Tome Thursday: Better Not Pout

Hello everyone!

Okay. OKAY.

I know, the holidays are over, Christmas books need to take a step back and everything else should step forward into place.

I couldn't help myself with this one, however.

It sort of caught me unawares and smacked me upside the head once I actually got to it.

I was feeling a little blue and unwilling to dig into Drums of Autumn again yesterday and then just sort of popped this one open, ending up gobbling it like it was some sort of tasty Christmas leftover or whatever.

And why did I like it so much?

Well, there were a lot of points in its favour and I'll try and catch as many as I can in this review.

But first, let's get right into Better Not Pout, shall we?

Talkie Tuesday: Winter Castle

Hello everyone!

In honour of my Austrian neighbours battling their snow drifts (seriously, can someone call Elsa and tell her it's okay already? THEY GET IT), I'm posting another winter-themed movie, and I actually really liked most of this one. 

Which, I will say, is a hit-and-miss with Hallmark sometimes.

Most of the time it's perfectly fine, you can easily watch movies and laugh through them, rolling your eyes at some of the cheesiness that seeps through. But then every once in a while you also stumble over a rock you'd rather just sink into the deep blue sea, and other times a golden nugget you want to share with people.

I'd say tonight's choice is somewhere in the solid middle, more towards the nugget.

Or maybe Scrat's acorn, who knows?

I should start judging these based on acorns!

Ahem. Winter Castle, everyone.

Tome Thursday: Cobweb Bride

Hello everyone!

Back with the first book review of the new year, and BOY do I have a kicker for you!

I mean, to be fair, I saved it because it sort of sounded like something I might potentially enjoy, and then some, but at the time when I took it from the Kobo free book offer, I stashed it away and didn't feel like reading it quite yet.

Then after over-indulging in Christmas books and all that other gooey stuff, I needed something else to clear my head.

Oh, and I have to load Drums of Autumn again. Why did I delete it off my ereader?

I don't know, Kobo; I truly don't know.

But I digress.

Tonight's blog post is about a book that's just ... it was SO GOOD. I couldn't put it down, even though I'd spent a lot of time translating, my eyes were smarting and the letters were dancing.

But Cobweb Bride refused to let me out of her web until I got to the final dot.

Talkie Tuesday: WCTH The Greatest Christmas Blessing

Hello everyone!

New year, new blog posts, and I'm back with the very first after taking a little bit of a break just to clear my head and reassess everything.  

I'll admit, I was debating giving up blogging, at least for a while, but somehow or other this has gotten under my skin and I can't just let it go without some sort of a really good reason, of which I have none at the moment.

Besides, it kind of feels weird to think I wouldn't be typing this up twice a week, I'll admit.

I've gotten used to it!

But anyway, I digress.

On New Year's Eve, because I'd been kind of busy over Christmas, I finally sat down and watched the movie I knew would bring me to tears. How could it not, when viewers around the globe are still hissing at Hallmark for what happened with Jack Thornton?

When Calls the Heart: The Greatest Christmas Blessing was only a small consolation.

Tuesday: Happy New Year
