Talkie Tuesday: Mulan 1998

"The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all."

Hello everyone!

After a fun-filled October where we explored the different books to choose from for fall reads (and didn't even make a dent, let me tell you), it's back to the good old usual blog posts, which consist, but are not limited to, movies and books.

And of course, The Mandalorian has just started streaming again!

If you haven't yet seen the silver bucket head and his adorable green side-kick, I suggest you do, they're basically the best thing to come out of the Star Wars universe by Disney in a long, long time.

But I digress.

BEFORE I went on my Booktober binge here, I wrote up a review about the newly released Mulan. This would be the 2020 one, mind, and, yes, it's about as good as reviews make it, which is to say, not so good.

Since I needed to cleanse my palate after watching that confusion, I went right back to the very first Disney movie I ever saw in cinemas, and I was about nine or ten years old at the time, let me tell you. Nine going on ten, and you see the big expanse of white with the Huns suddenly rushing down, is SOMETHING.

The 1998 version of Mulan is something else.

Talkie Tuesday: Matching Hearts

"Don't put off being happy."

Hello everyone!

As you know, I have this thing about Hallmark.

As in, I like to watch their movies.

I have, however, found I need to dial back a little and only pick the ones that feature cast I know from previous projects, which may sound limiting given that I'm sure others, of whom I don't know any of the cast, are just as wonderful.

But at some point you just have to draw a line, I guess!

Tonight I'm going to be talking about a new little pet project Hallmark launched just for Valentine's, a series of movies under the title Love Ever After, which only premiered this year as something new they're trying. This includes a full month of Valentine-themed movies for viewers to enjoy.

I won't be doing a full review of ALL four of the movies from the series because, like I said, I kind of need a breather every now and again, but I did tune in to this weekend's choice.

So open up that box of chocolates, because Matching Hearts is up next.

Tome Thursday: The Beloved One

Hello everyone!

I'll admit that, at the moment, I'm actually back into the ice hockey side of reading lists, because it's been a while since I picked up any of Catherine Gayle's books. But that aside, I kind of feel like continuing with my recaps of Danelle Harmon's books, at least up until the point I've actually read them.

Yeah, yeah, I know, I made such a fuss about getting to Lucien's book and now I'm putting it aside. Why, again?

Well, I kind of want to savour the anticipation, you know?

That said, however, there are still two books for me to both read and then review, so I suppose it's not THAT bad, all in all. Besides, between driving my mother around this week and trying to ensure my grandmother doesn't burn all her pots while my dad's away, I kind of have my hands full to begin with.

But anyway, without further ado and me monologuing into nothing, let's get to it with The Beloved One.
