Talkie Tuesday: Sikandar

"No one is above the law."

Hello everyone!

Welcome to this week's movie of choice.

And boy, is it a GOOD one.

Of course, if you look at IMDB or any of the movie critics' sites, you'll probably think this stinks to high hell and won't ever touch it.

I've learned not to trust those evaluations, because more often than not my personal taste will diverge WILDLY from what the world says you should or shouldn't like. It always comes down to what YOU personally want.

And this one is beautiful, with a soulful story that made me cry at least three times (but who's counting?!?).

Buckle up, then, grab some tissues, and of course your favourite snacks, because we'll be running into Bollywood at full-speed.

It's time for Sikandar.

Talkie Tuesday: Prodigal Son

"I am not my father."

Hello everyone!

This week, instead of a movie, I'll be talking about a show that's become very near and dear to my heart over the past two years of it airing.

Most especially since FOX decided to cancel it after it's second season run.

Looking at the statistics alone that wouldn't be completely shocking if not for the fact this is a predominantly GOOD show, very character driven, with some absolutely stellar acting from an ensemble cast with a lot of plotlines still to tell, and stories that would have kept us on the edge of our seat.

But alas, it looks like that might not come to pass no matter how much we, the fans - called Prodigies - may want it.

Hot on the heels of news that SEAL Team is moving to Paramount+, it's becoming rather clear that networks seem to prefer cheap reality shows to good scripted drama, and people are beginning to take notice - and complain.

Who knows? Maybe someday this might make a difference. For the time being though, Prodigal Son has been axed.

Talkie Tuesday: Valor

"Hooah!"

Hello everyone!

It's Tuesday so I'm back with another blog post, although to be fair my head is beginning to pound for some reason or other and I think I may have to hide out for the rest of the day and not get half of the stuff done that I want to.

Oh well.

In any event, this blog post is going up as per usual, and like I started off and promised last week, it's about another of the military shows which graced our TV screens this autumn.

Last week was all about The Brave, this week we turn over to Valor.

I was honestly surprised when the CW announced that they'd be tossing their hat into the military drama ring, but it looks as if their gamble didn't quite pay off.

So let's talk Valor, people.

Tome Thursday: Billionaire Bodyguard

Hello everyone!

Usually, I will try and steer clear from writing blog posts about romance books. At least, the kind of romance books where you know there's going to be drama, and miscommunication, and drama, and back and forth he loves me-he loves me not, and drama ...

You see what I mean.

But I've been making my way through a bundle of books connected to bodyguards and their charges and generally feeling as if I was actually making a dent in it.

Then I had to chew through Billionaire Bodyguard, the first in a series of books by Kristi Avalon, and figured, this is something I have to rant about, really.

Now I have nothing against the romance genre, or even the bodyguard/charge romance. Honestly, I've liked some of these I've read, and I don't mind most of them if they're done right. Namely, they need to have some rhyme and reason.
