Saturday Snippet: Sapporo

Hello everyone!

Aside from making headlines even around the world because of the higheway pile-up accident (yeah ... not a very good day to be driving around near the seaside here on this end, unfortunately ... ), we made the big league news yet again in Sapporo!

Ski jumping may just become our favourite winter sport, but no one ever said our skiers weren't good, either!

Still, this picture below is very nice to look at, wouldn't you agree?

Tome Thursday: The First King of Shannara

Hello everyone!

Book talk time, as it happens every Thursday, and somehow, I've managed to accumulate so many books I'm not even sure how or when I managed that.

Isn't it supposed to be easier to watch TV shows or movies and raking them together than getting so many books?

Apparently, for me it isn't. I'm actually struggling with the movies thing, although to be fair I've devised a system now because I do have a bunch of movies still left over to watch, and those new ones that keep on popping up ... yeah, I have my work cut out for me haha!

But each Thursday I talk about books, and although I promised myself I wouldn't type this one up before I finished the entire trilogy, I decided that, as this is a prequel and not in the trilogy itself, it can have a stand-alone blog post and nothing will be hurt from it.

As I've predicted in my earlier Tweet, I'm talking about The First King of Shannara.

Talkie Tuesday: The Battle of the Five Armies EXTENDED EDITION

Hello everyone!

Movie blog time again, after I pretty much had to wrestle my internet connection into submission. The thing suddenly decided to go all wonky on me even though it had a perfectly good signal to work on!

Typical.

As I promised in my last Saturday blog post, today (or tonight, I should say, given that it's pitch black outside while I'm typing this) it's going to be ALL about the Hobbit.

Again.

I'm sorry about that.

But I'm definitely a hardcore Tolkien fan, and I've been pretty much itching to see the extended edition of the Battle of the Five Armies since the theatrical edition was released to cinemas! Why? Well, because the EEs usually have much better scene connections, and explanations.

Saturday Snippet: Lazy Day

Hello everyone!

Today was a sort of lazy day for me because I really, truly didn't do anything much. The most I can say I've done is read a little bit of Agatha Christie, spent time with my family, and this afternoon I watched the Battle of the Five Armies Extended Edition.

An actual blog post on this is coming Tuesday though, so keep your eyes peeled for that one!

To keep it simple and sweet though: some of my faith in Peter Jackson has been restored with this one.

Have a good weekend!

Tome Thursday: Soundless

Hello everyone!

It's time to blog about another book, and I just realized this week that I'm running low on movies to review, as in, I'm running low on the movies I've already seen and stocked up on. I think I need to revise my strategy a bit so that I can cram some more in, although to be honest I'm not entirely sure how that's going to happen.

There's just so much going on! Not only online, but away from the computer, as well, and reading has always been my escape, more so than watching something.

But I'll make it happen, somehow.

In the meantime, I'm no slacker when it comes to blogging, or at least I try not to be, although this Tuesday was a bit of a cheat as far as things go ...

Still, you enjoyed Bernard the Flamingo, right? Right?

Back to books.

And the author that I usually adore, Richelle Mead.

Talkie Tuesday: Agent Carter

"California's going to go to hell in a handbasket!"

Hello everyone!

Tonight's post is going to be a bit on the shorter side because I spent most of my day away from home and then ended up watching the Return of the King when I got back so my attention span is pretty much zero at the moment.

But I want to stick to putting a blog up three times a week, SO.

Here goes nothing.

Tonight, I'm not talking about a movie. It's one of those moments when I just randomly decide to talk about a TV show instead, but really, I mean, the date is perfect seeing as it's the 19th of January, right?

Because it's the premiere of Agent Carter, two hours, for season two this time around!

Saturday Snippet: Peter Prevc

As an upbeat to the rather sad week this has been, my country once again stood at the highest position after our ski jumper won today! No other words are necessary, I believe!

Tome Thursday: Blood Kiss

Hello everyone!

So I'm back to reading about vampires, which, really, shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Every once in a while, I'll stumble over some book or book series that will give me my needed bloodsucker dose, although admittedly not everyone does it with as much fanfare as JR Ward, I think.

If anyone has been keeping track of my blog (which I hope you have, but oh well, fingers crossed!), I've been a Ward fan since a very good friend of mine introduced me to the series.

Or, well, the story goes like this: she kept on talking about it, and I sort of kept it in the back of my mind, that I have to read these books, but at the time I didn't have my ereader yet, so it was a bit of a problem until I figured out I could convert the files to PDF, which could then be read on my poor phone (the thing might have died a thousand deaths over one book ... I am still chagrined over that) to my heart's content.

And I was hooked.

Not only are these vampires badass, six-foot-sixers, the lot of them, with black belts in martial arts and zero clue in social behaviour, but they're also sexy as hell.

No surprise to anyone, then, that when the spin-off series was announced, I squealed.

Talkie Tuesday: The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

"How's THAT for entertainment?"

Hello everyone!

This movie review should have been posted before I posted the one for The Abominable Bride, but my Sherlock enthusiasm got the best of me even though the movie night I spent with my friends watching a trio of agents run around the screen (sometimes like chickens with their heads cut off) was also as enjoyable as the latter one.

Not to mention, I had been DYING to see the movie.

I mean, it's a no brainer here that The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was on my list because of the assembled cast, though most notably the principle male leads, namely Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer.

Okay, yes, I may have a bit of a crush problem.

I don't deny it!

But take a good, long look at those two and tell me you wouldn't have the same one. It's not like they're two sacks of potatoes, after all.

And the movie, of course, was really good.

Saturday Snippet: Jumping Back In

Hello everyone!

Now, I don't normally do 'New Year's Resolutions', mostly because I've never had any reason to, and because, frankly, I'm a bit stubborn.

If I want to get something done, I'm going to do it, even if it means pushing my head through a concrete wall.

For that, I don't normally have to make any kind of list of things that should get done - I do mini-lists every day, anyway, and I'm pretty content if I manage to cross them all off, or if I do delegate them to tomorrow, that they get done within a day or so.

But I figured I could write down some stuff I DO want to achieve, in a more permanent reminder (although hm, posting this onto my wall on a large Post-It probably wouldn't hurt, either!).

Get an actual job
Finish book 5 and get it online
Write more
Keep up with friends better
...

I might add to this haphazardly as I go along, and take from the list, too, once I finish something. Do you think I should add anything else right now?

And what can be found on YOUR to-do lists?

Tome Thursday: A Court of Thorns and Roses

Hello everyone!

I will apologize in advance if parts of this blog are going to be slightly less coherent or even a little bit muddled. For some reason or other, I've been fighting off a headache all day long and nothing has really helped, so I think a good night's sleep will be just about the only thing that does at this point. However, I am determined to get this post out, since if I start missing out on these my rhythm will be practically gone.

I have what feels like a billion other books to type about, but I just managed to finish one that's relatively new today, mostly because it's one of those you can't put down unless someone physically forces you to.

Although, I will admit, I have yet to finish the Throne of Glass series, which is pretty amazing in its own right, I had to start A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas because, well, I've always preferred Beauty and the Beast to Cinderella.

Though the author did absolutely make me like her Cinderella rendition more than the original one!

Talkie Tuesday: The Abominable Bride

"If you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

Hello everyone!

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a festive and cozy get-together with the people you care about the most, and started off this calendar year with a bang - I know I did. Not so much the bang as it was the previous part, as I was lucky enough to spend my New Year's Eve with very good friends who make everything a whole lot less problematic and seem much brighter than it sometimes is. And then I got to go home to my family, which, of course, is even better.

To top it off, the first weekend of this new year was spent in the most delightful way imaginable (I may be chaneling my inner Galadriel here, but An Unexpected Journey was on TV this Sunday night, blame it on that): watching the Sherlock special, The Abominable Bride, surrounded by a bunch of Sherlockians and Sherlock-enthusiasts!

Really, life just doesn't get any better than that.
