Talkie Tuesday: Hogwarts Legacy

"Magic is no different than any power. What really matters is the one who wields it."

Hello everyone!

I promise, by this time next week there WILL be another movie review waiting, but I just finished watching a gameplay on Youtube from one of my favourites, Trev Martin, and I couldn't just not talk about it.

I'll admit, however, that I was wary going in.

I mean, Harry Potter was a successful franchise, and so too were Fantastic Beasts until people started complaining and other outside scandal erupted which certainly didn't help matters along.

Then, let's not forget the horrible would-be continuation of Cursed Child which I still pretend to this day doesn't exist (I swear if they actually make a movie we'll know it's just a cash grab, because there are FAN FICTION STORIES out there better than that drivel!).

So all in all, not an auspicious beginning, and honestly? I dragged my feet a little to start watching, but you get sucked in easily enough, and I've started my second watch via Nic's channel by now.

Without further ado, let's get our wands at the ready, shall we?

Hogwarts Legacy needs us to step up our game.

Talkie Tuesday: Batham Arkham Origins

"It's high time you realize you are a man, not an island.

A man's strength comes from not just brawn and intelligence, but also from his allies."

Hello everyone!

I'm sure some of you might have seen this coming, but if not ... well, unfortunately you'll have to contend with some more video game reviews.

And this week, we're heading right back to the beginning.

Well, alright, the way these games were released it isn't ACTUALLY the first one in the series, but CHRONOLOGICALLY it is, and that's the way I've chosen to re-watch the gameplays.

See, I've watched these all before, way before Gotham Knights popped on scene.

But with the resurgence in Batman interest, I decided I'm going to go right back and figure out how the story connects, if it does.

I kinda think it does, even if Knights supposedly isn't a sequel.

Anyway, we need to stop chattering and start talking about the game itself, right? Right.

Because Batman: Arkham Origins won't wait.

Tome Thursday: God of War (2018)

Hello everyone!

So I know I said I wouldn't do this anymore, but ... yeah, I'm doing it.

One last time.

If this were a different blog post I'd insert a Theoden King gif in here just because I could haha! But as it happens, there's no gif, just me wrapping up the post series with an unexpected addition.

God of War kind of took me by surprise and by storm, and that said I've gone through the Greek portion and now the Norse portion fairly quickly, all things considered.

I've already read and watched and reviewed pretty much all there is to the big main games of the series, and thought I was done.

Then I read the official novelization.

And nope, I was not done.

The 2018 God of War book is the choice of the night, and man ... man, is it a doozy. RANT AND SPOILERS AHEAD. You have been warned.

Talkie Tuesday: God of War III

"My vengeance ends here."

Hello everyone!

So I know that not all of you are fans of these videogames, which is why I'm going to be wrapping up my romp through them with this blog post, unless I end up reading the book adaptation in the next little while to add to the collection as well.

But for the most part, we've now pretty much come full circle, since we already know what happens to the protagonist afterwards!

Well, we THINK we know, in any event.

For the past few weeks we've been trailing after Kratos, the demigod son of Zeus, who is on a quest for vengeance because the Greek Gods made a tactical mistake and didn't understand what they ended up creating through their machinations and promises and debts to the guy.

I mean, you want to talk about hubris? These idiots have it in spades, and they don't realize what's happening until it's much, much too late.

So without further ado, let's look at God of War III.

Tome Thursday: God of War II

Hello everyone!

Did you by any chance miss your regular dose of decapitating, family-murdering, and other blood-related sports for a bit?

Have you been wondering just what to do with your time without all of the above?

Not to worry, I'm back with more of it!

And if you think I'm kidding you really should pay attention when someone name-drops Kratos, because man, the dude's entire philosophy on how to deal with the world is to literally kill whoever's in his way. With the formal announcement (trailer PLUS gameplay!) for Ragnarok at the Playstation showcase, the hype really is on to see our Spartan again.

Especially as he seems to have mellowed out a bit in his old age.

But not in this one! In this one he's still very much at the peak of his existence, one would say (though you could also always argue about it), and he hasn't really got time for all your diplomatic and peacekeeping nonsense.

God of War II picks up practically a sneeze after God of War and, well, it's got some style, lemme tell you.

Tome Thursday: God of War

Hello everyone!

As you can see from the title of tonight's blog post, we're once again venturing into the land of Spartan rage, fickle gods, and the mortals who serve them.

I always enjoy looking up novelizations of certain videogames because they usually offer up additional information on a character, their story, and of course the central plot you can get familiar with if you play the game.

So when I fell head-first into the God of War franchise, I ended up finding not one, not even two, but THREE novelizations of three game titles.

I got into it with the latest installment, which means I'm really interested to read about it from that particular point, but that said I have a slightly OCD mind, and so if I see there are other books prior to the one I want in a series, I have to read those first.

I just ... I can't lol.

Which also helps me in a way as I learned a whole lot more about Kratos than I knew before I watched that gameplay on Youtube! So without further ado, here we go with the first book of God of War.

Talkie Tuesday: God of War 2018

"We are not men. We are more than that. The responsibility is far greater."

Hello everyone!

Yeah okay, I keep on sort of cheating in this section. SUPPOSEDLY this is where movie reviews go if you look, but I haven't had time to watch many movies consistently in a little bit.

Ergo, I have to make do with the rest.

And I mean it's not that I'm complaining here, given the fact that the reviews I do eventually post are pretty darn good if I do say so myself, in terms of the topics I choose and the eventual format they take on once I'm done with them.

So tonight, as my first official blog post upon my return from vacation, here we are.

With another game review, potentially one of the best games of all times released in the recent decade or so.

I'm not the only one saying it, by the way, there are others saying the same thing.

God of War, the 2018 edition and fourth major installment in the franchise, is here to Spartan Rage.

Talkie Tuesday: Horizon Zero Dawn

"I would have wanted her to be curious.  And willful,

unstoppable even, but with enough compassion to heal the world."

Hello everyone!

So this week I'm doing something much, MUCH different than any other week before.

You're probably wondering how this all makes sense. After all, I may have mentioned in some other post (or two) that I'm not actually a gamer, strictly speaking. I don't have a computer that could handle that type of graphic, and I definitely don't have a gaming console at this moment in time.

But what I DO have is access to Youtube, and you can find pretty much any game played from start to finish on there, if you know which gamers to follow.

I've been following Tmartn for a few years now, but I've equally been subscribed to Tetraninja, and it was the latter's gameplay of this masterpiece that I ended up going through.

And man, did I power through it. I just couldn't stop watching!

I've seen some gameplays in the years since I started watching, and all of them have a story worth following, but I don't think I've ever run into something as insanely awesome as Guerilla Games' production of Horizon Zero Dawn.

Tome Thursday: The Castaway Billionaire

Hello everyone!

I feel like I'm starting to get super boring with these intros, but here we are again with another lovely, lovely book that's just perfect for a summer read.

And I mean perfect.

What's better than reading about a random, deserted island, so isolated that no one else even knows about it, and two people who used to be lovers but are now on their own separate paths, though they somehow land on it together?

Not much, is my answer.

Then again it depends on your point of view, probably.

But I will say this: if you've enjoyed previous books by Serenity Woods, I'm confident you'll love this one just as much, because we are continuing with The Billionaire Princes this week in our reviews, and the second book, The Castaway Billionaire, tells us all there is to know about Theo.

You remember Theo - tall, handsome as sin, with some baggage from the past? Well it's time to drop that baggage.

Talkie Tuesday: Ubisoft Forward

As you guys can see, this week is just a little bit different all around!

So I may not be a big gamer myself - I mean, I don't even own a console and my PC is definitely NOT game approved lol, it tried valiantly and almost died one time so we said no in the end - but I really enjoy watching gameplays on Youtube (and have recently been getting into the Twitch streaming side of things).

Needless to say, it's amusing to watch these videos primarily because of the gamers behind them.

I mean, most of it is the gamer being chased around by massive monsters and shrieking their head off!

Listen, if you've never experienced that, you should, it's hysterical.

Overall though, I accidentally watched last year's Ubisoft Foward and actually caught the announcement trailer this year so thought to myself, why not try something out of the norm for this week's blog post?

And so here we are. Let's jump right into what went down during the event, shall we?
