I know this one took me forever. I know. I was a little bit shell-shocked after the season finale this past week and needed a little bit of time to gather my thoughts, because this season was a lot of ups and downs.

 

Mainly ups, but definitely some of downs, and nope we're not in Nottingham!

 

We're in Westeros. A long time before Game of Thrones, although it's all the same in this Song of Ice and Fire saga which HBO is intent on building, considering we're getting A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms too now.

 

It's a bit like something that the Hobbits realize in The Lord of the Rings: they're part of a bigger story, and after they're gone, others will continue it, just as others started it before them

 

But enough with me maudlin. It's time to get serious, because the storm's broken in House of the Dragon.

Hello everyone!

 

As I promised when switching things up this past Tuesday, I come bearing gifts this Saturday evening, and they come from a galaxy far, far away.

 

You know we all love returning to it.

 

There are so many stories still to tell in any era to choose from that it's remarkable how there hasn't been even MORE to sustain us, yet here we are, and Dave Filoni seems to be doing something very right yet again.

 

Obviously his Clone Wars went on to become a HUGE success and managed to help fill in the blanks beteween Episode II and III, but these might be even better in some aspects.

 

Because what released just about a week ago were stories that you might have guessed at, but never truly witnessed until now.

 

So it's time to dig out those lightsabers, family. Tales of the Jedi need us to be at our best!

 

Synopsis Saturday: This Day

Hello everyone!

 

Yeah, I'm back.

 

No, I'm not happy about it LOL.

 

To be clear, I only do it out of morbid curiosity. I never would have subjected myself to this disaster otherwise, and yet, here we are.

 

VERY obviously you all know what I'm talking about.

 

I'm not entirely sure how this movie rose up to the Top Ten ranking on Netflix but ... probably boredom? What else is there???

 

It can't be because of stellar acting or awesome plot. None of that exists.

 

Could be for funny value though ... I'll give them that much.

 

There WAS some humour in this.

 

But overall, This Day, a sequel to the infamous 365 Days, is flatter than a pancake.

Outlander: Echoes

Hello everyone!

Firstly, let me apologise for the fact that this post didn't go up on Tuesday as I'd originally planned. Unfortunately, life got in the way - as it often does - and I was SO exhausted over the weekend and on Monday that it just ... wasn't going to work out.

So in the end, I did what I promised to do at the start of 2022, took it easy, and decided to bump it to a Saturday post.

And here we are!

Of course, I'll hopefully be covering the rest of the season since it's only eight episodes (the horror!), but is anyone else getting the feeling we may be drawing towards the end here? I know a season seven has already been confirmed, and it looks as if they'll be covering ALL the books, but I don't know.

It feels like an ending, sort of.

Anyway, enough of my maudlin, time to head back to Fraser's Ridge and see our beloved people of Outlander!

As I promised on Thursday, here is the blog post that didn't make it during the week.

 

I might have been able to squeeze it in, but at the same time I was quite busy and also the official release of the e-book isn't until today, so I figured I'd postpone the whole thing and just publish it on the actual date to be safe.

It's one of Serenity Woods', once again, but what were you expecting?

 

I think it may be quite obvious by now that Ms Woods may be my favourite contemporary author, and that's saying something considering how much I read on a general basis.

She's releasing the next book in her Billionaire Princes series, so obviously we're jumping right back into the land of New Zealand, handsome, kind men, and the women who fall in love with them.

The English Billionaire, here we come!

Synopsis Saturday: Selena, the series Pt 2

Well, we made it.

 

As in, if you've watched this show from start to finish at didn't at any point cry buckets or unleash a new river onto this unsuspecting world, you're a wizard.

 

And not the Harry Potter kind.

 

Netflix really hit it out of the park this year with its series lineup, but most especially with this biographical one, telling the story of the absolute fan favourite Tejano singer who unfortunately had her life tragically cut much too short.

 

I remember seeing the first part announcement teaser and being super stoked to finish it all up with the second ... until I realized just what that second part would mean.

 

But I persevered.

 

So grab your tissues and make sure you have plenty of time.

 

Because at the end of the day, Selena, the Series is all about love and family. 

Synopsis Saturday: Son of Ishtar

 

Hello everyone!

 

So as promised in my Thursday brief, I'm now finally finished with the first book in the historical series I'd picked up a while ago but never actually got around to reading right away.

 

Then, around the start of this week, I saw a tweet by the book author about the next installment in the series, and I thought to myself.

 

Did I not actually read those?

 

That sent me on the hunt through my e-library, and lo and behold, the first two books were sitting there, right as rain, and completely untouched.

 

I figured that was a bit of an insult, considering, and so I opened up the first one so that I might actually read through it and then decide whether or not it might be worth continuing on with the rest of the series, which, admittedly, is always a daunting task.

 

But I needn't have worried one bit.

 

Because Gordon Doherty delivers - and Son of Ishtar is one explosive beginning!

Hello everyone!

I hope you're having a lovely weekend so far and that all my friends who celebrate Thanksgiving are going to enjoy it (or are enjoying it) to the maximum!

Here it's finally starting to get a little colder, which means that it's time to pull out all the music and movies that makes us all want to be all cozy and happy at home. For me, this generally means Hallmark because, let's face it.

NOBODY does Christmas like Hallmark does it.

No matter how many other movies they film and other subcategories they have at their disposal, Christmas is still their biggest marketing niche of the year. They normally release at least 30 new movies, though the number may be lower this year due to the pandemic, but they've been up to the 50 already.

However, nope, not Hallmark tonight.

Tonight, it's just Disney. And Star Wars.

Hello everyone!

Switching it up a little this Saturday, because really, how could I not?

I may be doing this a few upcoming Saturdays as well because there's been some really great things on television that I couldn't fit into my Talkie Tuesdays, but I just might be able to find them a place on Saturdays!

I am, of course, talking (among other things) about His Dark Materials, the first season of which concluded just before Christmas.

I'm undecided if I should do an episode by episode recap of those, or just a general Saturday one, so I'll figure it out eventually.

First, however, it's time to travel to a galaxy far, far away.

The Mandalorian raced out the gate as strong as it could possibly be, gained momentum around all the tight corners, and finished off with an explosive bang.

Saturday Synopsis: 300

Hello everyone!

So as I wrote earlier this week somewhere, I decided to switch my blog posts around a little because I saw something on the television schedule that made me grin. 

Tuesday or Wednesday night, one of our channels aired 300, and I was stoked.

There is virtually nothing better to get you right out of the holiday cheer and back into the real world than some old-fashioned ass-kicking, which 300 delivers in spades and then some. Sure it's gory - but for all that it makes up with witty lines and ridiculous hilarity throughout.

Also, watching half-naked guys running around all muscled is a plus.

Since I'd already reviewed the sequel, I figured I might as well wait until this Saturday to post a review for the original movie from 2006 which pretty much made everything else Greek look fairly nansy in comparison.

I mean, come on - the Spartans literally lived for war, after all.

Synopsis Saturday: Crisis on Earth-X

"Oh you've GOT to be kidding me."

Hello everyone!

As promised back on Tuesday, here's my contribution to all the different reviews rolling around online about this week's MASSIVE, four-episode cross-over event that the CW gave to the fans with a little help from DC. 

Then again, the mothership, aka Arrow, has probably been aiming for this kind of thing since its premiere six years ago.

Boy, was it action-packed!

Also at times fluffy, adorable, hilarious, OMG-inspiring, and above all uncontrollably fun.

I'm sure this has been said many times before and at different spots, but when it comes to working together and bringing a show-stopper to their audience, the cast and crew of each of the four shows (Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl) really bring their A-game to make sure no nook and cranny is left unexplored.

Of course only Americans would come up with the idea of Nazis for enemies #1, but oh well.

Crisis on Earth-X, here we go!

So ...

Hello everyone!

So really, I've just realized that I might have taken on a bit too much with the three-day blogging, especially right now, it being December and all. I'm not sure I'd be able to keep up! Not at the moment, anyway, which means that 'Synopsis Saturday' will take a little bit of a break, and hopefully come back at some point in the future. For the time being, I'll just stick to 'Talkie Tuesday' and 'Tome Thursday', which I can definitely keep up with easily, and maybe sometimes I'll throw in a random other blog post (like this one!)

Because I had a fantastic time yesterday with my girlfriends, I'm including two pictures one of them took of what we were up to until ... around 3 am at night.

Long live St. Nick! Haha.

Hello everyone!

So something apparently went wrong yesterday while I was trying to upload this blog, but oh well, I guess I'm just a couple of hours late for some even though it's been Sunday for a while on my end. 

Before I forget, happy Thanksgiving to everyone across the pond who celebrates it!

Thanksgiving week also means that all the shows which I usually watch weren't airing, only the beginning kicked off but the others are coming back next week (or the week after, depending on how much of a break they're taking).

Now, to business!

Hello everyone!

It's Saturday, and that means the second synposis since this blog started. Luckily, this week was still full with shows, because as of the next one, a lot of them are taking a week (or two) of a break, which means I'll get some air to breathe inbetween keeping up with the lot I watch, if nothing else! It was an action-packed week on every single episode it would seem, but SO much good writing that I was sitting on the edge of my seat almost all the time. Awesome!

This week saw a newbie make its debut, so I'm going to start the review with the new kid on the block, State of Affairs.
