Booktober 2020 Finale

And FIN!

31 (and more!) books covered again this year, and I think we've done a pretty good job.
Hopefully you found something that piqued your interest this month.

Until next time, Booktobers!

Atlantis (Booktober)

"It could be that the legacy of Atlantis was a truly global phenomenon."

Possibly one of my favourite series starters of all time, David Gibbins' Atlantis takes us deep into underwater territory somewhere in the Black Sea to answer questions humanity has been asking since first reading about the elusive Atlantis to begin with. Who were these progressive humanoids who angered the gods so much that their entire civilization was destroyed without mercy? Did any of them survive? And can we actually trace their path, and their origin, at this moment in time? The question of Atlantis will never get old, and burns even brighter in this book which launches underwater archeologist Jack Howard into literary orbit.

From an extraordinary discovery in a remote desert oasis to a desperate race against time in the ocean depths, a team of adventurers is about to find the truth behind the most baffling legend in history. The hunt is on for Atlantis. Because marine archaeologist Jack Howard has stumbled upon the keys to an ancient puzzle. With a crack team of scientific experts and ex–Special Forces commandos, he is heading for what he believes could be the greatest archaeological find of all time——the site of fabled Atlantis——while a ruthless adversary watches his every move and prepares to strike.

Harry Potter #2 (Booktober)

"Enemies of the Heir, beware!"

I mean, what would any self-respecting Booktober be without a Harry Potter book, am I right? We started out at Hogwarts last year, and this year we're back for round two! But do Harry and his friends get any sort of normal school year while attending this particular school of Witchcraft and Wizardry? Of course not. Because if it isn't trolls in dungeons, it's slithering snakes through the school pipe system (and we still don't know how that worked when there weren't ANY pipes to work with). Not only that, but can we please avoid overly-helpful house elves too?

Harry Potter is a wizard. He is in his second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Little does he know that this year will be just as eventful as the last ...

The Lord of the Rings (Booktober)

"One Ring to bring them all, and in the Darkness bind them.

So because I sort of left you all hanging yesterday for both an actual blog post AND the first Booktober post (it being October 1 and all that), I picked a pretty massive choice for tonight. Because what better way to celebrate the fall season than to go on what has to be the most epic adventure of all? Join Frodo and the Fellowship as they embark on the dangerous trek across Middle-Earth to fight off the evil arising from Mordor. Along the way, meet trolls, Elves, tree shepherds, and meddle in the affairs of wizards at your own peril!

In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, to rule over all others. But the One Ring was taken from him. And in the sleepy village of the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task: he must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-Earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose ...

Booktober 2020

Hello everyone!

Just like last year I'll be bringing you something different this October.

Well, different in the sense that it won't just be the two or three blog posts per week which I would normally do on a regular basis.

Booktober is back!

Every day from tomorrow on I'll be posting a blurb about a book I've read on this blog (and on my Instagram account), all the way through to the end of the month. That'll give you 30+ books to check out if you haven't already.

So on with the show, and happy Booktober!

Booktober!

Hello everyone!

A slightly different post from me, and on an entirely different day.

I know, I'm really going for it, huh?

What I want to say is this: it's October. And this means BOOKTOBER.

Now hold up. There are many, many definitions out there on the world wide web about just what this is supposed to be. I've found a couple; in one, you have to read one book per day in October. In another, it's a month-long read-along in groups, and other cultural activities geared towards reading that bring the community together.

See what I mean?

Mostly it has to do with books, however.

So I'm doing Booktober, too!

What's it going to look like?

Every day, I'll be posting a book I've read onto my blog with a little blurb or a quote or something from the book itself to go with it. This means that by the end of the month, you'll have 31 (potentially 31+) books to check out if you haven't already read them!

Cool, huh?

Get your broomstick and tag along for the ride, then, and I can promise you heaps of interesting titles to sink your teeth into.

Happy Booktober!
