Tome Thursday: The Elfstones of Shannara

Hello everyone!

So, apparently, I really, truly need someon to make sure I keep my promises, and especially to make certain I do the blog posts that I say I'd do.

Also, for some inexplicable reason I was fairly, one hundred percent sure I'd done a blog post (or more) concerning The Shannara Chronicles, which is of course the MTV show that we are waiting on baited breath for with a promise for a second season.

But, apparently, that's a no go.

The only posts I could find were of the previous two books in the original Shannara series, so I suppose I WANTED to do the other post, but never got to it.

Sounds just like me, honestly.

Before I run over all the many reasons why I seem to be in desperate need of a Remembrall, let's first take a moment to go through the review of the second book in Terry Brooks' original trilogy, namely the one that the show was based upon.

Tome Thursday: The Sword of Shannara

Hello everyone!

Back to books for this Thursday and I'm going against the promise I made myself a while ago again. Yeah, I'm a real professional with that, apparently! :P

The thing is, trying to clear out my impossible backlog of reviews to make room for new ones means I have to eventually touch these books as well even though I STILL haven't read the last one in the trilogy.

I'm a bad person.

No, really, I am.

But I feel like, after grinding my teeth through three of Brook's novels, I'm going to grow old or at least grow grey hair before I managed to plod through number three, and I really am NOT looking forward to it.

Time for some positive affirmations and then I can jump right in!

But first, let me talk about The Sword of Shannara.

Tome Thursday: The First King of Shannara

Hello everyone!

Book talk time, as it happens every Thursday, and somehow, I've managed to accumulate so many books I'm not even sure how or when I managed that.

Isn't it supposed to be easier to watch TV shows or movies and raking them together than getting so many books?

Apparently, for me it isn't. I'm actually struggling with the movies thing, although to be fair I've devised a system now because I do have a bunch of movies still left over to watch, and those new ones that keep on popping up ... yeah, I have my work cut out for me haha!

But each Thursday I talk about books, and although I promised myself I wouldn't type this one up before I finished the entire trilogy, I decided that, as this is a prequel and not in the trilogy itself, it can have a stand-alone blog post and nothing will be hurt from it.

As I've predicted in my earlier Tweet, I'm talking about The First King of Shannara.

Tome Thursday: Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love.

It did not end well.

Hello everyone!

Today was spent on a lot of computer de-tox as I spend a whole lot of time behind the small screen and typing and stuff, and my arms sometimes don't agree with me about it at all. Sigh, sad panda over here.

But it turns out I can actually bake apple pie! Which, for a person who hasn't done any cooking at all in her life up until moving to the capital and starting university, is a big deal. I am at war with our oven here at home though because it almost charred it with being way too strong for the settings that were in the recipe, BUT. You win some, you lose some.

Anyway.

Back to blogging, I tweeted yesterday that I had SO MANY book reviews lined up, I actually had to double check I still have enough movies left! I've been reading books left, right and centre, although this particular one happened at the seaside while I was still on vacation, and I can cheerfully say that I read the major part of it sitting at the cafe right next to the sea, listening to the sea gulls, drinking latte and enjoying the salty breeze.
