Talkie Tuesday: Eyes of Wakanda

"For Wakanda."

Hello everyone!

And welcome back to the MCU, featured on this blog.

I used to do a whole lot more of these posts, but I've kind of fallen off the bandwagon since then, so to speak.

Then again, I'm firmly convinced that the MCU already had its golden age during the Infinity Saga, but that's just me.

I'll definitely be seeing SOME movies still, but I'm just not as into it as I used to be, you know?

However, I love me a good anthology.

Disney Plus tends to release them every once in a while, and this one was definitely no exception to the rule.

So hold on tight as we travel through time with the Hatut Zaraze in Eyes of Wakanda!

Talkie Tuesday Musings: Loki

"It's harder to stay."

 Hi everyone!

So tonight's post isn't actually going to be a full on post because I'm cheating a little bit.

I was fully going to do Red, White & Royal Blue but got side-tracked during the weekend so it got postponed over to next week (I hope ... we'll see how it goes!).

This meant, however, that I would need to figure something else out for this Tuesday.

Enter our favourite god of mischief who just so happens to currently be airing on Disney+ if you've been paying at least a little bit of attention.

Now I'm not going to lie, I won't be going fully into details about all that's happened or hasn't happened.

Mostly I'll just be musing out loud.

Ready?

Then let's have a look at the first two episodes of Loki, season 2.

Talkie Tuesday: Spider-Man No Way Home

"With great power there must also come great responsibility."

Hello everyone!

Did you think I was done with Marvel?

I did too!

Especially since I haven't been overly impressed with the MCU's version of Spider-Man thus far, which I haven't kept a secret.

Listen, Tom Holland is great, I'm sure he is - but somehow the whole origins story when it's a teenager isn't something I go in for anymore, not at this point at least. Maybe it's because I don't feel like it? Or maybe it's just because a lot of it happens in a high school.

And I'm so over high school right now haha.

HOWEVER, that doesn't hold true for this last in the trilogy.

Because DAYUM, okay, everyone was correct! Everyone was definitely right about this one. So now you better make sure we can swing with our netting and communicate with Nick Fury.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is coming to your living room next.

Talkie Tuesday: Eternals

"When you love something, you protect it."

Hello everyone!

Well, we made it.

Four weeks and four Marvel movies later, we're now all caught up until No Way Home becomes readily available for streaming, since I'm still not comfortable just going to the cinema to see it in these times.

And man, it was a bumpy, bumpy ride!

It started off weak and then climbed until it peaked last week, so I was fully expecting this week's to knock it out of the park, except ... it didn't.

Not even a little bit.

It's disappointing because one would THINK that after so many years of making these movies Marvel would have the formula for success down pat, and yet it looks like that's not even remotely the case as they continue further into Phase Four.

They're doing okay with the TV shows, but the movies are often struggling.

Let's dive right into Eternals, shall we?

Talkie Tuesday: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

"A blood debt has to be paid by blood.

Hello everyone!

Week three in our Marvel catch-up series and we're still going strong, trying to finish off the month with HOPEFULLY a top note rather than a low one!

And thus far, it hasn't disappointed me yet.

After a rough start with Far From Home, Black Widow helped us rise out of the abyss, but it's tonight's movie that REALLY gets the ball rolling, and us soaring! Rhyme unintended, but I mean, we work with what we've got here.

I'll admit I went into the movie more-or-less blind, as I've only seen the teaser trailer way back when, then nothing whatsoever, and ended up watching the movie late as well.

It paid off, though.

It SO paid off.

Without further ado, let's open the scroll of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, shall we?

Talkie Tuesday: Black Widow

"Your pain only makes you stronger.

Hello everyone!

Week two of our Marvel catch-up is here and we're back on the grind, but this time it's at least with a character that I've known and loved since pretty much the beginning of MCU.

Listen, I love me Peter Parker, too, but ... maybe not this particular one.

Black Widow, however, was one of those I always wanted more information about.

She was our window into SHIELD besides Coulson, and she was a total badass who managed to keep up with gods and super-soldiers just by being spectacularly trained, skilled and disciplined.

And yes, it helps that Scarlett Johansson pretty much NAILED the role once she was cast.

But having said all that - I'll say this movie suffers. A lot. And it suffers mainly from the incredibly ridiculous decision from the higher-ups, who didn't include this one in the chronological lineup of the Infinity Saga.

Before I get too far into that, though, let's just figure out what's what, shall we? Black Widow, enter, stage right!

Talkie Tuesday: Spider-Man Far From Home

"Be ready for anything."

Hello everyone!

As stated and announced in my weekend post, this month and this Tuesday especially kick off the four week long Marvel catch-up, because ... well, because I haven't been on the ball with the MCU since Endgame.

I figured that I could at the very least give it a go since these things all connect to one another, somehow.

But of course that presents its own unique challenges along the way as you go, really.

See, there are a few movies in the Avengers lineup - what I call the MCU in my head anyway - that I really just can't be bothered with, no matter how hard the directors and cast may try to make their characters appealing.

And unfortunately, tonight's choice is one of them, as sad as that may sound.

I tried though! I tried my very best to like the movie and enjoy it for what it is, but it turns out that what it is, is ... well, not exactly my cup of tea, regardless.

Shake out those web-shooters, everyone. Spider-Man: Far From Home is where we start.

Talkie Tuesday: Avengers Endgame

"Avengers ... assemble."

Hello everyone!

Well, against all odds, I finally made it.

Not that it didn't take me freaking FOREVER.

The thing that happened this time was that I watched three or so Marvel movies in a row and then decided I needed to take a break - then the break turned out to be longer than expected because I just couldn't seem to find the time.

Three hours is a bit much and you need to actually plan to ensure you can get that in one go!

But I did it, and it's all under the belt now. FINALLY.

Of course it's late in comparison to when most people've seen this movie, but at this point it's not something I even worry about anymore.

I'm always late to something or other haha.

Avengers: Endgame was just the current in a long list of my lateness!

Talkie Tuesday: Aquaman

"What could be greater than a king? A hero."

Hello everyone!

I'm actually watching more current movies now, yay me! Haha.

It's one of those things that happen when you're so busy watching everything and anything you can, and occasionally there'll be slips and I'll be caught in some cycle of older movies before regrouping and jumping back into the present.

I'd wanted to see this one from the moment it was announced, but that being said I apparently needed some time to get to it.

DC is lagging a little bit in comparison to Marvel when it comes to their movie lineup; they're trying, but they just can't seem to find their stride and don't seem to have a specific vision or even look they're going for, which shows in the finished product. But it looks like they do VERY well with origin stories, which means that they might even be on the rise.

In all actuality, probably nothing will ever overcome the success that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but DCEU is trying its hardest.

And within that lineup, Aquaman is definitely one to watch!

Talkie Tuesday: Captain Marvel

"Highter, further, faster, baby."

Hello everyone!

Back with a movie review after sort of cheating last week with the television show Blood & Treasure (which, by the way, airs a new episode tonight, so make sure you tune in!). And this time it's an ACTUAL movie review.

As in, I'm going back to my roots.

As in, I'm going back to Marvel.

For those of you who don't yet know, I'm an avid Marvel fan; I started watching the so-called Infinity Saga waaay back sometime in Phase one (not quite in the beginning, but I think I started with Thor or Hulk (might have been the one with Eric Bana) and worked my way up) and haven't looked back since.

I've loved most of the movies in the saga, with only rare exceptions, and I'm STOKED to see what follows after Endgame!

No, I haven't seen Endgame yet. I had three consecutive Marvel movie nights and needed a minor break.

Tonight's blog post is all about Captain Marvel.

Talkie Tuesday: Thor Ragnarok

"You cannot stop Ragnarok. Why fight it?
Because that's what heroes do!
"

Hello everyone!

So, fun story: I've actually been sitting on this movie for some time now, because, well, why would you watch it the second you can, you know?

I think I honestly just couldn't decide if I was willing to sacrifice 2+ hours when people kept saying the third Thor movie in the Marvel franchise wasn't even close to the first two. But, because AXN has been streaming Avengers (Phase one AND two, would you believe it?), I kind of got the wanderlust to finally sit down and figure out what happens next.

Turns out though I was wrong in waiting as long as I had.

Thor: Ragnarok is, as the title says it is, basically about the end of the world - or, at least, Thor's world, which in this case doesn't necessarily mean Earth. It kind of just means Asgard, but as Asgard was one of the Nine Known Realms of the cosmos connected with Yggdrasil ... you get the idea.

Still, it was one hell of a ride! Grab on to Thor's cape, it's off to Ragnarok we go!
