Talkie Tuesday: Tales of the Empire

"Long live the Empire.

Hello everyone!

Let darkness reign, let hearts quiver, and let us take a look at some of what went down during the reign of probably one of the most-known Empires the fictional world has ever seen.

I'm talking, of course, about the GALACTIC Empire, ruled by none other than Darth Sidious.

Back in 2022, Disney graced us with the animated Tales of the Jedi, and everyone around the world rejoiced.

Then they dropped the absolutely spectacular news that in 2024, we'd be seeing the OTHER side of the coin.

Aka, the Dark Side.

As if anyone would need any MORE invitation to watch this May 4th; hide your Force sensitivity, and let's have a look at Tales of the Empire.

Talkie Tuesday: The Land Before Time

"Some things you see with your eyes, others you see with your heart."

Hello everyone!

I hope you're ready with your Kleenex and your chocolate, because tonight's post is going to be a doozy.

That's right, I'm on an old cartoon animation kick.

And what better way to keep going ... than by going for what, it has been said before, is probably ranked among the top ten saddest movies of all time?

Yes, I watched it voluntarily.

Yes, I recognize this is probably insane.

But anyway!

Without further ado, let's check back in with the land of ... dinosaurs. You guessed it. It's back, way back we go, and we'll hopefully not lose all hope along the way.

That's what sometimes happens if you're watching The Land Before Time.

Talkie Tuesday: The Rise of Skywalker

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ...

Hello everyone!

Well.

You can get it off your chest right now. I'm pretty sure everyone who's actually wanted to watch these movies has seen this film way, WAY before me.

In my defense, I was so mad after Episode VIII, that when they announced and released the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, I steadfastly and staunchly refused to touch it with a ten foot pole.

Yep, that's the entire plot and reasoning behind why I'm only reviewing this one now.

But since finishing up the Jurassic movies last week, I realized this would be hanging around my neck like some sort of dead weight, dragging me down, and so here we are.

And I have to admit ... I didn't hate it, nor did I not like it as much as I was afraid I might.

It's definitely not a masterpiece, though.

The Rise of Skywalker, plagued by the problems of its predecessor, does its best, but ultimately can't fully restore our faith in these movies.

Talkie Tuesday: The Mandalorian

"This is the way."

Hello everyone!

And I hope you've enjoyed the ride which Disney+ was so happy to arrange for us over the past two months together.

Of course there's people out there who are unhappy and a ton of rumours are bopping around.

It happens with anything and everything these days. Social media and the internet in general seem to be starved and take even just someone casually turning their head to the very next level of OHMYGOD THEY'RE GOING XYZ!!!

I swear I sometimes think I'm living in Bizarro world.

BUT that said, I know I absolutely loved the past two months, and can't believe they're already over.

How does time fly by SO fast?!?

So without further ado, let's not waste any more of it. Because we have a lone gunslinger in the wild, wild West of a galaxy far, far away and his baby to check in with, in the third season of the acclaimed hit series, The Mandalorian.

Talkie Tuesday: LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ..."

Hello everyone!

So.

Let's just come out and say it, shall we?

I slept on this one. Like, there hasn't really been anything I've slept on quite as much as this particular movie.

In my defense I was GOING to work it into my review schedule. Honest! Then I'm not entirely sure what happened, but I never did, and here we are.

Back in August, Disney+ released what was basically a movie to teach us how to let go, couched as a vacation movie, and dressed in the swimmies and flip-flops, too.

And to top it off, it was happening in a galaxy we all know and love, at that.

How do you miss that opportunity? No clue.

So let's have our last look at summer, shall we? LEGO Star Wars: Summer Vacation, is here to take us all away from the cold and the upcoming snow.

Synopsis Saturday: Tales of the Jedi

"Everywhere, there is life. Value it. Honour it."

Hello everyone!

As I promised when switching things up this past Tuesday, I come bearing gifts this Saturday evening, and they come from a galaxy far, far away.

You know we all love returning to it.

There are so many stories still to tell in any era to choose from that it's remarkable how there hasn't been even MORE to sustain us, yet here we are, and Dave Filoni seems to be doing something very right yet again.

Obviously his Clone Wars went on to become a HUGE success and managed to help fill in the blanks beteween Episode II and III, but these might be even better in some aspects.

Because what released just about a week ago were stories that you might have guessed at, but never truly witnessed until now.

So it's time to dig out those lightsabers, family. Tales of the Jedi need us to be at our best!

Talkie Tuesday: LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ...

Hello everyone!

Ready for spooky season?

Disney wants you to be!

And Disney has also figured out that these one-off, LEGO-inspired specials seem to be going down super well with their audiences, which I'm totally on board with.

They're a whole boatload of fun!

If you'll remember, there was a holiday special last year right before Christmas time, but this year they decided to go for the haunted version of it and make something that might give viewers a chance to enjoy Halloween before it arrives.

I mean, Poe Dameron crash-landing on Mustafar? Can you IMAGINE the chaos???

Well, you don't have to imagine any more, not really, because we're taking a look at the LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales tonight, and Poe just happens to be our star!

Synopsis Saturday: LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ...

Hello everyone!

I hope you're having a lovely weekend so far and that all my friends who celebrate Thanksgiving are going to enjoy it (or are enjoying it) to the maximum!

Here it's finally starting to get a little colder, which means that it's time to pull out all the music and movies that makes us all want to be all cozy and happy at home. For me, this generally means Hallmark because, let's face it.

NOBODY does Christmas like Hallmark does it.

No matter how many other movies they film and other subcategories they have at their disposal, Christmas is still their biggest marketing niche of the year. They normally release at least 30 new movies, though the number may be lower this year due to the pandemic, but they've been up to the 50 already.

However, nope, not Hallmark tonight.

Tonight, it's just Disney. And Star Wars.

And Life Day in the 2020 LEGO Holiday Special!

Tome Thursday: Queen's Peril

Hello everyone!

Wouldn't you know it, I'm back with another story from the galaxy far, far away.

You didn't think I'd left it ALL behind, did you?

I was only waiting for another awesome release.

A lot of people will argue (and do argue actually) that the post-Disney era is garbage, and I respectfully disagree with that. At least this post-Disney era gives us books focusing on some of the characters we've been dying to hear more about!

Plus I read books not by the era they were published in, but by what interests me at the time.

And a book about Padmé Amidala is ALWAYS going to win my good graces.

When it was announced that E.K. Johnston would be writing a prequel, or basically just another Padmé story, I was beyond thrilled.

Because character-driven stories like Queen's Peril are what we need.

Tome Thursday: Master & Apprentice

Hello everyone!

I am back with my Star Wars reads, something that I haven't done in a while now, but in my defense, I usually don't even have the time when Christmas hits.

I'd been meaning to read this particular book for a while because of the two main characters portrayed within, but then of course life intervened, and other things happened. Now it looks like I'm back on the Star Wars train for just a little bit, as you do occasionally, and I'm really pleased with the choice I made for book material.

It might come as a surprise to some, but I'm actually a really big Prequel fan, and with that a fan of the Old Republic timeline. I enjoy exploring more of the Republic during its heyday, or at least during a time when it was still functional, to a degree.

Obviously the Prequels details the fall of the Republic just as much as the fall of Anakin Skywalker, but I've always been a lot more fascinated with the Republic as such, more than with the building of the New Republic after the Originals.

Some people may call it blasphemy, but I call it everyone has their own taste.

So let's check out Master & Apprentice and see what it's all about, shall we?

Talkie Tuesday: Star Wars The Clone Wars

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ..."

Hello everyone!

For my last movie review before I take a mini summer break, I decided to pick something near and dear to my heart, and also incredibly hilarious while I'm at it.

That, and I was so disappointed yesterday when trying to watch a movie and being unable to get into it that I really needed something else for a pick-me-up, and Star Wars usually works wonders for that kind of thing!

Of course, by this point, we've already looked at the plot of The Clone Wars, or at least its introductory movie, from pretty much every angle, so this isn't going to be a super extra detailed bit of post.

We all know what happened.

We've seen it and/or read it.

So why not go right ahead and dive into the movie then?
