Talkie Tuesday: Rebel Moon The Scargiver

"To stand and die for a place to call home.

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to this next installment in the Rebel Moon saga.

I won't say these movies are the best that have ever been made, but they're definitely entertaining - although of course, if you know they were directed by Zack Snyder, there's a good chance there's some director cuts out there ...

Like with these.

I still need to watch THOSE, and I might just wrap up these blogs with thoughts on those two, but for the time being it's just the regular movies, and what I think about them.

Namely, however, my chief thought here is that these NEED to be watched literally one after another, otherwise you'll likely forget what's happened as the second picks up exactly where number one leaves off to begin with ...

So let's not dally, and have a look at The Scargiver.

Talkie Tuesday: Rebel Moon A Child of Fire

"Who among you is willing to die for what we believe in,

rather than hide behind it?"

Hello everyone!

Tonight, we're sailing into uncharted waters, or, possibly skies?

Skies. Definitely skies.

I'll admit that it took me forever to actually sit down and watch this movie, despite the fact that it's been on my list from pretty much the moment it launched. What can I say, I'm a sucker for space opera of any kind, notice that I've been watching Star Wars and Star Trek in every and all iterations since they launched, pretty much?

So you could say this is my kind of jam, honestly.

And in all fairness, it was actually pretty decent to watch, all things considered.

Not that I often listen to what critics are saying, because usually they're miles from what I'll end up watching, but still.

Buckle your seatbelts, because tonight we're flying into Rebel Moon's part one: A Child of Fire!

Talkie Tuesday: Tales of the Underworld

"Don't be afraid - be ready."

Hello everyone!

Welcome to another tale out of the galaxy far, far away.

Tonight's choice is third in this new format Disney's been producing for a little bit now - or well, I say third, but it's actually been since 2008 with The Clone Wars that things have been in motion.

Every once in a while, they take a look at someone who's not necessarily a Skywalker, too.

Or a Kenobi, come to think of it.

Tonight, we're headed back into the belly of the beast to look at two of the fandom's favourite characters, who're potentially either morally grey, or straight up evil, depending how you look at it.

When all's said and done though, they're awesome characters and it's no wonder the fans love them so.

Without further ado, let's take a look at Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld!

Talkie Tuesday: Mohenjo Daro

"To fight injustice is justice itself."

Hello everyone!

We continue - or we return, depending on how you look at it - to the Bollywood obsession that's currently happening with me.

And I know it's probably unbearable. I'm sorry!

But here we are, and here we'll stay for the foreseeable future.

... or at least, until I run out of good movies to watch, I suppose.

Right now, for tonight, we're taking a look at a movie which features a young man, a farmer, dreaming and yearning for something beyond his narrow horizon, but his uncle won't let him spread his wings to fly further than what he knows.

If you think this is Star Wars, you'd be wrong, although the premise is wildly similar - almost identical.

In fact, this is a 2016 BC kind of story, with no Death Star or Darth Vader in sight. This is Mohenjo Daro.

Talkie Tuesday: Tales of the Empire

"Long live the Empire.

Hello everyone!

Let darkness reign, let hearts quiver, and let us take a look at some of what went down during the reign of probably one of the most-known Empires the fictional world has ever seen.

I'm talking, of course, about the GALACTIC Empire, ruled by none other than Darth Sidious.

Back in 2022, Disney graced us with the animated Tales of the Jedi, and everyone around the world rejoiced.

Then they dropped the absolutely spectacular news that in 2024, we'd be seeing the OTHER side of the coin.

Aka, the Dark Side.

As if anyone would need any MORE invitation to watch this May 4th; hide your Force sensitivity, and let's have a look at Tales of the Empire.

Talkie Tuesday: Ahsoka

"May the Force be with you."

Hello everyone!

This week, we take a look at what wrapped the week before.

I'm even on time with this, can you believe it?

Usually, I'm absolute RUBBISH trying to keep up with things, but episodic shows releasing weekly are actually my jam.

It's what I enjoyed watching all through my university years and what we were always used to seeing on our TV screens, honestly, so this whole binge culture is completely anathema to me.

I don't binge. LOL. That's not my style.

But I DO often travel to a galaxy far, far away, because their stories tend to always engage me on some level.

And while people are calling this the Mandoverse, I prefer calling it Filoniverse.

So bring your popcorn and your sarcasm, because we're hitching a ride on the Ghost to see what Ahsoka has in store!

Talkie Tuesday: The Rise of Skywalker

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ...

Hello everyone!

Well.

You can get it off your chest right now. I'm pretty sure everyone who's actually wanted to watch these movies has seen this film way, WAY before me.

In my defense, I was so mad after Episode VIII, that when they announced and released the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, I steadfastly and staunchly refused to touch it with a ten foot pole.

Yep, that's the entire plot and reasoning behind why I'm only reviewing this one now.

But since finishing up the Jurassic movies last week, I realized this would be hanging around my neck like some sort of dead weight, dragging me down, and so here we are.

And I have to admit ... I didn't hate it, nor did I not like it as much as I was afraid I might.

It's definitely not a masterpiece, though.

The Rise of Skywalker, plagued by the problems of its predecessor, does its best, but ultimately can't fully restore our faith in these movies.

Talkie Tuesday: The Mandalorian

"This is the way."

Hello everyone!

And I hope you've enjoyed the ride which Disney+ was so happy to arrange for us over the past two months together.

Of course there's people out there who are unhappy and a ton of rumours are bopping around.

It happens with anything and everything these days. Social media and the internet in general seem to be starved and take even just someone casually turning their head to the very next level of OHMYGOD THEY'RE GOING XYZ!!!

I swear I sometimes think I'm living in Bizarro world.

BUT that said, I know I absolutely loved the past two months, and can't believe they're already over.

How does time fly by SO fast?!?

So without further ado, let's not waste any more of it. Because we have a lone gunslinger in the wild, wild West of a galaxy far, far away and his baby to check in with, in the third season of the acclaimed hit series, The Mandalorian.

Talkie Tuesday: LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ..."

Hello everyone!

So.

Let's just come out and say it, shall we?

I slept on this one. Like, there hasn't really been anything I've slept on quite as much as this particular movie.

In my defense I was GOING to work it into my review schedule. Honest! Then I'm not entirely sure what happened, but I never did, and here we are.

Back in August, Disney+ released what was basically a movie to teach us how to let go, couched as a vacation movie, and dressed in the swimmies and flip-flops, too.

And to top it off, it was happening in a galaxy we all know and love, at that.

How do you miss that opportunity? No clue.

So let's have our last look at summer, shall we? LEGO Star Wars: Summer Vacation, is here to take us all away from the cold and the upcoming snow.

Synopsis Saturday: Tales of the Jedi

"Everywhere, there is life. Value it. Honour it."

Hello everyone!

As I promised when switching things up this past Tuesday, I come bearing gifts this Saturday evening, and they come from a galaxy far, far away.

You know we all love returning to it.

There are so many stories still to tell in any era to choose from that it's remarkable how there hasn't been even MORE to sustain us, yet here we are, and Dave Filoni seems to be doing something very right yet again.

Obviously his Clone Wars went on to become a HUGE success and managed to help fill in the blanks beteween Episode II and III, but these might be even better in some aspects.

Because what released just about a week ago were stories that you might have guessed at, but never truly witnessed until now.

So it's time to dig out those lightsabers, family. Tales of the Jedi need us to be at our best!

Talkie Tuesday: Obi-Wan Kenobi

"The time of the Jedi is over."

Hello everyone!

How excited are you?

Very?

Beyond imagination???

I hope you are at least! Because the past month and a half has been ALL about Star Wars, baby, and I am SO here for it!

If any of you know me at all, you'll know that I've said before I enjoy the Prequel Trilogy quite a bit, and that's mostly because of two characters, Padmé Amidala ... and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

This is helped along immensely by Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman, of course, but in general these are the stories I'm into the most.

So naturally, when Disney+ announced its limited series, I was stoked.

Let's dig those lightsabers out of the sand, everyone, because Obi-Wan Kenobi needs them!

Tome Thursday: Brotherhood

Hello there!

Yes, we're still knee-deep in the Star Wars universe today.

We probably will be for the remainder of the week, actually.

I sometimes like taking a theme and running with it throughout the blog posts that I'm doing for a certain period of time, and seeing as I covered the Star Wars Celebration on Tuesday, I figured a Star Wars book wasn't going to go amiss either, right?

Right!

So I decided to pick a recent release that I'd been looking forward to, given my eternal love for anything Prequel related.

And I will say ... I mostly enjoyed it, if I didn't start looking in too deeply.

Once I did, it turned a little bit upside down, but you'll see there at the end, so keep reading.

Because Mike Chen's Brotherhood is up next.

Talkie Tuesday: Star Wars Celebration 2022

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ..."

Hello there!

Bet you didn't see this one coming, did you?

In favour of the very simple fact that it was almost literally Star Wars week going from last week to this one, and because I'd basically been streaming the news and keeping tabs on it pretty much all weekend, I decided to skip the traditional movie review.

Instead, I'm going to be chatting (briefly) about what happened over this past weekend, or what we KNOW happened, because there's bound to be stuff in the background that we have no clue about either.

And you know me - I'm a Star Wars fan, have been since the Prequels.

Also, you already know I'm going to say the Prequels are AWESOME. Your argument is invalid to me, because those were the movies I grew up with.

So without further ado, it's time to dig up our lightsabers from wherever we buried them (middle of the desert included), grab our astromech droids and head on out among the stars.

Because the Star Wars Celebration just happened, guys, and it was AMAZING.
