Talkie Tuesday: Death on the Nile

"It takes two."

Hello everyone!

We return to the world of old Hollywood glamour, murder mysteries, and great mustaches.

No, seriously, we do.

You may have noticed that this blog features works by Agatha Christie rather often, and that's on purpose given that I thoroughly enjoy anything and everything that woman has ever written.

So when there are adaptations, you can bet I'll be somewhere close, or at least not far behind!

I'm a sucker for a good murder mystery, okay?

That said, I wasn't that much of a sucker for Kenneth Branagh's remake of Murder on the Orient Express, but I wanted to give this sequel to it a go because ... well, I'm a glutton for punishment.

And it wasn't even TOO bad, overall, if not for the blasted ending.

Hold on to your hats, we're taking a cruise through Egypt in Death on the Nile!

Talkie Tuesday: Mirror Mirror

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?

Hello everyone!

You didn't think I'd leave you hanging and not review the second Snow White-themed movie that released at around the same time (or at least the same year) as Snow White and the Huntsman, did you?

Of course not.

I remember thinking at that time that it was a bold choice to have both movies in that same time frame, especially given the fact that it was such a competition back then, and still is, but it looks as though people may have learned from that by now and stuff like it doesn't happen anymore.

Or maybe I just haven't noticed it, which could also be the case.

In any event, I'm getting wildly off-track here.

For this week, we continue on with our Snow White extravaganza, because there is no escaping the magic mirror and Evil Queens who can't bear to have anyone be more beautiful than they are.

The very aptly titled Mirror Mirror is up next!

Talkie Tuesday: The Lone Ranger

"Never take off mask."

Hello everyone!

I had a different review lined up for this Tuesday, but then what happened was that my mother saw that The Lone Ranger would air on television, not for the first time, you understand, but for the first time at an hour when she could actually watch it and go to bed decently enough to be up for her morning shift at work.

Ergo, she then decided to splurge a little and turned on the HD setting on the big television in the living room, and what did yours truly do?

I siddled over and watched, duh. It was like watching in theatre!

That being said, I HAD seen the movie before, almost right after it came out, because I fell in love with the first trailer and the fact that this was the same team which had brought us Pirates of the Caribbean, Gore Verbinski at the helm.

Who doesn't want some Wild West humour?! Plus, it has Armie Hammer, too. I mean, do you even need more reasons?

Talkie Tuesday: The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

"How's THAT for entertainment?"

Hello everyone!

This movie review should have been posted before I posted the one for The Abominable Bride, but my Sherlock enthusiasm got the best of me even though the movie night I spent with my friends watching a trio of agents run around the screen (sometimes like chickens with their heads cut off) was also as enjoyable as the latter one.

Not to mention, I had been DYING to see the movie.

I mean, it's a no brainer here that The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was on my list because of the assembled cast, though most notably the principle male leads, namely Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer.

Okay, yes, I may have a bit of a crush problem.

I don't deny it!

But take a good, long look at those two and tell me you wouldn't have the same one. It's not like they're two sacks of potatoes, after all.

And the movie, of course, was really good.
