Talkie Tuesday: Robin Hood

"Oo-de-lally!"

Hello everyone!

Welcome to tonight's blog post.

And I really, truly hope you enjoy the choice I made.

I mean, what's there not to like, though?

At some point, we all go nostalgic over what used to be, and this is DEFINITELY one of those that used to be.

Plus it's just really, really good. I think someone once said somewhere that Robin Hood is one of those stories with too many iterations to count, but the best one is still the one in which Prince John is a lion and his side-kick is a snake.

So I'm looking into this one tonight,

Grab your hats and your bows, and let's get on with Disney's Robin Hood!

Tome Thursday: Magicom

Hello everyone!

Welcome to this week's bookish blog post.

And apologies for missing last week's. Unfortunately, RL conspired against me so I had to be responsible for a bit and skip some of the things I otherwise love dearly.

Don't you just hate when that happens?

Either way, I'm back tonight, and unless there's more unforeseen problems on the horizon, I'm hopeful I won't have to be skipping anything else any time soon!

Onwards.

Tonight's choice of book is another ARC I was very kindly sent by a lovely Goodreads author, which I totally wasn't expecting, by the way. I generally don't jump around waving ARCS AHOY THIS WAY! haha.

But I picked it up, and was very easily and quickly hooked. It's just that kind of a great book, you see. So why don't we take a brief look what I'm talking about with Magicom?

Tome Thursday: Of Heists and Hexes

Hello everyone!

This week on our book adventures, we tramp off into Sherwood forest!

Yup, you read that one right, we're going to rob from the rich and give to the poor, though maybe not quite in the way you'd be expecting to.

See every once in a while I run into some sort of retelling that I actually genuinely like, which means that I'm enjoying myself way too much while reading the book itself.

And because a lot of the books come from BookSirens, I can't help it okay!

They're all wonderful ARCs and all I have to do in return for reading them is review them.

I mean, what kind of awesome system is that, right?!

But anyway, I digress.

I was talking about heists and Robin Hood. So I suppose we should have a look at the book Of Heists and Hexes, by S. L. Prater.

Tome Thursday: Robin Hood

Hello everyone!

I'm finally back after a bit of a break which unfortunately needed to happen because of some RL stuff I had going on BUT! I return!

And I have a book review for you all, first and foremost.

Tuesday's blog didn't get written up so it will be bumped to a Synopsis Saturday one, which you'll all hopefully read just as well, as I'm planning on recapping the premiere of Outlander's sixth season. Are we ready for what's undoubtedly going to be a bumpy ride? Hopefully!

In the meantime, this blog post is a sort of connected one? Maybe? But our own Fraser was an outlaw for a little bit of time there so I suppose the inspiration was certainly in the works.

However MY outlaw is probably the one that's basically the most known across literature and film if you think about it. When someone says rob from the rich and give to the poor, you usually know right off the bat who this is about.

There were many authors who wrote about him, but Henry Gilbert's Robin Hood was the first book I ever read about the famous archer.

Men in Kilts: Clans & Tartans

"Here's to long memories and friendship."

Hello everyone!

Despite the fact that the finale of Men of Kilts aired over this weekend, I'm an episode behind with it all because I took a bit of a break in between, which means that this week and the next will still be Scottish-coloured on the blog.

But when has that ever been a bad thing, am I right?

Our two favourite Scotsmen get themselves into even more trouble and hilarious situations just by existing, and it's one of those things that you really need to watch for yourself to believe.

I mean, sure it's for the show and most of it is scripted, but these two manage to make it look as natural as it comes, which certainly amps up the appeal if you ask me.

I do, however, digress.

Right before the finale, we dived in to have a better look at just what even started this desire to learn more about Scotland and its history - the clans.

Clans & Tartans is up for debate next.

Talkie Tuesday: Robin Hood Prince of Thieves

"No man decides my fate."

Hello everyone!

If you look at the title for tonight's blog post, you'll see I finally, FINALLY managed to get around to actually getting to the proper Robin Hood.

I've covered quite a few on this blog before but I just haven't had the time to come to this one, which is honestly a shame and I know it. I admit it.

Dishonour on my cow.

Then this past weekend, surprise surprise, one of the Cinemax TV channels rolled this movie again because, one, it's basically one of the best things to happen, and two, why not??

My parents hadn't seen it in a while so they watched it together, and I sort of went in and out of it.

But it did remind me that I should do the talking with my fingers.

So here it is! Kevin Hood, ahem, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, here we go!

Talkie Tuesday: Robin Hood 2010

"Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions."

Hello everyone!

I seem to be doing these backwards.

If you recall, some time ago, I made a post concerning the 2018 version of the Robin Hood movie, which could have very easily not been done and if you don't watch it you're not missing out on anything in terms of actual Robin Hood.

Then this weekend, one of our channels decided to do a re-run of the 2010 version, and I said to myself, you know what? For the heck of it, why not.

There's a bunch of other versions out there after all, and I should note that Prince of Thieves pretty much gets re-runs almost as frequently as a sitcom, so mostly once a week, and that movie should be the next in line if I don't find any other in-between the Robin Hoods.

The there's still at the very least the cartoon AND the parody that was made, so, you know, this is the franchise that never dies. I think only Spider-man got more re-makes!

So Robin Hood, circa 2010, here we go!

Talkie Tuesday: Robin Hood

"Who's really the thief?"

Hello everyone!

FINALLY.

I know what you're thinking - this took forever. I KNOW.

I'm sorry!

I don't know what happened that I watched the movie and then didn't immediately review it. I think I was saving it for the week after but then got absolutely distracted by other blockbusters (read: Grindelwald) and somehow this ended up lower on the totem pole.

That's kind of sad, but then again, when you're watching a movie like this, I suppose you don't always need to be happy about it.

What movie am I blabbering about, may you ask?

You may. I will be more than delighted to tell you.

It's called Robin Hood. But if you're expecting Kevin Costner charm, think again.
