Tome Thursday: The Christmas Leap

Hello everyone!

This feels like it's a bit of a trend now, if I'm being completely honest.

And it probably is!

I mean, thus far, we've been surprised and excited by a Christmas-themed book every year for several consecutive years in a row when it comes to Keira Andrews.

Is it any surprise whatsoever that there would be ANOTHER one this year?

AND the promise of what's hopefully going to be a new one in 2023, too!

But I'm starting to just meander without purpose.

Keira Andrews was probably the first gay romance author I ever stumbled upon when I was trying to find books that I'd thoroughly enjoy in that particular genre.

I've since read quite a few, potentially all of them from her, but I'd have to double check.

The Christmas Leap is a sequel to another one of her works, and I'll be telling you all about it down below.

The Thorn Birds (Booktober)

"When we press the thorn to our chest we know, we understand, and still we do it."

If you DON'T know The Thorn Birds, then you've been living under a rock. Colleen McCullough basically created a masterpiece spanning three generations of women who come to work on a sheep farm in Australia, but the world doesn't end there since we also travel to exotic locations, the Vatican, and we got to see the television show with Richard Chamberlain. Honestly, the love story between the woman and the priest is one you can pick up at any time and you'll probably love it, but it has some added benefits during the fall season, like images of scorching sun and blue, blue sea.

The Thorn Birds is a robust, romantic saga of a singular family, the Clearys. It begins in the early part of this century, when Paddy Cleary moves his wife, Fiona, and their seven children to Drogheda, the vast Australian sheep station owned by his autocratic and childless older sister; and it ends more than half a century later, when the only survivor of the third generation, the brilliant actress Justine O'Neill, sets a course of life and love halfway around the world from her roots. The central figures in this enthralling story are the indomitable Meggie, the only Cleary daughter, and the one man she truly loves, the stunningly handsome and ambitious priest Ralph de Bricassart. And the land itself; stark, relentless in its demands, brilliant in its flowering, prey to gigantic cycles of drought and flood, rich when nature is bountiful, surreal like no other place on earth.

Tome Thursday: Flash Rip

Hello everyone!

When in doubt, always turn to an author you KNOW writes well.

I have a number of contemporary romance authors I turn to when I need something to pass the time with, or just a pick-me-up after having a bad day.

One of them is Keira Andrews.

I stumbled across her work completely at random, and I didn't even really start reading right away, but once I did, you can bet that I was hunting down any and all available books by this particular author.

I think I've reviewed a bunch of them here on the blog already.

In any event, she just published her newest romance, and wouldn't you know it but it coincided rather perfectly with me wrapping up Booktober and starting regular reviews again?

Grab your surfboards, everyone, because it's time for Flash Rip.

Tome Thursday: Test of Valor

Hello everyone!

Time for another book blog, and I once again reached for an author who writes stories that are very near and dear to my heart.

I mean, I never actually thought I'd see the day when I enjoy reading about gay romance, but there you have it, surprises happen everywhere and at any time!

Of course this book is probably not as high on my list as some of her others, but that doesn't mean it wasn't an enjoyable read. I tend to go through her reading material very, very quickly, which does obviously mean I need to occasionally re-read things before new releases happen.

In any event, however, this one was a first read.

It IS a sequel though, so obviously if you want to read this as a stand-alone, you can, but it'll make a lot more sense if you read the first book before it.

I'm talking about Test of Valor.

Tome Thursday: The Station

Hello everyone!

Okay.

So there's something about this particular trope that keeps drawing me back.

I don't even really know WHAT it is, only that, if you find the right authors, it can be absolutely amazing to read.

And Keira Andrews is one of those smashing authors you just love to pick up.

I loaded a number of her books onto my new e-reader but haven't YET managed to read the lot of them. Sadly, life apparently wants to have some claim on my reading hours. Still, I did in fact nibble through one that had been sitting on my to-read shelf for a while, and if it's not the highly anticipated Test of Valor - I'm sorry!

I'm getting there, I promise.

But the book I'll be talking about tonight is titled The Station.
