Booktober!

Hello everyone!

A slightly different post from me, and on an entirely different day.

I know, I'm really going for it, huh?

What I want to say is this: it's October. And this means BOOKTOBER.

Now hold up. There are many, many definitions out there on the world wide web about just what this is supposed to be. I've found a couple; in one, you have to read one book per day in October. In another, it's a month-long read-along in groups, and other cultural activities geared towards reading that bring the community together.

See what I mean?

Mostly it has to do with books, however.

So I'm doing Booktober, too!

What's it going to look like?

Every day, I'll be posting a book I've read onto my blog with a little blurb or a quote or something from the book itself to go with it. This means that by the end of the month, you'll have 31 (potentially 31+) books to check out if you haven't already read them!

Cool, huh?

Get your broomstick and tag along for the ride, then, and I can promise you heaps of interesting titles to sink your teeth into.

Happy Booktober!

xx

Tome Thursday: The Apprentice

Hello everyone!

So for my last book review before my version of booktober begins, I picked an oldie-goldie because I've recently fallen back into the trap of re-reading these yet again.

I also promise there will be info about what's happening in October waiting soon enough, come Monday if all goes well.

For the time being it's still book review hour, which means time to make sure our guns are locked and loaded.

I haven't read any Tess Gerritsen book in a long time actually, and then I went and started reading the second one yet again, which meant I would eventually pick up the rest of the series one more time. When the days turn colder and the rain starts falling, I love picking up a good thriller and munching through it while safely cocooned in a warm blanket.

There's just something so cozy about the scene, isn't it?

Nothing remotely cozy about the book we're reviewing tonight, however.

The Apprentice makes all your worst nightmares come true.

Talkie Tuesday: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

"Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it."

Hello everyone!

I hope you're well during this chilly September.

And rainy. Never forget the rain.

That being said, it's all very September-y and nobody should honestly complain about it. It IS autumn, after all, and it's officially so as well since it's in the last part of the month.

Which means it's time for some warm socks, over-sized sweaters, and warm mugs of tea.

It's also time to return to Hogwarts.

Last week we took our first train to the ancient castle, and this week we're boarding it yet again.

But what happens when the magical barrier that leads to Platform 9 3/4 is suddenly closed?

Tome Thursday: Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Hello everyone!

In a slight departure from my usual reading material I'm diving into something else entirely tonight.

A little while ago, as I was watching a gameplay on Youtube, the channel suggested a different gameplay by the same person, and if you've looked at my blog post since you'll have seen that there are a couple of videos on here by him.

The Beaver does, after all, do AMAZING gameplays!

So when Assassin's Creed showed up on my feed, I was like ... it has Sparta? Wait, is it about Ancient Greece?

Sign me up!

So after getting into the whole gameplay thing I discovered that there is an actual, official novelization to the game proper. I grabbed the book ASAP.

Which means, assassins, it's time to pull down the hoods. Assassin's Creed: Odyssey awaits!

Talkie Tuesday: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

"Ye're a wizard, Harry."

Hello everyone!

As you can probably tell from the title of tonight's blog post, you know exactly which movie I'll be talking about.

I recently had a marathon of Harry Potter movies back when I was at the seaside with my mother, so I thought to myself, what better time to go through them yet again than during the autumn months when the weather is basically PERFECT for witchcraft and wizardry?

After all, the return to Hogwarts is a thing now every September 1st at King's Cross.

Plus, with the prequel movies and all the other hype surrounding the books that are yet to come in this franchise, Harry is everyone's friend, and everyone knows him.

So why not join in the fun, right?

Grab your wands and follow Hagrid, first years!

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is just across the Great Lake.

Tome Thursday: Red, White & Royal Blue

Hello everyone!

One more week, one more book blog, and this week it's one that just might turn into a favourite of mine.

Of course I say this about every third book, give or take, but that's beside the point.

I stumbled upon it by complete accident, I can't even remember how or why, maybe it was a suggestion on Facebook, or on Goodreads? Anyway, once I DID see it, I was intrigued enough to want to read what the story was about in a few sentences, to decide whether or not it would be worth my time.

I think it took me a grand total of five seconds to get a copy of the book.

That's how it happens sometimes, however, and no one and nothing can change that.

I can also honestly say I was not disappointed.

Talkie Tuesday: Avengers Endgame

"Avengers ... assemble."

Hello everyone!

Well, against all odds, I finally made it.

Not that it didn't take me freaking FOREVER.

The thing that happened this time was that I watched three or so Marvel movies in a row and then decided I needed to take a break - then the break turned out to be longer than expected because I just couldn't seem to find the time.

Three hours is a bit much and you need to actually plan to ensure you can get that in one go!

But I did it, and it's all under the belt now. FINALLY.

Of course it's late in comparison to when most people've seen this movie, but at this point it's not something I even worry about anymore.

I'm always late to something or other haha.

Avengers: Endgame was just the current in a long list of my lateness!

Tome Thursday: The Crown of Ptolemy

Hello everyone!

Ohmygosh, I know.

It's taken me absolutely forever to finish this trilogy, and the things are only short e-novellas.

I'm terrible at keeping track of what still needs to be done when it comes to books, because I get too easily distracted by the whole lot of unread tomes out there.

I have a list as long as my arm of things I have yet to read, not to mention a couple of books that are begging to be reviewed, but right now I figured, might as well do something useful and actually stop pissing off a group of demigods.

And magicians. Never forget the magicians.

When Greek and Egyptian magic collide, you're bound to have some really great stories, and among them, Rick Riordan is probably the ultimate storyteller, at least so far as I've seen.

He did give us Percy Jackson, after all.

So let's check out The Crown of Ptolemy, and see what kind of trouble our favourite demigod gets himself into.

Talkie Tuesday: My One and Only

"Love is not about making sense."

Hello everyone!

Well, it's official I think.

Sure we have to wait just a little bit longer for it to actually be calendar autumn, but the weather is definitely not pulling any punches, it's been raining since mid-afternoon yesterday and it doesn't seem like it'll stop any time soon!

This is basically autumn weather; it's autumn, y'all.

Not that I'm complaining. I've had enough of summer for the time being. I love the heat and the sun and all that, but I equally enjoy the transition between seasons, and spring and autumn are lovely when the weather starts to shift again.

To say goodbye to summer, I watched what is I think labelled as the last movie in Hallmark Channel's Summer Nights series, although I was mildly disappointed.

Still, what's done is one. My One and Only, right here on the blog.
