Tome Thursday: Addie and the AI Boyfriend

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to the blog for another interesting ride tonight.

I first stumbled over this author on BookSirens when I randomly chose a book of theirs that talked about vampires - I know, cliche, right?

But I ended up liking their writing style so I figured, when I got the notification that they had another ARC up to choose from, I could take a second look.

Turns out, their contemporary stuff is even better than their historic fiction one!

And I'm not even joking.

You might look at the title and think to yourself: oh this is some Avengers stuff. You'd be right, too, BUT it's still a fun thing to read through and you have tons of fun while trying to figure out what's going on.

So without further ado, let's hop right in and see what exactly Sarah Saponiara has to say in Addie and the AI Boyfriend.

The Host (Booktober)

"Looks like I'm not the only one who's gone native."

So, yeah. Two Meyer books in a month, I know. But unlike the ups and downs the Twilight Saga had, The Host was a book I pretty much fell in love with the moment I picked it up. What happens when we really aren't alone in the universe, and aliens literally take over our bodies? What if some memories, some people, refuse to fade away? This is what we deal with throughout the book, right along with humanity, the universe, and of course love, but it's even better because technically the characters falling in love don't really see one another ... at least, not both of them.

Honestly it's hard to make an accurate description. You should just read the book!

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, didn't expect to find its former tenant refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. As Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of Jared, a human who still lives in hiding, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she's never met. Reluctant allies, Wanderer and Melanie set off to search for the man they both love ...

Talkie Tuesday: Independence Day Resurgence

"On behalf of the people of Earth: happy Fourth of July."

Hello everyone!

This Tuesday I'm finally back with a regular movie review, and I picked a slightly older one for this post, although 'older' is certainly a subjective term.

In better words, it just isn't recent, and that's that.

But of course once the first trailers started coming in and I even realized there would be a sequel to the highly amusing and pretty awesome Independence Day where I laugh, continuously, whenever Will Smith has to drag the dread-lock alien across the desert after welcoming it to Earth, I was on the edge of my seat.

Especially as it was announced old favourites would be making a comeback to the big screen, although sadly sans Smith. I can't remember what the reasons for his decline were at the time, but we WOULD get his son, at least. Movie-wise that is.

So how about I stop jabbering and start talking about Independence Day: Resurgence instead?

Talkie Tuesday: Edge of Tomorrow

"We should just reset."

Hello everyone!

So tonight's blog post is probably not going to be one of those sterling, praise-waxing I usually post. Then again, I usually kind of like the movies I watch, but every once in a while I run into one that I could have done without.

I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Obviously, tastes differ and some things just aren't for everyone, especially not with as many people as the world has on the surface.

But this surprised me because before I watched the movie the initial reviews and response was positive, largely so, although I will admit I haven't gone back to check whether or not it changed at all after I returned from my summer vacation (yes, this is still one of those from way back when, and hey look, it's almost Christmas too!)

Maybe I should have known it for what it was, but a good friend of mine raved about it and so I kept my hopes up. But Edge of Tomorrow absolutely failed to deliver in my opinion.
