Talkie Tuesday: Tales of the Underworld

"Don't be afraid - be ready."

Hello everyone!

Welcome to another tale out of the galaxy far, far away.

Tonight's choice is third in this new format Disney's been producing for a little bit now - or well, I say third, but it's actually been since 2008 with The Clone Wars that things have been in motion.

Every once in a while, they take a look at someone who's not necessarily a Skywalker, too.

Or a Kenobi, come to think of it.

Tonight, we're headed back into the belly of the beast to look at two of the fandom's favourite characters, who're potentially either morally grey, or straight up evil, depending how you look at it.

When all's said and done though, they're awesome characters and it's no wonder the fans love them so.

Without further ado, let's take a look at Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld!

Tome Thursday: Brotherhood

Hello there!

Yes, we're still knee-deep in the Star Wars universe today.

We probably will be for the remainder of the week, actually.

I sometimes like taking a theme and running with it throughout the blog posts that I'm doing for a certain period of time, and seeing as I covered the Star Wars Celebration on Tuesday, I figured a Star Wars book wasn't going to go amiss either, right?

Right!

So I decided to pick a recent release that I'd been looking forward to, given my eternal love for anything Prequel related.

And I will say ... I mostly enjoyed it, if I didn't start looking in too deeply.

Once I did, it turned a little bit upside down, but you'll see there at the end, so keep reading.

Because Mike Chen's Brotherhood is up next.

Tome Thursday: Into the Dark

Hello everyone!

This week we're returning to a galaxy far, far away, because believe it or not, there was another High Republic book that ended up being published.

I need to pay better attention to everything if I'm being honest.

That aside, however, there's something to be said about interstellar adventures and excitement, something that people always seem so keen on. Especially nowadays with the additional exploration and deep dive on Mars, I can easily imagine this becoming an even bigger emphasis eventually.

Sure it's sci-fi, but at the same time it IS a possibility!

Well, if you don't count in the fact that some of the stuff is completely absurd. I can't decide whether it's Star Wars or Star Trek that wins in THAT department.

But before I lose myself in too many notes right off the bat, I should probably tell you what book we're looking into.

It's Claudia Gray's Into the Dark, and, man ... yeah, it goes dark alright.

Tome Thursday: Light of the Jedi

Hello everyone!

We are, once again, travelling to the galaxy far, far away.

And man have I missed it.

Every once in a while I honestly feel like jumping into an X-wing and taking off, but it's not every single day that I'm in the mood for it. However, I've been pretty excited about the announcement that came from the Star Wars franchise regarding the direction they'd be taking their publishing efforts.

When someone mentions ANYTHING connected to the Republic - any version of it - I'm going to get excited.

So this entire new premise for the publishing group sounds like something that might go into a REALLY good place after they get over the initial hurdles.

And boy ... are there hurdles, let me tell you.

This new era for Star Wars books begins with Charles Soule's story, titled Light of the Jedi. Let's see what it's all about!

Tome Thursday: Master & Apprentice

Hello everyone!

I am back with my Star Wars reads, something that I haven't done in a while now, but in my defense, I usually don't even have the time when Christmas hits.

I'd been meaning to read this particular book for a while because of the two main characters portrayed within, but then of course life intervened, and other things happened. Now it looks like I'm back on the Star Wars train for just a little bit, as you do occasionally, and I'm really pleased with the choice I made for book material.

It might come as a surprise to some, but I'm actually a really big Prequel fan, and with that a fan of the Old Republic timeline. I enjoy exploring more of the Republic during its heyday, or at least during a time when it was still functional, to a degree.

Obviously the Prequels details the fall of the Republic just as much as the fall of Anakin Skywalker, but I've always been a lot more fascinated with the Republic as such, more than with the building of the New Republic after the Originals.

Some people may call it blasphemy, but I call it everyone has their own taste.

So let's check out Master & Apprentice and see what it's all about, shall we?
