Tome Thursday: Holiday Hat Trick

Hello everyone!

Can you believe there's almost only a week left for this calendar year?

I can't.

Time has LITERALLY flown by, and it's something that I haven't been able to really fathom, or figure out how to slow the entire thing down if I'm being honest with myself.

And now I'm staring at the end of the year and thinking 'where did the time go?'

But aside from that, we do in fact have another holiday story to look through, and it's another one about second chances.

Holiday ones usually are, come to think of it. People seem to be in a forgiving mood.

And in this one I return to the love of ice hockey while I'm at it, because I miss reading books on the topic. I may need to do some digging and find others in the genre again!

For now though, Holiday Hat Trick will just have to do the job twice as hard.

Tome Thursday: Mistletoe Misconduct

Hello everyone!

This week we're taking a bit of a walk down memory lane, if I'm being honest.

And I feel like I might have to go back and re-read the entire series from the beginning!

See, a while back, I ran into this book called Breakaway, by author Catherine Gayle. It wouldn't have caught my eye at all if not for the fact that it was a book about ... ice hockey.

I know, I know. I know what you're thinking.

What does ice hockey have to do with ANYTHING?

Turns out, rather a lot.

Because Ms Gayle wrote not only an (almost) whole series about an ice hockey team, but she included a couple of Christmas books in the lineup, too.

And because I really, really love the series as a whole, to the point where we've gotten at least, I decided to post about them on here.

We're starting with Mistletoe Misconduct.

Tome Thursday: Catching Hell

Hello everyone!

This. This is what happens when I run out of time.

I resort to reading novellas because my full-length books are sitting there and staring at me accusingly because I have all of them sort-of-read, but not really.

Honest to goodness, I have novels in the works, people.

I swear!

But ... life happens. And it doesn't usually ask if I'd like it to play nice or anything.

Not that it was anything alarming, just things piling up on things and in the end I had to sacrifice something to keep a sane head on my shoulders, which basically means that this week's book blog post has gotten the short stick.

And I apologise.

However, it's not THAT bad. The book was actually entertaining enough to read!

I just never thought I'd find myself reading anything like Catching Hell.

Tome Thursday: Neutral Zone

Hello everyone!

First book blog of the year, and all of a sudden I've realized that I've become pretty dependent on my e-reader. Most of the newer releases are much easier to get a hold of in the electronic versions, which means that, until further notice (and because I was silly and didn't write down as many book reviews as I could have in my little sheepy notebook) I'm going to have to fall back on my physical book cache (which, admittedly, is still pretty formidable).

This doesn't mean anything, really, in terms of these blogs, because I am DETERMINED to keep them going regardless.

And also by the time I need more new releases for this blog I'll probably already have bought a new e-reader or gotten my old one to work again, so there.

For this particular post I chose a book I read during the Christmas holiday season but never actually got around to putting it on here because ... well, Christmas! But I have to say that it's a part of one of my all-time favourite series, by a favourite author, as well.

I'm talking about Neutral Zone, by Catherine Gayle.

Tome Thursday: The Name of the Wind

Hello everyone!

Since it's Thursday, and since I'm done doing official (and less official, but no less important) tasks for the day, I finally have time to sit down and type up this blog post.

Of course the problem here being that I had just bawled my eyes out after not one, but TWO consecutive books I read that literally emptied my tear ducts for the foreseeable future. I honestly have no idea how this happened.

One, I didn't anticipate that there would even BE tears, especially since I was simply rereading a book I had been presented with years ago by my parents after nagging them, incessantly, about having nothing to read.

Yes, I was THAT child.

Anyway, I wasn't expecting to be bowed over trying not to sob like a big baby as I read it. Not fair! I don't remember shedding ANY tears over it originally!

But I digress.

Today's review isn't about me crying crocodile tears, but about The Name of the Wind.
