Talkie Tuesday: A Homecoming for the Holidays

"If an opportunity presents itself and it's the one you want, you go towards, not away."

Hello everyone!

Merry Christmas!

I'm not taking a break this year because I feel like I'm in a pretty good rhythm at the moment, plus it really doesn't take all THAT long to write up a blog post like this, at least I don't think so. I tend to have them typed a little in advance and I just edit the whole thing later on, anyway.

With the Christmas season basically in FULL swing now, there's really nothing stopping us from putting up more Christmas-based reviews!

I'll admit though, that I'm starting to feel the burn out; I want to watch and read different things and themes after indulging in Christmas for a solid month.

I like to keep going throughout December, however, because it's pretty fun, not to mention there really isn't any other time you can safely indulge in movies like this. That weird June/July thing Hallmark does definitely doesn't count.

So enough dawdling, alright? Let's take a look at A Homecoming for the Holidays.

Tome Thursday: A Court of Frost and Starlight

Hello everyone!

So.

I have a confession to make.

This book.

For some reason, it took me FOREVER to sit my ass down and actually read it.

I was super excited when it was announced that there would be more books in the series, and when the novella was released, I was literally climbing up walls with a GIMME GIMME GIMME chorus singing all around.

And then.

Then I stored it, and didn't start reading until very recently. No clue what happened.

But A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas probably deserved better treatment!

Tome Thursday: Arctic Fire

Hello everyone!

Okay, full-on confession time: since DIVA's streaming of Christmas movies, I've been literally itching to have at it with my collection of Christmas books.

Yes, I've been making a collection.

It's really bad this year, to be honest. I started making this when it only just hit autumn and the first freebies were going out, but then figured, why not?? And added some more of these. I'm still waiting to find a good copy of a new Woods book in her holiday romances, but apart from that I've also stumbled across a few new writers I want to check out some more.

I mean, I do have at least three book bundles with a minimum of FIFTEEN stories in each. Not full-length novels, of course, but you get what I'm saying.

At the very least, however, tonight's review won't be Christmas-y yet. Because Keira Andrews can absolutely write a romance taking place in the middle of nowhere frozen wasteland that makes you THINK Christmas - but doesn't actually happen then. Arctic Fire is just what the doctor ordered when the hills start painting themselves white.

Tome Thursday: See Me

Hello everyone!

Back with a book blog this week, as per usual on Thursdays, and of course, like it happens every once in a while for me, I deviate towards Nicholas Sparks.

Yes, yes, I know.

Why would I do something like that to myself, you ask?

Well, alright, here's the thing: I don't know.

I just generally feel as if my reading experience needs to be completed by reading Sparks novels, although I will admit that I'm not the biggest fan of his newest works, honestly.

I kind of much prefer the books he wrote while he was still married, but considering he had to go through a divorce, I figure I'll cut the guy some slack - but that being said, however, I can still admit to not liking some of his books.

See Me, unfortunately, fell under that category.

Tome Thursday: The Duke of Shadows

Hello everyone!

So I've realized it's been a while since the last book that I read out of the so-called 'beach reads', or as I like to call them 'doctor novels' after a saying in my language. Basically, the point of these books is not to make much of a point in the long run, the premise is the love story and it doesn't force you to think deep thoughts while the hero and heroine are acting like Bollywood lovers ("I love you! I want to marry you!" "No, I can't!" "Come back, now I want you!" "I can't now!").

I wish I could remember precisely how or why I got to this book, because I know I realized later that there's a physical copy of it in the house, but how I got to it is a mystery. I might have seen it advertised or it popped up on Goodreads ... I'm pretty sure it wasn't recommended.

In any event, what happened was that I needed a bit of a break from my usual reading material, and this means that whenever I do this, I pick up a cheesy romance novel.

This time I went for a sort of my thing, as it was a historical romance, Meredith Duran's Duke of Shadows.
