Tome Thursday: Ghastly Mistake

Hello everyone!

Well, we did it.

WE DID IT.

I say, as if I were single-handedly responsible for getting these books out. HA. I wish.

Better words to use would be that Byrd Nash did it, getting all six parts of her gaslight romantasy series out into the world at large, and with such ample success too!

I accidentally stumbled over Madame Chalamet on BookSirens, but then after the first three books discovered the author would actually be doing ARCs personally as well, and got myself hooked up to that.

Because there was no way, NO WAY, I'm telling you, that I would be missing out.

Elinor Chalamet is everything you might want in a female hero, and I was going to hitch myself along for the ride to witness her story come to a satisfying conclusion.

And boy, did it!

Time to talk to ghosts one last time (for now) in Ghastly Mistake.

Talkie Tuesday: The Winchesters

"Fate is what you make it.

Hello everyone!

I know, I know.

I've really been slacking in the movie department this spring time. I know it VERY well.

Problem is, there's just SO MUCH GOOD STUFF happening all over, whether it be on television or in the gaming industry, that it's hard to stay focused solely on what's on the big screen.

... come to think of it, I should probably do Top Gun and its sequel at some point, considering just how many times those have been watched in this household.

But that's beside the point.

I'm reviewing the first season of a really, really cool show tonight. Fans of Supernatural may know exactly what I'm talking about, but it's not actually Supernatural.

It's what happened BEFORE Supernatural - because everybody has to start somewhere, right?

Well, so did The Winchesters.

Tome Thursday: Red and Her Wolf

Hello everyone!

This week's book choice once again comes from BookSirens, which, is there any surprise there?

When you can pick up so many really great books for free - the only price being getting a review up - there really isn't much competition or to think about.

The service has definitely helped me discover some really cool books and authors since I joined, so I encourage you to give it a try. It's really good!

But back to the show.

This week we're weaving through the realm of paranormal or supernatural again, but this time there's also the element of a fairy tale retelling.

There really isn't all that much more to say about it other than to simply dive right in, otherwise what good is an intro, right?

Tome Thursday: Tempted by Twilight

Hello everyone!

I'm back with something that ISN'T Hunger Games related, even though I know I still have the prequel to read, but I needed a break from it so picked up something from BookSirens yet again.

For those of you who don't know yet, BookSirens is a site where you can sign up and pick up different ARCs from, from different authors and genres. The only limitations are how many books you can read to start off with, and how long you have for each book before you're asked to supply a review, on the site itself or on Goodreads, Amazon, etc.

I really like it, they usually give you 90 days, which is MORE than enough for 200 pages (rough estimate), and you can find some really cool hidden gems on there!

I've probably run into more than my share of books that I've fallen in love with thanks to them.

But I took a bit of a break over the summer holidays, and am now back to perusing their choices from the shelves, so here we are.

Tonight's pick is definitely one for this spooky autumn, as it deals with the supernatural, and then some.

Tome Thursday: Clay's Hope

Hello everyone!

As promised last week I'm back with a review on the mirror image of the book we talked about that time.

If you remember, I'd fallen off the deep end and into the world of werewolves and very unspecified supernatural humans who seem to be able to either see the life force of others or make predictions or stuff like that.

It's one of those things that you either roll with, or you never get the hang of it I think.

Me?

I totally rolled with it.

I'm fine with paranormal and supernatural so long as there's some sort of arc to the storytelling, and this one was a kind of Beauty and the Beast one at that. And we all know how we feel about it!

So now we've heard all about what Beauty thought.

It's time to take a look at Beast in Clay's Hope.

Tome Thursday: Hope(less)

Hello everyone!

Today I'm bringing you something a little bit different, or at least different to what I've been reading recently.

It's been a while since I found a really good supernatural book that I'd actually enjoy to the point where I'd want to immediately gobble down the rest of the series; usually what'll happen is that I'll like the first book, but it won't hold my interest all that much that I'd want to devote more time to the subsequent ones.

Not with this.

I picked this one up at random, I think BookBub suggested it to me and the first in the series was free at the time, so I was like sure, why not.

I don't often like YA books, not anymore at least, because I think I've just outgrown them, and most feature a heroine who runs off at the first sight of problems when all you want to do is shake her and tell her to JUST. COMMUNICATE.

This one wasn't like that, which is probably part of the allure here.

Are you ready for this? Better have some hope, because Hope(less) is up next.

Tome Thursday: Hunter's Moon Witch

Hello everyone!

This week on my book review list comes one that I actually wanted to read much earlier but somehow got too distracted by every other book thrown my way.

And yes, there's a lot of those!

But I can never stay away from Serenity Woods for too long, no matter what else I'm doing, and I'm blessed to have been granted the chance to read and review this particular prequel to a new paranormal mystery romance series!

If that sounds like a lot of adjectives, you're right. There's a bunch.

But they all convey the message they're supposed to!

If you've been following Ms Woods and her career for a bit, you'll know she's usually more of a contemporary romance writer, but let me tell you, that's not stopping her from making this book absolutely fantastic.

So let's check that the cauldron's bubbling, and see what Hunter's Moon Witch is all about!

Tome Thursday: Wild Heart

Hello everyone!

It's time for yet another book review and, yes, you guessed it, I turned to my usual go-to for whenever I feel as though I need a good, solid romance story with a happily ever after that doesn't come at the price of me tearing my hair out at either the hero or heroine being completely ridiculous by not just TALKING things through.

I mean, what's the price of talk nowadays? Millions of dollars?

You'd think so by how certain authors will add unnecessary complications into a fictional relationship simply for the sake of a complication itself.

Anyway.

Serenity Woods does NOT do that, I'm happy to report, although I do have to admit I ran into one of her books that didn't quite mesh up with what I'd been expecting ... but it's not tonight's subject, I promise.

No, no, tonight's subject is one of those I actually devoured fairly easily.

It's titled Wild Heart.
