Talkie Tuesday: Picture a Perfect Christmas

"Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse ...
"

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to the blog, and welcome to this year's Christmas extravaganza!

I know, I know, Christmas is still weeks away, but on this blog it arrives early, aka it's hitting the ground running tonight with the first seasonal blog post that I'm starting right now.

As you probably all know I have this thing for Hallmark where I'll watch quite a few of their movies if I can get my hands on them - and since figuring out that there are good Samaritans out there who put up an actual list on Wikipedia, well, that just makes my life SO much easier!

That being said, I know not everyone enjoys these, and I do occasionally hit a snag myself when I'm expecting too much from one movie or the other.

Not this time, though.

No, for the start of my Christmas blogging this year, I picked a good one. Can you picture it snowing? I bet some of you in the US can. While you're at it, Picture a Perfect Christmas, too.

The Infernal Devices (Booktober)

"Until such time as I die, I will be Nephilim."

Once again, I'm here with a full book series, because ... I can't pick one of these three. I loved the entire trilogy, and ironically enough, probably because I read it first, I finished it already, but have yet to finish Mortal Instruments. Go figure. BUT anyway! If you're up for some hunting, mundanes, and a certain Herondale, you've come to the right place. Cassandra Clare has certain topics to her name that make her rather notorious, but this trilogy is GOOD. And since it mostly happens in foggy Victorian era London, why not stroll down those streets yourselves?

In a time when Shadowhunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever; in the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. Danger and betrayal, love and loss, secrets and enchantment are woven together in the breathtaking Infernal Devices Trilogy, prequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series.

Talkie Tuesday: Tomb Raider

"Us Crofts, we have responsibilities; jobs to do."

Hello everyone!

So hot on the heels of learning Shadowhunters have been cancelled after three seasons (NOOO!) I'm here tonight with another movie review and it's actually, FINALLY a more recent one.

Although yes, I do still have movies back-logged that I have to either put on here or simply watch, this was one that suited me the evening when I watched it, and then of course what happened was that it led to a bit of a movie night with me watching ... everything else afterwards haha.

It's one of those action flicks that you either love or love to hate, there never seems to be a middle ground anywhere which is kind of sad, all things considered.

But then, audiences are NEVER satisfied these days.

So what movie am I talking about, you ask?

Why, the 2018 action retelling Tomb Raider, of course.

Tome Thursday: The Infernal Devices

Hello everyone!

Tonight's blog post is another compilation, since I feel like it would be cheating if I just posted each book separately, and honestly it makes much more sense to me to bring them all together into one blog post and not three.

Although I WILL admit that I'm confused since I was fairly sure I'd reviewed the first one of the trilogy at some point ...

Apparently not.

Anyway, with Shadowhunters going in for the kill with their last two episodes of the season, I felt like I should honour them somehow, and then remembered that I'd read and finished The Infernal Devices series, also by Cassandra Clare, not too long ago.

See I actually started it earlier, but for some reason never got around to books two and three, but this time around what I did was just sit there until I finished it all.

You can't go wrong that way, really. So here we go, a blog post to review The Infernal Devices!

Saturday Talkie Tuesday: Shadowhunters 2A

"This is the hunt."

Hello everyone!

So this week, admittedly, has not been the best in terms of what I'm doing on my blog and which posts I'm typing up for anyone who's reading this. I do apologise. I promise, this Tuesday is going to be back to normal with the review when it's supposed to be, although if it's true and there's a musical cross-over happening between Supergirl and The Flash, I may just have to review that one instead of a movie!

But I digress.

What happened this week was that Shadowhunters had its winter finale and OH MY GOSH everyone, but can I just say how amazing this show is?!

I never would have imagined it after a slightly rocky start in season one, but they're firing on all cilinders now and the only bad thing about it that I can think of is, well, that it's been broken up into two halves.

Season 2A has just finished, but we aren't getting to see 2B before JUNE.

That's right, JUNE. So, let's review what we know of Shadowhunters so far, okay?

Tome Thursday: The Bane Chronicles

Hello everyone!

A good friend of mine, who is just as much a devout Shadowhunter fan, convinced me I need to go back and sit to the second trilogy in the Mortal Instruments series, which is how I remembered, because I'm like that, that I had never, in all actuality, finished reading the collection of short stories concerning Magnus Bane.

THAT kicked me into super high gear, because Magnus might just be one of my all-time favourite characters, and coupled with Alec Lightwood it's easy to figure out just why I like him so much.

But he's quite likeable of his own accord, too!

Anyway, I first got into Cassandra Clare's books on a whim after starting Shadowhunters, and deciding I wanted to know more about this world of hers.

Then I realized I'd already read some of her things, those hilarious short diary entries about Lord of the Rings characters, and I fell with gusto on her original writings. I have to say I've enjoyed the lot of them so far even though it shows they were written for YA.

Some of the teenage stuff that happens in the books is ... well.

But with Magnus, there's a whole OTHER set of problems!

Saturday Snippet: Highlights

Hello everyone!

I could probably talk about a lot of things in this Saturday blog, but I felt like going back to TV shows for this one time and some of my favourite moments this week. Don't get me wrong, each episode usually gives me at least one or two - but three stood out.

Numero uno, and probably the one I fangirled over the most: MALEC!

You guys. How perfect are they?!

Numero due: gotta love Mack and the shotgun axe.

Like, seriously.

And numero tres: the one that made me cry.

Thank you Shadowhunters, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and The 100.

Shadowhunters

This week is just all sorts of crazy for me, so unfortunately I'll have to skip Thursday's blog post too.

Never fear! Next week, I'm back to business after Easter holidays.

But I do have this little announcement that I've started reading The Mortal Instruments now. Just finished the first book, and well, I can't wait for next week's Shadowhunter's ep.

Malec <3
