Tome Thursday: Queen of Shadows

Hello everyone!

What do you say when it's been nearly a decade since you sat down to review the preceding book to tonight's blog choice?

Equally, what do you say that could POSSIBLY even be said?

I mean, after all ... my last Throne of Glass book series post was back in 2017.

Then I went and fell off the wagon somehow.

I can remember most of my reasons why, but recently, a co-worker of mine really got into reading these fantasy novels, and she kept pestering me about A Court of Silver Flames, then moved along to the rest of the Throne of Glass books.

Because I stopped over halfway through and just never picked back up again. Who am I kidding either, I have yet to review any of the Crescent City series on here, too, despite the fact I HAVE read at least the first book.

But without further ado, let's just jump right in, shall we? Our characters have been eagerly waiting, and they're trying so hard to shine in Queen of Shadows.

Tome Thursday: Court of Tricksters

Hello everyone!

No, despite the title of this blog post, this is not in fact a review of a Sarah J. Maas book, even if it sounds remarkably like it could be.

It's definitely all about the title of the book. The author has so much fame attached to her through her A Court of Thorns and Roses series, that it's difficult to really pull our minds away from the topic and cover something else.

But we're doing exactly that tonight!

See, I randomly ran into an ARC in one of the emails BookSirens sent me that I thought might be a book I'd love.

And I did enjoy it, up to a point.

There were some minor issues with it, but overall I'd say it at the very least hooked me so that I'm intrigued as to what comes next.

I shouldn't prattle anymore and instead just give you the review, right? We're talking Court of Tricksters tonight.

Tome Thursday: Heir of Fire

Hello everyone!

In honour of finishing another Maas book, I decided to hit the reviews yet again and see just what, precisely, I'm missing in a series I've been reading.

This series being, of course, the Throne of Glass series.

I've said it before somewhere and it bears repeating: for some odd reason, I can only read about Celaena if I'm really in the mood, and this works so that if I'm in said mood AND I pick up the book, I'll breeze through it in one or two sittings.

But, should I be in the mood, and get distracted, then I won't be able to get back into it by the time I return.

This, usually, leads to the poor assassin-slash-queen having to sit there and stew for a while as I go about my merry way.

Sometimes it takes me longer than usual to get back on track.

Unfortunately, this was also what happened with Heir of Fire.

Tome Thursday: Crown of Midnight

Hello everyone!

So I am slowly trekking my way through these book series, even though sometimes it certainly does take me longer than one would think! In my defense, I tend tor read SO many books and start SO many series that I sometimes forget to go back to the ones I'd already read, or something else catches my eye, and then of course before I realize it, it's already been ages from the time I've read a certain book!

Then again, I also have to be into the story, so to speak. If I'm not, those books will be left waiting there on the shelves forever ...

I'm not exactly sure what my issue is with Sarah J. Maas' first published series though.

I absolutely love Celaena, she's the kind of character I could go for any day of the week, and yet when I actually sit down to read the books with her as the titular character, time seems to slow down into a crawl.

I start them alright - and when I actually read them I can breeze through them. But STARTING them to begin with is a complete chore for some reason!

Which is sad, because they're amazing. So, on to Crown of Midnight!

Tome Thursday: A Court of Thorns and Roses

Hello everyone!

I will apologize in advance if parts of this blog are going to be slightly less coherent or even a little bit muddled. For some reason or other, I've been fighting off a headache all day long and nothing has really helped, so I think a good night's sleep will be just about the only thing that does at this point. However, I am determined to get this post out, since if I start missing out on these my rhythm will be practically gone.

I have what feels like a billion other books to type about, but I just managed to finish one that's relatively new today, mostly because it's one of those you can't put down unless someone physically forces you to.

Although, I will admit, I have yet to finish the Throne of Glass series, which is pretty amazing in its own right, I had to start A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas because, well, I've always preferred Beauty and the Beast to Cinderella.

Though the author did absolutely make me like her Cinderella rendition more than the original one!

Tome Thursday: Throne of Glass

Hello everyone!

So today was spent mostly in ... let's see, doing chores, running around the house, running around town on a special quest for DVDs (but then, you guys should know by now I have a DVD problem ... oopsie?), trying to tame my impossible hair andddd ...

That's enough.

I feel exhausted either way though!

But as promised in the morning, or mid-day, whichever really came first, I can't remember, here is the book blog post! Now, some of you may remember I wrote about Sarah J. Maas and her novellas in a previous post, right here, so I'd encourage you to read it just so you're familiar with who and what I'll be talking about.

Though, if you're unlike me - which I presume most of you are - you already know all about Throne of Glass and are on the fourth book already, while I'm still struggling behind!

Not to worry tough, I have every plan of catching up.

Tome Thursday: The Assassin's Blade

Hello everyone!

This week I'm going to be talking about an author and a book that I discovered completely randomly, or depending on how you look at it, but I did really, because I watched this youtube channel right here in need of some new fantasy books inspiration. Christine kindly enough provided a full list of book series that could help me with my problem, and among them were books written by someone named Sarah J. Maas.

Okay, so I will admit, I seem to be late on the Maas train, or better still the Celaena train, but in my defence I will say that a lot of my over-the-seas online friends say I live in a medieval village, so sometimes things take a bit longer to arrive here (maybe these are actually in the process of being translated? I know I saw some from a different author at one point ...).

But I digress.

I found that there's a full series of books about a strong, female lead character, and I'm always fond of those, so. Not to mention ANOTHER series of ANOTHER strong, female lead character! Gotta love this type of thing.
