Talkie Tuesday: Gladiator II

"What is the dream of Rome if her people are not free?"

Hello everyone!

And yes, once again, welcome back.

You didn't think I was actually going to leave you hanging and NOT drop a review of this movie, did you?

Considering I pretty much promised to watch and review it last week, it should be obvious by now that I try to keep my promises, as many as I possibly can in any event.

However circumstances were just a little bit different than how it was initially planned.

See, supposedly, I was supposed to go watch this in the cinema, but alas, that didn't happen, and I got to watch it on my big-ass home screen TV instead.

Either way.

It's time to head back to Ancient Rome and see what happens when you try to make a sequel to one of the best movies of all time. Back to the Colosseum, baby, in Gladiator II.

Talkie Tuesday: The Mandalorian

"This is the way."

Hello everyone!

And I hope you've enjoyed the ride which Disney+ was so happy to arrange for us over the past two months together.

Of course there's people out there who are unhappy and a ton of rumours are bopping around.

It happens with anything and everything these days. Social media and the internet in general seem to be starved and take even just someone casually turning their head to the very next level of OHMYGOD THEY'RE GOING XYZ!!!

I swear I sometimes think I'm living in Bizarro world.

BUT that said, I know I absolutely loved the past two months, and can't believe they're already over.

How does time fly by SO fast?!?

So without further ado, let's not waste any more of it. Because we have a lone gunslinger in the wild, wild West of a galaxy far, far away and his baby to check in with, in the third season of the acclaimed hit series, The Mandalorian.

Talkie Tuesday: Wonder Woman 1984

"Be careful what you wish for."

Hello everyone!

In this week's movie blog post, we return to the land of superheroes, impossible magic ... and fanny packs.

That's right people, we're going to the 80s!

Now obviously, people who've actually lived through the decade probably have a different view on what this movie showed, but at the same time you have to give some credit where credit's due: they took what people PERCEIVE the 80s were and made it funny, or as funny as they could possibly make it in that moment.

And well, most of the time it worked!

Plus I mean, there's just something about 80s fashion that will either make you laugh or cry your eyes out at the absolute disaster on screen.

Add in Perdro Pascal in a blonde wig and you probably know what movie I'm talking about here.

Look to the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane!

Nope. It's Wonder Woman 1984.

Talkie Tuesday: The Mandalorian

"This is the way.

Hello everyone!

If you're looking at the poster image of tonight's blog post and thinking to yourself 'oh man, this looks cool!' ... I will agree with you.

Because it IS cool.

When the show premiered in 2019 there was a lot of anticipation riding on its shoulders because of all the discourse surrounding Star Wars, Disney, and the Sequel Trilogy. I won't be getting into that in this post, but suffice to say fans were skeptical, thinking that they would once again be let down.

And then Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni delivered.

They delivered BIG TIME.

With 2020 being the way it was, I suppose it would be fair to assume that, well, we needed something as good as this. We really, truly needed to lose ourselves in a galaxy far, far away.

And season two of the critically acclaimed show The Mandalorian came and went with a bang.

Synopsis Saturday: The Mandalorian

"This is the Way."

Hello everyone!

Switching it up a little this Saturday, because really, how could I not?

I may be doing this a few upcoming Saturdays as well because there's been some really great things on television that I couldn't fit into my Talkie Tuesdays, but I just might be able to find them a place on Saturdays!

I am, of course, talking (among other things) about His Dark Materials, the first season of which concluded just before Christmas.

I'm undecided if I should do an episode by episode recap of those, or just a general Saturday one, so I'll figure it out eventually.

First, however, it's time to travel to a galaxy far, far away.

The Mandalorian raced out the gate as strong as it could possibly be, gained momentum around all the tight corners, and finished off with an explosive bang.

Talkie Tuesday: The Great Wall

"Kill the Queen - or we all die."

Hello everyone!

I'm making quite a dent in my movie reviews, I've noticed, looking at the ones still waiting on the to be reviewed pile, which makes me quite happy. Plus, I still have a ton of them waiting in the to be watched pile so I'm not even remotely worried about running out of material!

Plus, I've just come to a decision.

As DIVA, or the European version of Hallmark Channel, has been channelling its inner-Christmas Elf since November 6th, I will be doing Christmas movie reviews as soon as December hits. Who knows? I may gather enough of them to be able to do both Tuesday AND Saturday blog posts as reviews!

But anyway.

The movie I picked for tonight is one of Matt Damon's recent ones where, post-Bourne, we try to envision him as something other than a CIA agent gone rogue. The Great Wall might have a lot to show in terms of entertainment, but whether or not it actually delivers anything else ... I'll leave that up to you guys.
