Talkie Tuesday: The Little Mermaid 1989

"Watch and you'll see, someday I'll be, part of your world ..."

Hello everyone!

I promised you this movie sometime before New Year's, and somehow didn't get to it because I was watching all the other stuff.

That's usually how things go with me, honestly.

BUT, here we are!

We're finally taking a look at how it all began, not counting the original fairy tale that was brought to life by Walt Disney back in the day.

It's wild to me how I didn't even know this movie was originally released in 1989. That's the year I was born! I need to start paying better attention hehe.

Without further ado, however, it's once again time to dig out our fins and dust them off. If you've got any shell bras then you best put them on, too.

Because The Little Mermaid is calling from the deep again.

Talkie Tuesday: The Little Mermaid Live

"Watch and you'll see, someday I'll be, part of your world ..."

Hello everyone!

Something just a smidgeon different for you all tonight.

Or well, a return to my roots, one could say.

Once upon a time, you see, I used to LIVE for these movies - I even watched a bunch, reviewed a fair few as well, because why not?

So then when Disney+ suggested stuff to me after watching the newest The Little Mermaid take, I was like

why not?

Which means you get to sit back, relax, and read through as I discuss the merits of on stage singing during a special viewing of The Little Mermaid.

And bemoan that I never got to see it.

Live, that is. The Little Mermaid Live.

Talkie Tuesday: The Litte Mermaid

"Don't be held back by what you think SHOULD be. Think only of what IS."

Hello everyone!

And welcome to the land under the sea!

Well, the kingdom, empire, whatever you'd like to call it, I suppose.

In any event, welcome to me FINALLY catching up on the current trends and sitting down so that I could watch the latest Disney live action re-imagining of a beloved fairytale

It feels like this is going to be the newest trend for the company giant, although they do periodically release original, animated (and live action) pieces. Yes, I'm looking at you, Wish.

Which, I still need to watch as well, right after the Marvel movies.

But I'm getting off-track here.

Live action movies have a tendency to either go really well, or really wrong, and I feel like tonight's choice is actually really well done, in compare and contrast with some of the others.

So flip your fins and let's go follow the siren song of The Little Mermaid.

Tome Thursday: The Ocean Between Us

Hello everyone!

More books to be had, all around, especially if you're a member of BookSirens.

Which is where, naturally, I picked up tonight's choice.

Okay, I'll admit, it was initially the cover that got me, making me stick long enough to read the premise for the story, and once I did - and got some technical issues out of the way - there was nothing stopping me from devouring this book in two sittings.

Two sittings, one day, give or take. That's pretty good, right?

ANYWAY, this one is for Greek mythology lovers. So brush up on those skillz and polish that knowledge, because there's definitely going to be stuff in here that will tickle your fancy.

Plus on top of that, it's a bit of a mix-and-match with The Little Mermaid, so I mean, what's not to like?!?

Mermaids, princes, curses, Greek gods ... sounds like a regular ole Thursday.

Tome Thursday: Siren's Call

Hello everyone!

While I already have a bunch of books I'm currently going through - as I normally read more than one at any single moment in time, given I'm a voracious reader to begin with - the first one I actually read and finished on my 2021 roster was a bit of a left-over from 2020.

As I've said before, I'm a member on BookSirens, a growing community of writers and reviewers where you can browse through BUNCHES of ARCs and pick and choose which ones you want to read.

It really is that simple.

The only rule of thumb is that you can only start off with one book and need to read it within a given time frame, but as most of those frames are about three months long, I'm pretty sure anyone can meet the deadlines. Once you've proven yourself as faithful, the number of books you can pick increases, and away you go!

I usually have at least three books borrowed from BookSirens at any given time because there's just SO MANY FANTASTIC works and authors on there. And tonight's blog pick is one of those.

I did download it before the holidays started, but in the end needed to wait until after to finally start reading it.

I don't regret it being my first 2021 pick, however. Siren's Call is just that good.

Tome Thursday: Sword of Destiny

Hello everyone!

Returning to a very specific fantasy world based off Slavic folklore, just like I promised two weeks ago (and then got side-tracked, as you do), I am here with another one of Sapkowski's books.

I should also admit that, at this point, the two I've reviewed are the only ones I've read.

Oops?

I'm planning on reading at least the third short story collection, Season of Storms, pretty quickly, but I have a couple of other books I promised to review before I can properly sit down to Blood of Elves.

Yes, yes, I know, our Witcher is an impatient kind of person and he would very much like it everything was reviewed ASAP.

And I'm working on it, I promise.

But when you've got so many other books on your to-read list ... you have to somehow juggle the lot.

I suppose I've become master of the art. For tonight, however, we're back, and Sword of Destiny is our next pit-stop!
