Talkie Tuesday: Robin Hood

"Oo-de-lally!"

Hello everyone!

Welcome to tonight's blog post.

And I really, truly hope you enjoy the choice I made.

I mean, what's there not to like, though?

At some point, we all go nostalgic over what used to be, and this is DEFINITELY one of those that used to be.

Plus it's just really, really good. I think someone once said somewhere that Robin Hood is one of those stories with too many iterations to count, but the best one is still the one in which Prince John is a lion and his side-kick is a snake.

So I'm looking into this one tonight,

Grab your hats and your bows, and let's get on with Disney's Robin Hood!

Talkie Tuesday: Atlantis the Lost Empire

"... in a single day and night of misfortune,

the island of Atlantis disappeared into the depths of the sea."

Hello everyone!

After taking last week off, we're back with a new round of blog posts for this one, and the first to begin them is a Walt Disney Pictures presentation.

I mean, if it's not Disney it's gonna be Bollywood, ya know.

I have to admit that I NEVER watched this as a kid. I remember it's initial release, because McDonald's did Happy Meals with toys from this thing in them, and I thought the princess, with her white hair and such, was super cool, but that's about it.

Dishonor on my cow, I know.

I finally got round to watching it a little bit ago (okay, a WHILE ago, but I had a chance to rewatch it since) and I have to say I'm dutifully impressed by the end results of it all.

Plus, I mean, this is about the legend of Atlantis, in Disney version. What's NOT to like with that sort of premise?

Buckle up and let's descend leagues under the sea, in Atlantis the Lost Empire.

Talkie Tuesday: Beauty and the Beast

"Tale as old as time ..."

Hello everyone!

I honestly can't believe I've never put this one on my blog. I'm not ENTIRELY sure what happened here, but I've pretty much covered about a dozen other topics that are somehow connected to this, and yet never touched the OG.

Or, the OG as my generation knows it, at least.

This past weekend, I was playing Dreamlight Valley and working my butt off to get the two main characters from tonight's movie choice to my village. After succeeding, I felt so inspired and nostalgic that I had to pull up Disney+ just to watch the movie.

... I did then follow it with the live-action from 2017 as well, but who's counting?

In any event, make sure you have your tissues ready, that you've locked the doors from any and all silly suitors, and that you're prepared for adventure that you can't find anywhere else but in this story.

Because we're headed to an enchanted castle to meet a beast, and free him from his curse. Beauty and the Beast a la 1991, everyone!

Talkie Tuesday: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

"Everyone has a light that shines from within - but only a lucky few

can make their light shine bright enough for the whole world to see."

Hello everyone!

Are you excited for what Santa might bring you tomorrow morning?

Yes, yes, obviously I know what's what and who's not real but, the magic of Christmas DOES seem to be particularly strong when it boils down to the actual evening and then day afterwards of the time allotted.

I have to work until 5 pm today (luckily, our shift is shortened!) so I won't be participating in any shenanigans until I get home afterwards, but I honestly can't wait to just sit back, stretch my legs out, and not have to worry about a single thing.

Which means that I'm going to be just like the reindeer who pull Santa's sleigh, since they really only work one night per year for AMAZING benefits LOL.

Tonight's movie choice is all about that, or at the very least all about life up at the North Pole where Santa and his wife rule, and where a lonely reindeer buck with a red nose is the hot topic for discussion from the moment he's born.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, read on: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer flies straight into Christmas next!

Talkie Tuesday: Ice Age Mammoth Christmas

"Just believe in the magic of Christmas."

Hello everyone!

Welcome back.

Tonight, we're taking a look at an oldie that's really turned into a goldie, mostly because I've loved the Ice Age movies from the second the first one aired - I might do a full review of the entire series on here at some point, because why not?

When you've got a mammoth, a saber tooth tiger, and a sloth bopping around together, there's bound to be some sort of comedy gold happening then and there!

And then of course, the studio that made these movies decided they should also ensure the chaotic chosen family got to celebrate Christmas together.

Thus, the subject of tonight's blog post was born.

If you're thinking what I'm thinking, then you're thinking right - obviously we have to check it out, and the good news is, is that it's only about twenty minutes to half an hour long.

So get those quick snacks, because A Mammoth Christmas is flying by!

Talkie Tuesday: The Sword in the Stone

"And the glorious reign of King Arthur was begun."

Hello everyone!

I'm taking it old school today.

And I'm talking very, VERY old school.

Because I was feeling nostalgic this weekend what with some things going on in my family and at work, so I decided to sit down and watch something I haven't in a long while.

Turns out, it's even better nowadays when I can actually UNDERSTAND all the jokes that went right over my head when I was a child!

So without further ado, I'm just going to hop right into it.

Because, like they say in the movie itself, nothing ventured - nothing gained.

And we'll gain nothing whatsoever if we don't talk about The Sword in the Stone.

Talkie Tuesday: The Last Unicorn

"You have all the power you need if you dared to look for it."

Hello everyone!

Well, you probably knew we were going to keep on keeping on with the animated series here on the blog for the last movie review this month.

Next week we return to the realm of The Witcher, if I manage to binge over the weekend BUT, that said and done, we have to have a little romp down Man's road for a bit.

Yeah, see, I really love these oldies. They make me cry at times, but they're the best.

And I remember watching this one when I was super too little to understand much at all, so here I am, re-watching it again and understanding things a heck of a lot more now than I ever did as a little girl.

I also want to read the book now, too. Of course all the best stuff is based off books!

So without further ado, let's hop right into it.

Let's look into the sky where through through the clouds a path is torn, look and see her how she sparkles: it's The Last Unicorn.**

Talkie Tuesday: The Land Before Time

"Some things you see with your eyes, others you see with your heart."

Hello everyone!

I hope you're ready with your Kleenex and your chocolate, because tonight's post is going to be a doozy.

That's right, I'm on an old cartoon animation kick.

And what better way to keep going ... than by going for what, it has been said before, is probably ranked among the top ten saddest movies of all time?

Yes, I watched it voluntarily.

Yes, I recognize this is probably insane.

But anyway!

Without further ado, let's check back in with the land of ... dinosaurs. You guessed it. It's back, way back we go, and we'll hopefully not lose all hope along the way.

That's what sometimes happens if you're watching The Land Before Time.

Talkie Tuesday: Thumbelina

"Always follow your heart."

Hello everyone!

Back again and we continue on the old animated cartoons vibe, because why not, am I right?

Honestly, I'm convinced half the reason why Disney keeps making live action versions of their animated material is because they can't come up with anything new or exciting.

The nineties were the way to go for animation, if you ask me (not counting the OGs that started while Walt Disney was actually alive and thriving, at that).

So tonight we go with another fairy tale retelling, though this one I think has a lot in common with Pinocchio if you think about it, which I'll be doing towards the end of the review, as it struck me while I was watching the cartoon.

First, however, we kinda have to actually figure out what the cartoon is all about, am I right?

So get the popcorn ready, get your Kleenex for the feels, and double check there aren't any moles running around without a care in the world.

Thumbelina's up next.

Talkie Tuesday: The Swan Princess

"For longer than forever."

Hello everyone!

It's time to sit down for another review, and man do I have a fun one for you tonight.

I've fallen into a bit of a movie hole and am retracing my steps to some of the older ones that I loved, LOVED growing up.

Loved so much, in fact, that I might have worn out the VHS tapes we have them on.

Honestly, some movies just stick with you like that, is what I'm going to say.

Tonight's choice is exactly like it, because unlike modern interpretations that always have to have some sort of twist or whatever to them, this one follows the story pretty closely and doesn't try to be anything new or exciting.

Other than infusing it with humour where it can.

So make sure you have some snacks ready to feed angry swans, because they're vicious when provoked. The Swan Princess sails onto your screens, right now!

Talkie Tuesday: Hercules

"What is the measure of a true hero?"

Hello everyone!

This week I'm once again straying just a little, as I haven't poked at Disney in a bit and figured, why not?

Besides, my Youtube algorithm kept suggesting videos from this movie for me and I couldn't resist any longer, not when Hades looked like the funniest thing since that TikTok video of a hamster or gerbil dancing with a water bottle haha!

Disney has been on a roll with live action remakes of its cartoons, most of which reached a fever popularity pitch in the nineties, or at the very least some of the best were released then.

Somehow or other, I never considered this one for viewing pleasure, however.

I'm not sure why.

I mean, it has Greek mythology (adjusted), Danny DeVito (perfect) and it surprised me with the sardonic, often dry sense of humour that you can see right off the bat from the trailer as well.

I'm talking, of course, about Hercules.

Talkie Tuesday: Raya and the Last Dragon

"Someone has to take the first step.

Hello everyone!

So this Sunday marked the break day for Men in Kilts, aka they didn't air the next episode and so I'm saving the fifth for next week because I decided to watch something entirely different on my one afternoon off.

If you look back through my blog posts you'll see that, often enough, I'll run into these Disney animated movies.

I mean, I grew up on these!

Not the 3D ones, obviously, but the original animated cartoons!

Still, Disney has definitely managed to hit the success button with a number of their newer animations, so when I saw the trailer for their latest endeavour, I thought to myself it was something I should probably watch eventually.

This past Sunday turned into that 'eventually', and then it was time for Raya and the Last Dragon.

Talkie Tuesday: Star Wars The Clone Wars

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away ..."

Hello everyone!

For my last movie review before I take a mini summer break, I decided to pick something near and dear to my heart, and also incredibly hilarious while I'm at it.

That, and I was so disappointed yesterday when trying to watch a movie and being unable to get into it that I really needed something else for a pick-me-up, and Star Wars usually works wonders for that kind of thing!

Of course, by this point, we've already looked at the plot of The Clone Wars, or at least its introductory movie, from pretty much every angle, so this isn't going to be a super extra detailed bit of post.

We all know what happened.

We've seen it and/or read it.

So why not go right ahead and dive into the movie then?

Talkie Tuesday: Hotel Transylvania 3 Summer Vacation

"It's party time!"

Hello everyone!

I have a confession to make.

Now that my Turkish soap opera/drama has wrapped up, I don't know what to do with myself in the evenings.

I know, it's ridiculous.

But I DID have time to actually focus on movies this weekend seeing as CBS had a bit of a break and there was nothing to watch on television for a couple of nights.

I didn't feel like going into anything too dramatic or too over-the-top however, and eventually felt the need for something light and funny and airy. And while I enjoyed the first movie of this installment, the second one kind of left me hanging, so I was sceptical about going in for the third.

Turns out, however, that I needn't have worried.

Talkie Tuesday: Smallfoot

"Smallfoot exists, suckas!"

Hello everyone!

After being thoroughly amused by watching The Rock serenade as Maui and his 'You're Welcome' song from Moana, I felt the need to go and watch another cartoon-style movie instead of an action flick or anything of the sort.

I'd heard about tonight's blog post theme before but never got to it.

Why?

Well, I kind of have to be in the mood, I suppose.

And then of course, I keep getting distracted during the week by the Turkish soap opera I watch, Siyah Beyaz Ask.

I know. First world problems!

But anyway.

Without further ado, let's put our warmest winter jackets on, because we're going up high in the mountains. We'll try to locate Smallfoot!
