Talkie Tuesday: SAS Red Notice

"Psychopaths are incapable of love."

Hello everyone!

I have FINALLY stopped to watch this movie, even though technically it's been out in the world for a little bit now and most of the promotionals and reactions have already surfed about the world wide web up until this point.

But I was effectively busy with a lot of other stuff and other reviews until this weekend when I sat down to give it a go.

Now the thing here is that I mostly wanted to watch it for the lead actor, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I did find some of the supporting cast enjoyable to watch as well, but I'll admit that I wouldn't have been too fussed if some of them had been changed around. Either way, the lead was my ticket in, and that's about it!

Then again, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought along those lines lol.

If you've ever looked around the internet, you'll see that fan groups are probably one of the biggest banes in existence if you're not careful. This one at least seems mostly civilized for the time being.

But enough of my chattering! Time to dig into the business of this movie.

Term Limits (Booktober)

"Remember, we know nothing."

Probably one of my favourite books of all time, though I admit it's an acquired taste. There is A LOT of politics in this one, it's based directly off the political ups and downs in Washington, DC, but Vince Flynn also brings a certain degree of realism into his writing whenever there are any Special Ops forces in his books, so. Term Limits doesn't have Mitch Rapp - but even without Ironman, the retired SEALs make up for it.

If you want to wind down the murky streets by the Potomac river, you don't have to go any further than this book!

In one bloody night, three of Washington's most powerful politicians are executed with surgical precision. Their assassins then deliver a shocking ultimatum to the American government: set aside partisan politics and restore power to the people. No one, they warn, is out of their reach—not even the president. Only Michael O'Rourke, a former U.S. Marine and freshman congressman, holds a clue to the violence ...

Talkie Tuesday: Robin Hood

"Who's really the thief?"

Hello everyone!

FINALLY.

I know what you're thinking - this took forever. I KNOW.

I'm sorry!

I don't know what happened that I watched the movie and then didn't immediately review it. I think I was saving it for the week after but then got absolutely distracted by other blockbusters (read: Grindelwald) and somehow this ended up lower on the totem pole.

That's kind of sad, but then again, when you're watching a movie like this, I suppose you don't always need to be happy about it.

What movie am I blabbering about, may you ask?

You may. I will be more than delighted to tell you.

It's called Robin Hood. But if you're expecting Kevin Costner charm, think again.

Talkie Tuesday: The Brave

"When there's no way out - they go in."

Hello everyone!

This week, I'm shaking it up a little with my blog post, as I've not really watched a good movie in a bit (which I have to remedy, I have a list as long as my arm but have yet to get to it!) and so I'm falling back on a tested-and-tried trope!

When in doubt about movies, talk about TV shows.

Luckily for me, I'm never out of material in that corner. I watch way too many shows as is. I'm pretty sure it's my way of letting out all the tension and anxiety accumulated through day-to-day activities. Losing myself for an hour or so in someone else's problems (whether this means Arrow all over the place or S.W.A.T. kicking down doors, it's all the same) is just what the doctor ordered.

And also luckily for me, this show season (that is the 2017-18) gave me not one, not even two, but THREE military-related shows to go through.

So bring your night vision goggles and kevlar vests - first one up is The Brave.
