Tome Thursday: A Royal Christmas Princess

Hello everyone!

This will be my last Christmas-related review as we move towards the new year, since afterwards in January I plan to get some other things out from under my belt.

First, however, I should probably see whether or not I can actually get my e-reader working again, but I'm pretty much afraid it's bitten it, kicked the bucket, and everything else that goes along those lines. Which means I may need a new one after almost four years of pretty much constant use, but it's a bummer because it went just before Christmas!

In any event, however, tonight's book has definitely been read before AND technically I could probably read everything on my computer as well, so I sort of refreshed my memory of it.

Of course it's another Christmas romance. Also, it has a kingdom, a would-be prince, and an American along the lines of Mia from Princess Diaries.

Talkie Tuesday: When Calls the Heart Christmas Wishing Tree

"Maybe miracles do happen."

Hello everyone!

Hope you've all had a very merry Christmas, and that there's an even better New Year on the way!

Last year around this time, I watched and then blogged about the When Calls the Heart Christmas special. So when news broke that this year would ALSO mark another two-hour episode (or one hour and a half sans commercials) for the Hallmark Channel's hit series, well, I couldn't just ignore it now, could I?

The answer to that would be no, especially since I absolutely LOVE the Canadian West saga by Janette Oke which this show is based off on. Of course there are quite a few changes (and even the Return to Canadian West books aren't exactly the same) but that doesn't mean I haven't fallen in love with the show, because I have. There's something about stories from the frontier, from a different time, when life seemed to be simpler in a lot of ways, that always gets me going.

So here we go, another year almost done, another Christmas episode to review, which means that without further ado we are moving directly into When Calls the Heart: The Christmas Wishing Tree!

Tome Thursday: Wishing on a Star

Hello everyone!

It'll be after Christmas when I write for this blog again, so I figured I'd pick an extra special Christmas story to write about in this one, because why else would I even put in the effort? Plus, considering I find it as amazing as the previous books that came before this short-short story, well, I couldn't resist.

If you haven't yet realized, I'm talking about another wonderful read from under the pen (or keyboard) of Serenity Woods.

I have to say that, as far as contemporary authors go, I may have found my absolute favourite in terms of realistic, down-to-Earth and drama-free characters, and pretty amazing storylines as far as everything goes!

The one I'm currently talking about, or will be as soon as I stop babbling in this intro (and keeping a gimlet eye on my Kobo e-reader at the same time) is Wishing on a Star, which is a special short story in the Three Wise Men universe, only available to Ms Woods' subscribers, but it's just too cute not to write about!

Talkie Tuesday: Crown for Christmas

"The fact is, you had me at 'sewing kit'."

Hello everyone!

Not too long to go until Christmas anymore!

Which is why I'm reviewing another really good Christmas movie tonight. Or, well, I suppose some people will say it's not actually good, or that it's too cheesy or whatever, but believe me, I'm quite picky when it comes to my Christmas movies. After all, you can't always get it right (as I keep on proving to myself when I try something and fail miserably fast-forwarding through it all).

Of course, yet again this one came on recommendation from a good friend of mine, and again she was right there with me via Skype while I watched it, because I'm lucky like that.

And truth be told I needed a good hit because of some of the absolutely terrible misses I had over the last couple of days. Like, seriously, three out of three Christmas movies were just plain BAD, and that's saying something considering they're supposedly the most watched!

But anyway, enough of my blabbering. Let's get on with the show, which is Crown for Christmas.

Tome Thursday: Christmas at the Castle

Hello everyone!

Back again with another Christmas-themed book, and this time I'm picking one that made me feel a whole lot happier than a ton of different same theme-inspired movies have so far.

Christmas at the Castle was free on Kobo for a limited time and I managed to snag it, luckily, so that I could read through it and decide for myself whether it's something I'd want to rehash again in the near future.

Turns out, it is!

See, romance books fall in different categories for me - the ones I absolutely love despite the cheesiness, ones I can't stand after I read them, and the third one is books I can't even bring myself to finish. Gotta love it when I have options, right?

Anyway, this was a fun, easy kind of read that didn't break my brain while I was at it, and so here we go with Melissa McClone's third book in her Ever After series, Christmas at the Castle!

Talkie Tuesday: A Christmas Prince

"Failures plant the seed for greater successes down the road."

Hello everyone!

Dang, I haven't been blown away yet! And I'm not talking figuratively here. We've been having some INSANE winds in my country since yesterday, and to tell the truth when I drove do my PT and back this morning the town looked like the Tasmanian Devil rocked through it, dumped his dirty laundry, and hustled out (not to mention our Christmas tree toppled over in the town square).

The winds are set to abate today, however (they're saying it's some sort of freak African/Mediterranean thing that came out of the south following the coast), but then we're slated to get more snow.

Which basically means that we've had temperatures in the toasty area for the past two days, in the freezing corner before that, and we're going back to deep freeze.

So, you know, if you can't beat the weather, you snuggle down and watch Christmas movies. Especially if you're encouraged to do so by one of your best friends, who then proceeds to be amused by your running commentary throughout the film.

This Tuesday's review pick: A Christmas Prince.

Tome Thursday: A Very English Christmas

Hello everyone!

As indicated previously in the week with my Tuesday blog post, this month it's ALL about the holiday season - with movies and books alike!

Which means I needed to find something neat for my starter post, and what better way to begin than to turn to some of my favourite authors?

I had the pick between Serenity Woods, Keira Andrews and Noelle Adams, but I went with Ms Andrews because I've very recently finished another one of her works, not that I'll be talking about that book just yet. It'll have to wait until January 2018, but I can promise you, it made me cry, so you KNOW it's good.

As for this blog post, however, I did in fact pick an Andrews book for obvious reasons, and luckily for me there are a few of hers to choose from for the season.

I chose A Very English Christmas, featuring Isaac and David from her gay Amish storyline, I was delighted to revisit them even if I have yet to finish the actual series. Oops ...

Talkie Tuesday: Magical Christmas Ornaments

"There's always magic at Christmas."

Hello everyone!

December is finally, officially, here, and that means that most of the regular TV shows are airing their midseason finales and taking a break over the upcoming holidays.

This also means that the air turns freezingly cold and I need to make sure I start my car every once in a while if I'm not planning big drives anywhere, but equally it means some really cool bed linen is coming into our stores.

Okay I'm totally rambling.

What it MEANS is Christmas is just around the corner and I can now officially break out all those Christmas stories I've been hoarding up on. And the movies! I've decided my December blogs will be ALL about Christmas so if there are any Grinches or Scrooges out there you might as well come back in January.

So to start us off in style, I dug up Hallmark channel's movie list and watched Magical Christmas Ornaments.

Synopsis Saturday: Crisis on Earth-X

"Oh you've GOT to be kidding me."

Hello everyone!

As promised back on Tuesday, here's my contribution to all the different reviews rolling around online about this week's MASSIVE, four-episode cross-over event that the CW gave to the fans with a little help from DC.

Then again, the mothership, aka Arrow, has probably been aiming for this kind of thing since its premiere six years ago.

Boy, was it action-packed!

Also at times fluffy, adorable, hilarious, OMG-inspiring, and above all uncontrollably fun.

I'm sure this has been said many times before and at different spots, but when it comes to working together and bringing a show-stopper to their audience, the cast and crew of each of the four shows (Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl) really bring their A-game to make sure no nook and cranny is left unexplored.

Of course only Americans would come up with the idea of Nazis for enemies #1, but oh well.

Crisis on Earth-X, here we go!
