"The biggest fashion show on Earth."
Hello everyone!
As mentioned last week, I'm absolutely taking a brief look at Victoria's Secret yet again.
And, yet again, I find myself in more of an 'eeeh' state of mind, honestly.
I don't really know what it is, because used to be, I was genuinely excited to tune in and watch the show, no matter when it aired, and I was paying attention to the models who would be walking, the Fantasy Bra news, that sort of thing.
This new-old thing they're doing, bringing it back and whatnot?
I really don't know. It's just not the same somehow, and I suppose a lot of it has to do with the times we live in as well.
So without further ado, everybody: the fashion show of 2026!
I'll say that, at the very least, this year saw a more well-rounded cast of models per section and with several repeats from the popular ones, the way they used to do it, where the Angels at least walked in two or three segments throughout.
It also got SOME of it's mojo back by being a little more on the party side ... yet still fell flat in the end.
I'm starting to think it really is down to the fact the models look like any other model walking any other runway at any other show.
VS USED to be that you could tell the models were having fun the second they stepped onto the runway: they'd dance, goof around, have some great moves. It was radically different from Fashion Week, for example, because they showed CHARACTER and didn't just represent glorious human coat hangers while strutting.
Here in this new era? None of that. It's all gone, and the public is equally as polite as if they're watching a theatre performance.
Don't get me started on the Fantasy Bra, either.
It really does look like the old days of a model earning it are gone, because Kylie Jenner, I'm so very sorry, categorically does NOT deserve to even have wings, let alone the Bra in question!
It's all about who you know, how much money you're willing to shell out, and how big a following you have on social media. At least if it were Kendall, who's actually walked the show a few times, it would make sense.
The musical numbers were fine, I wasn't all that into any of them, but mostly, overall, it's just a bland experience nowadays. We don't even get the backstage snippets you used to get with the show!
I'll still be watching in future, but, with far less enthusiasm.
xx
