Tome Thursday: Cards on the Table

 

Hello everyone!

 

It's been a while since I touched on anything Agatha Christie-related on this blog, so I figured, why not go back to what are essentially my roots, for a spell?

 

I've been doing all kinds of fantasy and sci-fi jumping about, but haven't done a good ole murder mystery in what feels like forever.

 

So here we go!

 

I think I actually have Death on the Nile on here somewhere, book version, though I may do a more updated review in the style I use nowadays when writing them. It seems fair given that the movie is releasing soon enough - not that I'm expecting much, but it should at least be SOMEWHAT entertaining, maybe.

 

We'll have to wait and see.

 

In the meantime, we delve into another rather fabulous case of Hercule Poirot - and one in which ALL FOUR SUSPECTS could have done it!

 

But the question is, which one DID? Cards on the Table answers that, and more.

Who doesn't know Jason Bourne? Other than Jason Bourne, that is. The movies with Matt Damon portraying the titular character (that Hollywood won't let die) cemented him in our minds, but let me tell you, the books - at least the original trilogy written by Ludlum himself - are SPECTACULAR. And I mean spectacular. They've got so much more plot in comparison to the movies, so much more detail and intricacy, and Bourne becomes an even better character stepping off the page than he is on the silver screen. So have a look at how Treadstone shaped this special agent - then spat him back out, and the consequences of that decision just so happened to shake the world at its foundations.

Tome Thursday: To The Edge

Hello everyone!

This week, I'm doing a slightly different book from a lot of others you can find on my reading list, but then again you COULD potentially find more of this genre around here if you looked very closely.

After all, bodyguards with haunted pasts that come out of the military service? Can we all say yes, please?

I mean, come on. That's probably the most cliché thing that's ever been invented and written about, but the thing is, people, okay, WOMEN, tend to gobble this up like it's something completely and utterly delicious.

Which is often true, of course.

So when one of my best friends suggested this particular author, Cindy Gerard, because of the fact that her books have all these bodyguard storylines, I have to admit that I was hooked on the description and ran to find the copy of To the Edge, which is the first of this series.

After all, as I keep telling my mother whose tendency it is to buy books in the middle of a series, you have to start at the beginning.
