Talkie Tuesday: The Mummy

"No harm ever came from reading a book."

Hello everyone!

I'm back!

And I have a wonderful movie for you tonight.

This is for all of us who've seen this one so many times it's basically like the air we breathe, who reference quotes from it in our daily lives or just to have great fun, and of course, who look forward to watching it AGAIN just as soon as we possibly can.

There are some movies you can watch over and over again without so much as blinking an eye.

Some that stay with you no matter where you go or what you do.

Tonight's choice is among them, possibly in the top category, because honestly, what could be better than the hot sands of Egypt, a rugged explorer, and mummies?!?

Nothing, that's what (or, not a lot)!

So arm yourselves and bring your cats - we're stepping right into The Mummy.

Talkie Tuesday: Jungle Cruise

"One person is world enough."

Hello everyone!

If you're lucky enough to live in the US, you've probably been to Disney at some point in time, and in that point in time you've also, most probably, taken their Jungle cruise ride in the theme parks.

I've had no such luck in my life BUT when I heard there was going to be a movie based off it, well, I was hooked.

Then I kind of forgot about it until I accidentally spotted something on Instagram and recalled that, yes, I kind of STILL want to watch it!

And so this past Sunday I went and sat down, and ended up laughing for about an hour and a half. My stomach muscles still hurt two days later, not to mention my face since I've also been watching all sorts of interviews with the cast online.

There's just so much sheer joy that went into making this movie, I can't even begin to describe it.

So hold on to your pants, it's time we took a little joyride down the Amazon river, and in case you haven't figured it out yet ... it's gonna be a bumpy ride! Jungle Cruise, here we go.

Outlander: Better to Marry than Burn

"Speak of the Devil and he appears."

Hello everyone!

Droughtlander might be coming closer, but it isn't THAT close yet, so we still have something to look forward to every Sunday, and escaping into 18th century North Carolina sounds like a pretty good deal, all things considered.

After all, even if we'd be dealing with locusts, wouldn't that mean we're at least outside AND communicating with other people?

With quarantine now pretty much all around us AND upon us, it's best if we leave real life to its own problems for a while, and escape three hundred years or so into the past.

After all, it's a whole lot more fun watching Jamie Fraser deal with all the problems heading his way (and the hilarities accompanying them), not to mention the fact that he just ALWAYS seems to end up in some kind of trouble.

Some people have all the luck - or no luck at all, depending on how you look at it.

Better to Marry than Burn is the sixth episode of Outlander this season, and it's absolutely worth taking a look at.

Talkie Tuesday: Blood & Treasure (and Cleopatra)

"I thought they droned the guy! - Yeah well, apparently it didn't take."

Hello everyone!

As you may have noticed, we seem to be short on two blog posts on this page since last Tuesday, and I promise you it has nothing to do with the Game of Thrones season finale.

I mean, it might. I'm not sure!

The thing is, my computer of ten years decided on Wednesday morning to say farewell, and I needed to sort out my situation before I could get back to posting, which means that I unfortunately had to skip on a few blog posts.

Never fear, however. I'm back!

And since I've been so used to watching HBO over the last month and a half, I'm now trying to figure out what to keep on watching haha.

Thankfully, CBS is hitting it out of the park with its lineup this year, so I decided I'm going to talk about the premiere of their summer show, Blood & Treasure.

Talkie Tuesday: Lara Croft Tomb Raider

"Time to save the universe again then, is it?"

Hello everyone!

So remember last week as I was writing out my review of Tomb Raider, the 2018 reboot of the movies which made the Lara Croft role iconic?

Well, as that movie was ending, I got the urge to watch the original two.

Because nothing, and I mean nothing, beats Angelina Jolie when she's kicking ass or walking into a room like she owns the place.

Of course I was incredibly lucky to snag both the first and second movie together, but I have to finish the second one tonight since ... well, haven't managed it yet. I know, I know, it's taking me forever, what can I say?

But without further ado and me babbling on about things that really don't matter, let's get into the review of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

Talkie Tuesday: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Hello everyone!

Today I'm writing about an oldie (but a goldie), since the movie is now seven years old already (time flies!), but it was screened on TV this weekend and we made a sort of family night out of it, so I thought to myself, why not? So we watched The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, although my original thought (come into reality the first time I watched it, seven years ago) remains the same, which is that it really fell woefully short of the first two movies (The Mummy, and The Mummy Returns). Now, THOSE two were definitely worth their salt, and I always laugh when I watch them - even if I watch them now, a millionth time later. That's saying something about comedic relief, right? But then, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz had it all down pat as far as I'm concerned, and while the third movie brought in some old anecdotes and connected to the previous ones, it still just ... wasn't quite there.
