Talkie Tuesday: Batham Arkham Origins

"It's high time you realize you are a man, not an island.

A man's strength comes from not just brawn and intelligence, but also from his allies."

Hello everyone!

I'm sure some of you might have seen this coming, but if not ... well, unfortunately you'll have to contend with some more video game reviews.

And this week, we're heading right back to the beginning.

Well, alright, the way these games were released it isn't ACTUALLY the first one in the series, but CHRONOLOGICALLY it is, and that's the way I've chosen to re-watch the gameplays.

See, I've watched these all before, way before Gotham Knights popped on scene.

But with the resurgence in Batman interest, I decided I'm going to go right back and figure out how the story connects, if it does.

I kinda think it does, even if Knights supposedly isn't a sequel.

Anyway, we need to stop chattering and start talking about the game itself, right? Right.

Because Batman: Arkham Origins won't wait.

Talkie Tuesday: Black Adam

"Some men are not meant to be heroes."

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the last non-Christmas related post for a while, as starting this Thursday we go into the yearly extravaganza that this blog offers.

I know, I know, everyone gets bored with it long before it's over, BUT.

I kind of like doing the themed posts for the one month that we get.

So I'm looking forward to it, aren't you?

Anyway, before we can do any of that, however, we do still have this one day of the regular posts left, so here we go.

This weekend was fun for me as I participated in a video game from afar (via video call) AND watched a pretty fun movie too while I was at it.

It had action, it had wit, and it had quite a good cast, not to mention the surprise at the end.

I'm talking about Black Adam, of course.

Talkie Tuesday: Wonder Woman 1984

"Be careful what you wish for."

Hello everyone!

In this week's movie blog post, we return to the land of superheroes, impossible magic ... and fanny packs.

That's right people, we're going to the 80s!

Now obviously, people who've actually lived through the decade probably have a different view on what this movie showed, but at the same time you have to give some credit where credit's due: they took what people PERCEIVE the 80s were and made it funny, or as funny as they could possibly make it in that moment.

And well, most of the time it worked!

Plus I mean, there's just something about 80s fashion that will either make you laugh or cry your eyes out at the absolute disaster on screen.

Add in Perdro Pascal in a blonde wig and you probably know what movie I'm talking about here.

Look to the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane!

Nope. It's Wonder Woman 1984.

Talkie Tuesday: Aquaman

"What could be greater than a king? A hero."

Hello everyone!

I'm actually watching more current movies now, yay me! Haha.

It's one of those things that happen when you're so busy watching everything and anything you can, and occasionally there'll be slips and I'll be caught in some cycle of older movies before regrouping and jumping back into the present.

I'd wanted to see this one from the moment it was announced, but that being said I apparently needed some time to get to it.

DC is lagging a little bit in comparison to Marvel when it comes to their movie lineup; they're trying, but they just can't seem to find their stride and don't seem to have a specific vision or even look they're going for, which shows in the finished product. But it looks like they do VERY well with origin stories, which means that they might even be on the rise.

In all actuality, probably nothing will ever overcome the success that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but DCEU is trying its hardest.

And within that lineup, Aquaman is definitely one to watch!

Talkie Tuesday: Justice League

"This isn't the plan. This is the team."

Hello everyone!

So, fun fact: I'm only slowly getting into the DCEU. Probably because DC is a little bit on the slower side when it comes to their movie franchise as opposed to Marvel that's currently way, way into the MCU

That being said, however, I again state that I'm not someone who's going to play favourites and go from one camp to the other trying to infuriate people.

I really don't care about this so called "rivalry". I like Thor but I also like Superman, so if I want to watch both movies and see Chris Hemsworth and Henry Cavill rocking it on screen, well, that's about everything that should be said on the matter.

Still, it took me a little bit to get to the hero team-up DC dreamed up as their answer for the Avengers. I think I'm still jaded after trying - and failing - with Batman vs Superman.

Wonder Woman restored my faith somewhat though and I figured I might as well give Justice League a try, too.

Tome Thursday: Wonder Woman Warbringer

Hello everyone!

For my book review this week I'm going back to basics with DC.

Now, for those of you who may not know me all that well, let me tell you that I frankly don't care too much about all this DC vs Marvel debate or hashtags or whatever.

I can understand that there's some rivalry going on, because, well, two competing comic book houses? Duh. It makes sense even to me. But I'm not one of those people who say YOU CAN'T GO FOR DC IF YOU'RE A MARVEL FAN THAT'S BETRAYAL. Or vice versa.

Me, I watch/read about the heroes I like. Whether they were created by Marvel or by DC means precious little, although I'll also freely admit I kind of like the tone of MCU better than of the DCEU at the moment.

That being said, however, Wonder Woman has become one of my favourites, partly thanks to Gal Gadot's amazing performancein the movie.

Which is why this week's book is all about the Warbringer.

Synopsis Saturday: Crisis on Earth-X

"Oh you've GOT to be kidding me."

Hello everyone!

As promised back on Tuesday, here's my contribution to all the different reviews rolling around online about this week's MASSIVE, four-episode cross-over event that the CW gave to the fans with a little help from DC.

Then again, the mothership, aka Arrow, has probably been aiming for this kind of thing since its premiere six years ago.

Boy, was it action-packed!

Also at times fluffy, adorable, hilarious, OMG-inspiring, and above all uncontrollably fun.

I'm sure this has been said many times before and at different spots, but when it comes to working together and bringing a show-stopper to their audience, the cast and crew of each of the four shows (Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl) really bring their A-game to make sure no nook and cranny is left unexplored.

Of course only Americans would come up with the idea of Nazis for enemies #1, but oh well.

Crisis on Earth-X, here we go!

Talkie Tuesday: Wonder Woman

"I will fight for those who cannot fight for themselves."

Hello everyone!

So after that impromptu break which I took without announcing anything, I figured I might as well come back with a big bang. Right? Right.

There I was, minding my own business at the seaside, when I stumbled upon Wonder Woman quite by accident. As in, I had known there was a movie being made and that it was just about to drop in theatres by the time I hightailed it to the coast, but I wasn't paying too much attention to the actual dates.

And here and now, let me tell you: boy, am I glad I paid attention later!

DC has sort of been lagging behind Marvel in terms of their superhero movies, only just coming into their own with Man of Steel and the following Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice (which a lot of people complained about and I, personally, only really checked the ending of), but they now seem to be on the right track.

Let's begin our journey then, shall we? With the one, the only, Wonder Woman.

DCs Cross-over Event: Heroes v Aliens

"Best. Team-up. EVER."

Hello everyone!

So, like I promised this past Tuesday, I switched up the line-up for my blog posts because of the awesome and amazing thing that was happening during the week. Because why would I want to spend a long time developing and writing a blog post about a movie that can wait when we had that cross-over to look forward to?

Okay, yes, heads up, I'm a DC comics fan. And a Marvel fan.

I am firmly convinced you can like both and not have to glare daggers at either camps because, let's face it, all the superheroes and villains in there are for our entertainment.

They probably wouldn't want to be the cause of disputes (if they were real!).

But then I can totally hear Mick Rory already snarling a very trademark 'Speak for yourself!'

Anyway, as you can tell, I'm a fan, I geeked out this week while it was happening, and now that it's over and done with I can finally review it!

Beam me up, Scotty!

DC's Cross-over Event!

Hello everyone!

As this week marks CW's DC Cross-over Event, which spans four episodes of four shows, I decided not to do my usual movie review.

Instead, on Saturday, I'll be posting a combined recap of ALL FOUR shows, just to see what CW has done with them! I hope you enjoy this week just as much as I'm already enjoying it.
