Talkie Tuesday: Walker Independence

"Welcome to Independence."

Hello everyone!

Back to the Wild, Wild West we go!

Ahem lol.

So a little bit back I had the randomest post mentioning this show while it was on its break, and since then it's not only returned BUT it concluded it's first season, to roaring success as far as I'm concerned.

Not only did they somehow manage to get the perfect cast for the job at hand, but the writing was also on point from the first to the last episode.

The fact is, it seems to be the only show centered around the old West on television right now, so despite the restructuring over at The CW - and all the rather sad news coming from that with the cancellations and whatnot - viewers are generally hoping this one gets renewed.

I mean, from what I've been able to gather, nobody wants MORE unscripted programming and golf.

But enough with that nonsense. It's cowboy hat time in Walker: Independence.

Tome Thursday: Kenobi

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to a galaxy far, far away!

I'll admit that I sometimes need to take minor breaks in between reading genres, because on occasion they can become too much. This is what happened with my interest in the Star Wars books franchise, because I had pretty much gobbled down at least four or five books in a row, and then felt like I needed a bit of a breather.

So that was what I did.

And eventually picked up the one book I was probably, almost THE most excited about.

Okay it's a toss between this one and the one about Padmé. They're pretty much my favourite characters from the entire saga.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is a character that links both the Prequel and the Original trilogies, the bridge we need to understand just what happened and how things connect. Sure the villains are also there - but it's Kenobi that a lot of people connect with the most.

So the book titled directly after him is obviously a must-read.

Talkie Tuesday: The Lone Ranger

"Never take off mask."

Hello everyone!

I had a different review lined up for this Tuesday, but then what happened was that my mother saw that The Lone Ranger would air on television, not for the first time, you understand, but for the first time at an hour when she could actually watch it and go to bed decently enough to be up for her morning shift at work.

Ergo, she then decided to splurge a little and turned on the HD setting on the big television in the living room, and what did yours truly do?

I siddled over and watched, duh. It was like watching in theatre!

That being said, I HAD seen the movie before, almost right after it came out, because I fell in love with the first trailer and the fact that this was the same team which had brought us Pirates of the Caribbean, Gore Verbinski at the helm.

Who doesn't want some Wild West humour?! Plus, it has Armie Hammer, too. I mean, do you even need more reasons?

Talkie Tuesday: Hidalgo

"Nobody hurts my horse."

Hello everyone!

So for today, I decided to dig up an older movie, because I got sidetracked from my regular list yesterday night. Thing is, it often happens that I tend to think about which movie I want to type up for my Tuesday blogs, and then Monday evening rolls around and I turn on the TV, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Yesterday night I was trying to cheer myself up after the abomination that was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, so I was channel surfing, searching for something, when FOX Movies blurred through.

There was a beautiful paint horse on screen, and a very blonde Viggo Mortensen.

Obviously, I stopped doing whatever else it was I had been doing at the time, dropped the remote, and tucked myself in to watch.

The movie I'm talking about is titled Hidalgo, released in 2004 in the wake of the Lord of the Rings success when all the actors and actresses who had taken part in that production were prety much the hottest thing in Hollywood.

Talkie Tuesday: Jane Got A Gun

"You don't need a gunslinger - you need a goddamn regiment."

Hello everyone!

My movie blog this week is of a movie that's been sitting in my notebook for a while now. For some reason I kind of postponed it - okay, well, I know the reason. Game of Thrones happened right around the time when I watched the movie so I then decided to post recaps of episodes per week instead of doing regular movie blog posts.

Now I'm back to my regular schedule after trying not to get a heart attack while watching the second season of Scandal (yeah, it's THAT good, really).

So I think the first time I got wind of this movie, Jane Got A Gun, it was in a movie theatre prior to seeing something else, and it didn't catch my eye because it had Natalie Portman in it (although that's reason enough, in my opinion), nor did it catch my eye because it was a western movie that looked as though it was plenty fun.

To be perfectly honest, the reason why I wanted to watch it was because, besides Portman, it had two other actors I knew: Ewan McGregor and Joel Edgerton

For those less movie-savvy: all three of the above-mentioned actors played together in the Star Wars Prequel episodes, so this movie was kind of a reunion for them.
