Tome Thursday: Hunted by the Undead

Hello everyone!

Welcome to tonight's book of choice for the blog.

And dare I say, it's yet another banger?

To be honest though, I tend to only post the good ones on here, rather than ones I sometimes stumble upon that I either don't finish, or barely make myself finish (yes, they are the rarest of gems as I'm basically a black hole for reading, but they DO exist, I promise).

I think I might have only really posted a bad book review on here maybe once or twice, but that's about it.

As far as things go, it's only positives, bby!

Now without further ado, let's hop right into it, shall we?

We're revisiting one of my absolute favourite authors with her newest release that just hit the shelves this month, and it's time to brush off our knowledge of elemental magic for this.

Ladies and gentlemen: C. L. Carhart's Hunted by the Undead.

Talkie Tuesday: The Black Dagger Brotherhood

"Long live the King! Long live the Queen!"

Hello everyone!

So I know that this show's first season finished airing a little while ago, but I was super busy with work and couldn't get around to actually finishing watching it until ... well, just this past weekend, actually.

It's a sad reality we live in at the moment, but work unfortunately must come first.

However, having said that, I HAVE now finished, and wanted to share my thoughts about the six pretty much feature length movies that they released!

Spearheaded under the Passionflix studio, which I never really knew existed until this show was announced, the project has been crafted rather lovingly, all things considered.

I mean, you see people around the world complain about adaptations on the daily.

There isn't that much to complain about this one.

Because when you draw the line, it's pretty much page-to-screen with The Black Dagger Brotherhood.

Tome Thursday: Dark Lover

Hello everyone!

For some reason, I never actually got around to putting this book on my blog.

Or, alternately, finishing the series to begin with.

I know, I know, BLASPHEMY.

Dishonor.

All that jazz.

Unfortunately, however, once the series sort of stopped being as interconnected as it used to be - I think the author switched publishers and they focused on the newer books being more standalones than grouped together - my interest dropped.

I do have plans to finish, since I'm curious to read about the new generation we only meet as babies initially, but for right now, I think it best if we go right back to the beginning, true?

After all, what can an end mean if you don't know how it all started?

Without further ado, Dark Lover.

Tome Thusday: Ghost Writer

Hello everyone!

Welcome to another fun, cozy mystery review.

I like me some of those, particularly when the weather turns a little bit foul in some aspects. There's something so NICE about curling up with a book that deals with, say, crime of some sort, or even Jane Austen (completely other end of the spectrum, I know), as opposed to action and adventure when it's all sunny and nice outside.

But I digress.

I'm actually working through a backlog of my book list, because I'd been reading these voraciously as last year was drawing to a close, and then of course December happened and I always only do Christmas-themed reviews at that time.

And so, more typing fodder now!

So hop along for the ride as we return to Salem and a really fun author, Dina Marie, takes us along for a ride with her character, Clara. She's renovating an old house and running into spirits of the deceased, because apparently the renovation is a hobby, and the investigation is her main job now! As you'll see in Ghost Writer.

Tome Thursday: Branded in Love

Hello everyone!

And welcome to tonight's book of choice.

Which, I'll admit, I honestly thought I had already reviewed, but APPARENTLY, for some reason, I skipped over it?

I don't know why. Don't even start asking questions, because I probably won't be able to answer them LOL

In any event, I found out at the perfect time to be able to have a look at the book, which just so happens to be the first in a series, or at least the first in a spin-off series, because apparently, there's a heck of a lot more of them.

I also inconveniently managed to start with, like, the fourth one? Instead of the actual first? So of course I had about zero clue when I read that, and now reading this one I'm confused with some of the characterizations haha.

Still, it's an entertaining world to be in, so why don't we head on for the quick ride that's going to be Branded in Love?

Tome Thursday: Song of the Abyss

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to the land of the mermaids.

Yep, I said what I said.

When you accidentally run into one of the best books you've read this calendar year, you don't just drop it like a hot potato and never look at it again.

You probably read it again, and again, and again, which is exactly what I've done with tonight's choice for blog post, honestly.

I think I've read this thing about five times since first getting my hands on an e-book copy, and I've since bought it in physical form so that I can skip around pages more easily (yes, you can do it on an e-reader too but, I still find it easier in an actual book, sue me).

Since then I've also been reading some other works by Emma Hamm and, let's just put it this way, you'll be seeing them on this blog with the passage of time.

But first, let's really return to the deep. Let's check on the guy who was an absolute ass in the first book, but is really just a wounded soldier, and we learn all about that - and more - in Song of the Abyss.

Tome Thursday: Going Ghost

Hello everyone!

Welcome to tonight's book of choice.

I was honestly going to pick something else - a fanfiction, actually, which I hadn't read in years and forgotten just how GOOD these used to be - but then ended up finishing this book instead, so I figured, why not feature it?

It's exactly my kind of thing.

It's got a compelling heroine, a cute doggo (you ALWAYS want to read books that have cute pets involved!), a backstory that you want to keep reading about, a murder mystery that just so happens to fall into the heroine's lap, and a ghost running around who's gallant and a gentleman.

And oh, someone with green eyes that's NOT a ghost but keeps popping around the town of Salem, Massachusetts.

I mean, what's not to like, am I right?

So here we go. This is the first in a very new series, and I'm definitely going to be picking up further books, just because. But we're starting with Going Ghost.

Tome Thursday: Magical Gift

Hello everyone!

And, once again, welcome back to the land of Teutonica!

Listen, okay, you cannot be telling me that, if you pick up ANY of C. L. Carhart's books, you won't be hooked. Sure you might occasionally wonder whether a passage might have been written a little bit less rigidly, but those are RARE.

Overall, these books are fun to read, they flow nicely, and the characters they introduce usually always slip right into your imagination with no problem at all.

Then, to top it all off, they ALL get their happy endings!

If that isn't an added blessing then I don't know what is, to be honest.

So come along with me as we hop right into another series by the author, set in the same world with the same magical rules, but with different characters testing out slightly different waters.

While we're at it, we'll be tying back to the original one and having a whole lot of fun along the way!

Ready? Awesome, then let's get right into Magical Gift.

Tome Thursday: Whispers of the Deep

Hello everyone!

I know some of you might be anticipating - or I hope you're anticipating! - my review of the second season House of the Dragon just graced us with, but I ended up deciding to type that one on Saturday, so that I have PLENTY of time to do it right.

For tonight, we're diving in deep.

And I mean DEEP, deep.

Because we're about to enter a story about mermaids, and what's more, it's a mermaid story that I REALLY love, or ended up loving in any event.

I wasn't expecting that, because recently the books I've been randomly picking up have been a bit on the eh side, but this one? Chef's kiss.

This one's basically restored my faith in the paranormal romance genre, so I'm now just working my way through another ARC before I grab the second in this series.

So put on your rebreathers and your flippers - it's time for Whispers of the Deep.

Tome Thursday: Ghastly Mistake

Hello everyone!

Well, we did it.

WE DID IT.

I say, as if I were single-handedly responsible for getting these books out. HA. I wish.

Better words to use would be that Byrd Nash did it, getting all six parts of her gaslight romantasy series out into the world at large, and with such ample success too!

I accidentally stumbled over Madame Chalamet on BookSirens, but then after the first three books discovered the author would actually be doing ARCs personally as well, and got myself hooked up to that.

Because there was no way, NO WAY, I'm telling you, that I would be missing out.

Elinor Chalamet is everything you might want in a female hero, and I was going to hitch myself along for the ride to witness her story come to a satisfying conclusion.

And boy, did it!

Time to talk to ghosts one last time (for now) in Ghastly Mistake.

Tome Thursday: Runt of the Pack

Hello everyone!

And this week, I welcome you to something slightly different in terms of books, at least for me, since I usually DON'T read these.

But when BookSirens suggests something, who am I to disagree with it?

Especially as it hasn't steered me wrong yet!

Thus far, I think I've thoroughly enjoyed every single book I've picked up, or maybe there were a few that slipped through the cracks of enjoyment, but, overall I'd say the success rate has been pretty high here.

So when I grabbed this one, I wasn't overly worried, although I WAS thinking it would maybe be a little bit longer even.

No matter.

Because the fate of a pack is in our hands. As depicted in Runt of the Pack.

Tome Thursday: Gift of Wind

Hello everyone!

We are once again back in the land of Teutonica, and if I'm not mistaken, the next book in the series might just be the last.

What a ride it's been!

Although some readers might say there wasn't much to the overarching plot and such, I say differently. It WAS a bit slow in starting, but that doesn't mean that it didn't REALLY get going once it hit full throttle.

We've been at it for a bunch of books and a handful of novellas now, and my goodness, have I enjoyed every single one of them so far.

This book was no exception whatsoever!

So without further ado, let's jump straight into it, shall we?

Because we're being called, by ice and wind both, in the book aptly titled Gift of Wind.

Tome Thursday: Haunted Grave

Hello everyone!

And welcome to the first post-Christmas book blog that is an ABSOLUTE treat.

When I originally stumbled across this book series as a member of BookSirens (you know, that online platform which brings together authors and readers for mutual benefits of free books - free reviews), I was hesitant because a "Sherlock Holmes inspired story" has been done before, and not very well.

Then I started reading Madame Chalamet and her mysteries, and changed my mind.

Byrd Nash has such a way with words and manages to draw you in with her characters, in particular in this series, but I'm absolutely going to try and get my hands on some of her other works.

I may have found another favourite, after all!

But for right now, I need to not digress.

Because things are going bump in the night, and turning uglier and deadlier.

Which is probably why this book is quite appropriately titled Haunted Grave.

Tome Thursday: Gift of Water

Hello everyone!

And once again, welcome back to the land of Teutonica.

Yes, yes, I’m getting boring I know, but don’t worry – this is the last book of the series I’ll be reviewing for a while, because the next one doesn’t release for a little bit.

Of course once it DOES, there’ll be a review on here, you can bet as much.

But I think that we can leave the witches and their priests to their own devices after this, don’t you?

In any event, it’s time to finally review the one book that’s eluded me because of my laptop troubles, which I read back on summer vacation and didn’t get to up until now.

Not a novella, but none of these are long enough to really cause headaches, so here we go, shall we?

Gift of Water, ladies and gentlemen.

Tome Thursday: Gift of Air

Hello everyone!

And welcome back to yet another wandering into the land of Teutonica.

I may, at some point, stop writing reviews solely about this series - but I have to admit that they have me hooked, and as it's ongoing, and I'm kind of lagging behind (I'm missing the latest entry in the mainstream books!) I need to catch up.

So here we are.

Having just recently discovered that the prequel to the ENTIRE series was free on Kobo, you can probably guess what happened.

Yep, I grabbed it.

Then I read it in one sitting.

And here I am now with a review for you guys.

Gift of Air is now here.

Tome Thursday: Gift of Light

Hello everyone!

And welcome back to the land of Teutonica.

Yep, we're back with the witches, appropriate, isn't it, given that we're headed towards the end of October?

Although speaking of, WHERE has the time gone??? I really wonder.

I swear it was just yesterday when we walked into autumn and now we're already halfway through it, marching straight towards winter.

No clue where the time went. None.

BUT back to the actual point of this blog post, which is that we're taking a look at a prequel novella of sorts for the Elemental Bloodlines series, you know, the one by C. L. Carhart?

The books I've been reviewing on here for a while now?

Well, they're getting an addition tonight, and it's called Gift of Light.

Tome Thursday: Gift of Darkness

Hello everyone!

I'm back with another fresh installment from the Elemental Bloodlines series, which if you haven't discovered or picked it up yet, you absolutely should.

It's been a while since I've last read anything about magic which would cover the elements as well as this one does, though I'll admit it occasionally does leave something to be desired and you might struggle on moments.

BUT the important thing?

Is that these are fun, heartwarming books with an underlying tension that's slowly starting to come to the fore, and I love it.

I also love how even though we're seeing repetitions of certain elements, we also get to see slight differences of them and how people use them.

Besides, it's not like we have a ton of said elements to begin with, after all.

But enough blathering on my side. Because it's time to dance with the darkness and see if we can come out unscathed. Gift of Darkness will tell us all about it!

Tome Thursday: Gray Lady

Hello everyone!

A full April spent perusing and browsing through a single book series.

What could possibly be better, I ask you?

While the previous three books could be picked up on BookSirens - the lovely, lovely online resource for readers and writers alike when it comes to exchanging ARCs and reviews - this one was only available to the people lucky enough for Ms Nash to specifically choose for her team.

I count myself extremely honoured and humble to be a part of it.

And I am LOVING this series.

Like, seriously!

When all is said and done, this is a magnificent slow burn paranormal-based romance, and I truly wish that everyone would pick up a copy to read. It's just THAT good.

So without further ado - we return to the realm of ghosts tonight, in Gray Lady.

Tome Thursday: Delicious Death

Hello everyone!

Back again with another really, really good book, and I can tell you right now straight off the bat that I'll be doing a speed-run through these that have already been published until I run out of material.

The best part?

There's two more still to come.

Or at least it's projected to cover six novellas and we're supposed to get a conclusion this year, which is always exciting, because I feel that as readers we do often have to sit and wait for what feels like forever to get to a certain point (looking at you, Martin and Rothfuss).

Byrd Nash isn't like that. She's also a lovely woman to chat to, so if you haven't picked any of her books up yet, I highly suggest you do so.

Last week we started on our journey with Ghost Talker, so this week it's only right and proper that we keep on keeping on with its sequel.

After all, ghosts - and ghouls - don't usually wait for anyone, so let's see what Delicious Death has to offer.
