Talkie Tuesday: Robin Hood

"Oo-de-lally!"

Hello everyone!

Welcome to tonight's blog post.

And I really, truly hope you enjoy the choice I made.

I mean, what's there not to like, though?

At some point, we all go nostalgic over what used to be, and this is DEFINITELY one of those that used to be.

Plus it's just really, really good. I think someone once said somewhere that Robin Hood is one of those stories with too many iterations to count, but the best one is still the one in which Prince John is a lion and his side-kick is a snake.

So I'm looking into this one tonight,

Grab your hats and your bows, and let's get on with Disney's Robin Hood!

Talkie Tuesday: Prodigal Son

"I am not my father."

Hello everyone!

This week, instead of a movie, I'll be talking about a show that's become very near and dear to my heart over the past two years of it airing.

Most especially since FOX decided to cancel it after it's second season run.

Looking at the statistics alone that wouldn't be completely shocking if not for the fact this is a predominantly GOOD show, very character driven, with some absolutely stellar acting from an ensemble cast with a lot of plotlines still to tell, and stories that would have kept us on the edge of our seat.

But alas, it looks like that might not come to pass no matter how much we, the fans - called Prodigies - may want it.

Hot on the heels of news that SEAL Team is moving to Paramount+, it's becoming rather clear that networks seem to prefer cheap reality shows to good scripted drama, and people are beginning to take notice - and complain.

Who knows? Maybe someday this might make a difference. For the time being though, Prodigal Son has been axed.

Talkie Tuesday: Hairspray Live

"Good morning, Baltimore!"

Hello everyone!

So every once in a while I run into something that makes me think: I need to see this.

Desperately.

When news broke that Derek Hough had been cast as Corny Collins in the new rendition of Hairspray which would air during the holiday season, I did a little happy jig.

I will admit here and now that I'm a Hough fan, whether it's Julianne or Derek, and especially of Derek because I honestly think the man is an artistic genius. The choreography he can put together is spectacular, either in it's complexity or simplicity, and I've loved watching him on Dancing with the Stars.

Ergo, I was sold on watching Hairspray Live! before they even released news about who would play Tracy or Link or anyone else.

Honestly, you'd think that I would have at least waited until the trailer, but nope, my excitement levels were high even before that.

Talkie Tuesday: Grease Live

"Grease is the word!"

Hello everyone!

You're the one that I want! Those Magic Changes! Hopelessly Devoted to You! Summer Nights! And a bunch of other songs that if I name them I'll be singing along to in my sleep, and I'm pretty sure my family kind of wants to have a quiet night tonight haha!

You guessed it, it's Grease time!

Ever since FOX announced it was going to be making a live rendition of the musical, I've been super excited. Grease is probably one of my favourite, all-time movies, even though I don't watch it as often as I probably could. And once news started trickling out as to who was cast in the respective roles, my anticipation shot off through the roof!

Because, I mean, this is one of the most iconic things on TV you're ever going to see, and you know they have to get it at least semi-right, considering people will be super judgy about it.

To my delight, despite the sound problems, it seems to be a success!
