Talkie Tuesday: The Next 365 Days

"Sometimes, the truth is complicated."

Hello everyone!

Urgh.

I kept putting this off as long as I possibly could, but when an April Fool's reminded me that there COULD be a part four, I figured I couldn't really keep away for much longer.

Then again I STILL haven't seen Episode IX so I'm really, really good at not watching things I don't want to.

This one was a so-so for me, because while I did in fact want to see the trainwreck, I knew it was going to be one and didn't think I needed it on a good weekend.

But I had some spare time this past weekend and decided, you know what? I can probably do this.

I barely could.

However I'm now all caught up which DOES say something about tenacity (or plain-ass pig-headedness) I suppose.

Because I survived The Next 365 Days. And I swear, these keep getting worse.

Tome Thursday: The Maiden & The Unseen

Hello everyone!

Once again this week brings you another ARC from BookSirens, because I'm pretty much breezing through them on this end as I pick and choose what I enjoy and what is one of those things I'm not the biggest fan of.

Tonight's choice is no different.

I will say, though, that when I initially read the blurb for the book I was kind of expecting something else, though I don't inherently know why.

I'm pretty sure I just missed all the other signs before I read it LOL.

Don't get me wrong, it's an okay book, just not a book that I would usually find myself reaching for.

It does have one of my favourite mythological couples as it's focus point though, so it's not like I would have been mad either way.

Mythology, yo!

Synopsis Saturday: This Day

"A dark secret is the foundation of any successful relationship."

Hello everyone!

Yeah, I'm back.

No, I'm not happy about it LOL.

To be clear, I only do it out of morbid curiosity. I never would have subjected myself to this disaster otherwise, and yet, here we are.

VERY obviously you all know what I'm talking about.

I'm not entirely sure how this movie rose up to the Top Ten ranking on Netflix but ... probably boredom? What else is there???

It can't be because of stellar acting or awesome plot. None of that exists.

Could be for funny value though ... I'll give them that much.

There WAS some humour in this.

But overall, This Day, a sequel to the infamous 365 Days, is flatter than a pancake.

Talkie Tuesday: Timeless Love

"Most of the time, your heart and your mind are saying the same things.

Just in different ways."

Hello everyone!

I know, I know, I really SHOULD get out of my Hallmark movies binge and into something else. I promise that I'm doing it for next week!

This week was too good to pass up though.

I'd seen the title for this movie rolling around on the list I have, but I never wasted much attention on it until I actually took a bit more interest into who was playing the lead roles.

Rachel Skarsten is one of those actresses you just NEED in your life.

I'd seen her before in Lost Girl, but then of course she went on to play Elizabeth I in Reign, that secretary in 50 Shades of Grey, and most recently Alice in Batwoman.

The woman has skillz, lemme tell you.

So it's no wonder that I fell REALLY hard for this movie of hers, Timeless Love.

Tome Thursday: Blood Vow

Hello everyone!

Right back to the bookish section of my reviews, and I have to say I keep skipping over the reviews I have noted down in my little sheep notebook.

I mean, I'll GET to them. Eventually.

I hope.

But good books keep popping up all over the place! Which means I keep getting distracted and I keep trying to keep up, which is starting to show some wear and tear but I have to admit I'm also doing quite a good job. It pays off to be able to fall asleep reading a book, you definitely get through a lot of them in the evenings.

Anyway, I am right back into the vampire world with this one, because in December I was more than a little bit stoked to see that the new JR Ward book had been published!

I have a long-standing and abiding love for her and her Black Dagger Brotherhood series, so this spin-off was a no-brainer for me. More vampires? More Brothers? Count me the heck IN! Thank you very much.

So, without further ado, let's sink our teeth into Blood Vow.

Tome Thursday: Wallbanger

Hello everyone!

Okay, so I will admit - I may be just a tiny bit embarrassed by the title of this blog, and the book, but I will also say right off the bat that it's not as bad as it sounds. I mean, I've obviously heard of worse (Fifty Shades, anyone?) and never read them, but I ran into this particular book on Goodreads when a friend of mine added it to her want-to-read list, so I went and snooped around a little.

It can't hurt, right?

Well, after  finishing off The Fiery Cross (which, for those of you who don't know, is the fifth book in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, and as with each of her books, a chunk to chew on), I needed something that wouldn't make me want to do history math of who threw who overboard and where bags of tea ended up at the bottom of a bay, not to mention, I didn't need to worry about a rapist coming back to haunt me in subsequent books.

So.

To sum up, I needed a book where I wouldn't have to think along with it, which excluded mystery and thrillers, and I needed something that wasn't historical, and also, fantasy was a no go (I'm stuck at around 55% of The Elfstones of Shannara at the moment, poking myself to continue).

That was how I ended up with Alice Clayton's Wallbanger.

Talkie Tuesday: Furious 7

Hello everyone!

This week, it's back to the movies, and what movie has EVERYBODY talking right now? No, it's not Fifty Shades of Grey anymore, and it's not a Nicholas Sparks adaptation or a swansong to a Tolkien-inspired era.

This week, it's ALL about bald (or nearly bald) muscled people, blue-eyed actors who can make you sob, scantily-clad women, Abu Dhabi ... and fast cars.

Yes, I'm absolutely, definitely talking about 'Furious 7'.

The seventh installment in the Fast and Furious franchise roared into cinemas worldwide on April 3rd, whereas we here in Slovenia were actually (surprisingly) able to see it a day early, on the second of that month. I didn't get to see the premiere, but my girls and I hopped along for the ride this past Saturday with probably everyone within reasonable (and maybe slightly less reasonable) driving distance from the cinema, considering every showing seemed to be sold out!

And yes, four girls can and WILL have a good time watching a movie about cars!

Talkie Tuesday: Fifty Shades of Grey

Hello everyone!

So last week, one of my best friends called and said she had no one to see Fifty Shades of Grey with, and if I'd be game. Now, personally, I'd sworn I would never, ever read the books (because I had the misfortune, I'll call it, of reading about the infamous tampon scene), but the movie ... let's just say kudos to the marketing department. It got me wanting more, and I'm so not a person who would normally want more on these kind of things. But, okay, truth be told, I agreed to go see the movie with her, so I saddled up for what I knew was going to be an ... well, interesting ride, at the very least haha! And before anyone gets all up in arms: despite not reading the book(s), I knew precisely what I was getting myself into, what the movie was about, and what I wouldn't be getting. So, factual check: I knew it would be a BDSM movie, a movie about an unhealthy relationship, and I would so not be getting any lovey-dovey stuff. I would also like to point out that I realize and understand BDSM is something certain people enjoy, and all I can say is kudos to them, but I know it's not my cup of tea, so I won't be trying it - anyone else is welcome to if they wish though. Free world and all that, adults make adult decisions and the like. Now, on to the movie review.
