Sorry for a bit of delay on Tuesday's reviews, I took last week off because there were other things happening (as said before, it was a special day!) and now I return with a MAMMOTH of a thing.

 

There's no way it's not going to be.

 

Not with the show being 40 episodes long, and each episode covering so much ground it sometimes feels like they're trying to shove a book into 40 minutes, each.

 

And in all honesty I fell into the hole completely by accident!

 

Netflix kept shoving the promo for it right on the front page. Eventually, I decided you know what? FINE, I'll watch.

 

I've since already breezed through twice. And the rest, as they say, is history.

 

So let's take a look at it together in Pursuit of Jade!

 

Tome Thursday: The Architects of Control

 

Hello everyone!

 

I have a treat for you tonight, and a slightly different style of blog than you might be used to from me.

 

Because tonight's book of choice hasn't been released yet - it's coming this June.

 

And I don't want to give anything away too soon!

 

But equally I want you to WANT to read it, so here's my attempt at putting together some cohesive enough writing that will hopefully entice enough for you to pick the actual book once it officially drops.

 

I mean, what could possibly go wrong?!?

 

HAH.

 

Anyway, enough of the chit-chat. You know I like me some political shenanigans in a book no matter when or where - I've read plenty of this stuff, and I probably still will.

 

So you shouldn't be surprised that tonight's book of choice is one of that genre.

Probably one of my favourite books of all time, though I admit it's an acquired taste. There is A LOT of politics in this one, it's based directly off the political ups and downs in Washington, DC, but Vince Flynn also brings a certain degree of realism into his writing whenever there are any Special Ops forces in his books, so. Term Limits doesn't have Mitch Rapp - but even without Ironman, the retired SEALs make up for it.

If you want to wind down the murky streets by the Potomac river, you don't have to go any further than this book!

Tome Thursday: Term Limits

Hello everyone!

Summer is FINALLY here!

It's slated to get even hotter here than it is right now, and let me tell you, as much as this means a little bit of ingenuity with regards to being on the computer in a room that resembles a sauna without AC running, it's high time. We've had a rough going of it in May when we'd normally already be jamming in our daisy dukes, but May went on holiday and stuck us with a prolonged April instead.

So now, with June in the picture, it's FINALLY WARM.

I had such a fun time the other day when I went into town (on foot) and ended up perspiring because it was hot, and not because I was wearing too many layers to battle the cold outside and then melting once I got into an over-warm shop.

With high temperatures also come high stakes, at least in books if nothing else, and tonight is definitely no exception, but rather the norm for this rule!

Vince Flynn is probably one of my all-time favourite suspense authors, and I really need to sit down and read through his entire Mitch Rapp book series. But since I'm probably going to leave that one for the summer holidays, I picked something else for tonight.

A stand-alone of his, called Term Limits.

Tome Thursday: Any Means Necessary

Hello everyone!

I'm veering into a completely different direction with this week's book post, but then again I have been known to do that from time to time. I'll start reading a fantasy book, then get distracted and hitch a ride on the Orient Express with Agatha Christie, and then once I can't giggle at Hercule Poirot anymore I'm going to probably read a silly romance before I return to the fantasy book.

Or, failing that, I'm going to be suggested a book by Kobo, helpfully, and then I'll devour it in a day or two.

This was what happened when Bookbub, not Kobo actually, suggested I might want to take a look at Jack Mars' books, but it suggested book four in a series, and me being who I am, I want to start things from the very beginning, obviously.

So I went and checked it out, and hello! Kobo was offering the first in the Luke Stone thriller books for free.

Obviously, that was a no brainer and I grabbed it, downloaded it to my e-reader, and managed to get through it in two days tops, I do believe.

Because, the female thing aside, I do like a good thriller book.

Talkie Tuesday: Scandal (season 1)

Hello everyone!

So. 

Last time I blogged was for the finale of the Game of Thrones sixth season, and then of course I had it all planned how I was going to do a blog post on Thursday about a Sarah J. Maas book ... but then life happened and got in the way.

I took some time for a short vacation that was pretty impromptu, I'll give you that, and I have no internet connection when I AM down at the seaside, which means I sort of de-tox.

Back in civilization, however, means back to blogging!

One of my best friends has spent the past, oh I don't even know how long trying to convince me that I absolutely HAVE TO start watching Scandal. I had heard of the show before (with the awards it was picking up, I would have to be blind and deaf not to) but I didn't think it was something I'd get into, nor did I like the characters at first glance. First glance being randomly through pictures and one time when I caught the tail end of an episode on television.

That all changed during vacation.
