Tome Thursday: Queen's Hope

Ahem.

 

Haha, it's actually already the fifth on my end BUT, given that the blog post is only a day late from the actual date of it, I figured a Star Wars-themed book wouldn't be completely off-topic, would it?

 

So here we are.

 

When it was announced that there would actually be a third one in this particular lineup, I was very excited.

 

Mostly because it's about pretty much my favourite character of the galaxy.

 

However, of the previous two, I only REALLY enjoyed the first one, while the second was floundering a little, or so I felt.

 

So while I was excited, I was hesitant, and turns out my hesitation proved correct. But let's stop waffling and look at Queen's Hope, shall we?

 

Tome Thursday: Queen's Peril

Hello everyone!

Wouldn't you know it, I'm back with another story from the galaxy far, far away.

You didn't think I'd left it ALL behind, did you?

I was only waiting for another awesome release.

A lot of people will argue (and do argue actually) that the post-Disney era is garbage, and I respectfully disagree with that. At least this post-Disney era gives us books focusing on some of the characters we've been dying to hear more about!

Plus I read books not by the era they were published in, but by what interests me at the time.

And a book about Padmé Amidala is ALWAYS going to win my good graces.

When it was announced that E.K. Johnston would be writing a prequel, or basically just another Padmé story, I was beyond thrilled.

Because character-driven stories like Queen's Peril are what we need.

Tome Thursday: Queen's Shadow

Hello everyone!

Sooo I kind of lied. The last time I reviewed a Star Wars-related book, I mean.

I said, and don't quote me directly on this, but I said something along the lines of 'I need a break from the galaxy far, far away'.

And then I went and dived right back into said galaxy, only a little before the books I'd been reading.

Maybe I didn't need to take a Star Wars break.

Maybe I just needed a New Republic break.

That makes some sense to me as I can feel reluctance in trying to start something New Republic-related at the moment - three books in a row are quite enough for now - but actual excitement and enthusiasm for potential OLD Republic books.

I'm a complicated person.

And I survived the latest Shadowhunters episode, which means that I can dive into Queen's Shadow with gusto.

Tome Thursday: The Wrath and the Dawn

Hello everyone!

So a long time ago, in blog terms that is, I wrote a post regarding a retelling of Arabian Nights, this one being titled A Thousand Nights. And then, what I promised myself and anyone who really reads this blog, was that I was going to read The Wrath and the Dawn and compare the two books side by side, or at the very least point out differences and similarities.

That being obviously other stuff besides the retellings of Arabian Nights, of course.

And then what I did was conveniently forget about the lot of it, meaning I didn't get around to actually even reading this book until very recently, and go figure but when I went to check on when exactly I wrote the first blog, it was six months ago.

I really do ace these things, I know I do.

Now, that being said, I have to mention I'm a big fan of Arabian Nights - in fact, I actually have a gilded book in Slovene of one translated version of the thing, which is so huge I need to sit down when I'm reading it.

Yeah, you could probably whack someone over the head with the hardcover and they'd drop. Nifty weapon of choice!

Tome Thursday: A Thousand Nights

Hello everyone!

Apparently, I have so many books reviewed in my little notebook that I'm covered until way after New Year's. That's pretty awesome, isn't it?

But then, I've always been a pretty voracious reader, it didn't matter what was happening around me at the time. Reading was my escape, even if it was just ten pages per day on a really busy one, or just enough to tire me out and have my head drop after a long day of exams when I couldn't unwind and was too keyed up to sleep.

And the best part of this is that I've started a couple of series and have definitely not finished all of them yet! So there's still a whole lot more on the book front to go, which I am very excited about.

Of course, every time I think I'm done, a friend of mine suggests another book or another book series, and I'm like MUST. READ. NOW. 

Yeah, I'm a bit of a monster.

But I found A Thousand Nights by EK Johnston on Youtube through Sasha's channel.
