Talkie Tuesday: Skyscraper

"If you can't fix it with duct tape ... you ain't using enough duct tape."

Hello everyone!

So by now you've probably noticed I have a thing for Dwayne Johson's movies.

Or at least his recent ones, though I have to admit that the Scorpion King was also an entertaining thing to watch, way back when.

More to the point, however, the Rock just brings something to his movies that I don't often see with other actors, and that's saying something.

So a week or so ago, I managed to start tonight's blog topic.

And by start I mean I watched about half an hour (maybe twenty minutes) before my sister decided I needed to focus my attention on her. I can watch the movie later, right?

Right!

So then this weekend I FINALLY managed to sit down and finish this thing.

It's called Skyscraper, and no, Demi Lovato doesn't have a cameo in it.

Tome Thursday: Third Daughter

Hello everyone!

It's back to books, and I keep picking up new ones in my Kobo library. As I've said once or twice before, what happens with major retailers is that they will sometimes offer the first one in a given series for free, maybe at the author's wish or with the author's cooperation, so that reviews can be posted and some sort of reaction given before you want (or don't want, depending) to continue reading the entire thing.

This was how I happened upon Susan Kaye Quinn's Third Daughter.

I'll admit, as much as I usually DON'T go for the covers, this one intrigued me since not that many stories even happen in an Indian setting, or if they do, they don't really say much about the culture to begin with, so you could really be anywhere at all.

I was hopeful when I picked this up - a supposed mix of a sort of medieval/Indian/steampunk romance and mystery - that it wouldn't be the case here.

The end result was sort of ... a mix and match, actually.

Tome Thursday: Soundless

Hello everyone!

It's time to blog about another book, and I just realized this week that I'm running low on movies to review, as in, I'm running low on the movies I've already seen and stocked up on. I think I need to revise my strategy a bit so that I can cram some more in, although to be honest I'm not entirely sure how that's going to happen.

There's just so much going on! Not only online, but away from the computer, as well, and reading has always been my escape, more so than watching something.

But I'll make it happen, somehow.

In the meantime, I'm no slacker when it comes to blogging, or at least I try not to be, although this Tuesday was a bit of a cheat as far as things go ...

Still, you enjoyed Bernard the Flamingo, right? Right?

Back to books.

And the author that I usually adore, Richelle Mead.
