my opinion at least, and they come across as even more ridiculous in terms of plot twist twenty minutes before the end than they would normally do.

But this weekend, they FINALLY delivered.

And it's apt, because the movie was Her Pen Pal.

Talkie Tuesday: You Had Me at Aloha

"You have to learn how to be a team player."

Hello everyone!

Since I'm usually not as on time with my reviews in comparison with when, specifically, certain movies and books release, this should be a pleasant surprise for just about everyone.

See, I'm good about it with some of them, but for the most part usually join the bandwagon only AFTER everything's already over, but there ARE instances in which I actually pay attention, and this was one of them over the weekend.

Hallmark is implementing some changes to the way it does things and to some of its roster, but luckily they also know which actors really draw in the crowd.

And when you have a tried-and-true formula, you got to stick to it.

Besides, everyone and their mother wants to see some foreign parts nowadays with the pandemic, so stopping in beautiful Hawaii sounds like a good idea to me!

You Had Me at Aloha is definitely worth a watch for that alone.

Talkie Tuesday: Sweet Carolina

"Sometimes things don't go as planned."

Hello everyone!

So as you know, my general interest in Hallmark channel movies tends to show its face every once in a while because, really, as if I don't have OTHER movies I have yet to catch up on.

Sure I do.

Hallmark is just conveniently right there all the time.

To be fair though I could just not watch some, but that hasn't happened yet and I doubt it will, so here we go yet again.

Tonight's movie is actually the first one I was KINDA okay with overall, which is a spectacular bump upwards from the rest of them this 2021 movie year when they've generally disappointed me thus far for some reason.

And yet not even this one was completely acceptable, at least not to me, but maybe I'm becoming too picky or something.

Sweet Carolina, here we go.

Talkie Tuesday: Don't Go Breaking My Heart

"Broken hearts do heal."

Hello everyone!

I am back to my regularly scheduled movie reviews each Tuesday, now that Men in Kilts has ended and there is no more show episode in sight.

But I'm still in the throes of Hallmark films, because reasons LOL.

To be fair I've sort of picked out my favourites from the lineup they have this year, and I will say I think said lineup is actually much shorter and the choices narrower because of the pandemic, but it might just be my imagination.

In any event, however, there does seem to be less to choose from, and I choose every other weekend or so.

Mostly because this year has been a disappointment in movie choices, to say the least. Hallmark is either losing its magic for me or something else is happening! Who knows.

I'm just not as enamoured with everything as much as I used to be, though I will admit that there are still exceptions.

I just can't decide where Don't Go Breaking My Heart falls.

Talkie Tuesday: It Was Always You

"You don't regret the things you do - you regret the things you don't do."

Hello everyone!

I'm taking a mini break from what our two favourite Scotsmen were doing this weekend (hint: it has to do with sheep) because I kind of haven't had the time to catch up on the show yet.

BUT.

I did actually watch a movie not too long ago, another Hallmark production as a matter of fact, which I thought could be an interesting topic for discussion.

To be fair, however, Hallmark hasn't exactly vowed me this calendar year yet, which is kind of funny and sad at the same time since I usually find at least one or two movies up until this point which I genuinely enjoy and giggle over.

Alas, not in 2021, it seems.

It Was Always You promised a heck of a lot, but to me personally didn't deliver.
