Tome Thursday: Ishtar's Blade

Hello everyone!

So once again, I return with another pretty good suggestion from BookBub - remember the service I talk about on here from time to time?

BookBub is a free online community/portal/library where you sign up (it really is TOTALLY free) and then they send you book offers depending on your preferences, but the biggest draw is they find the least pricy ones, and a lot of free options as well.

Next to BookSirens, this is probably the one thing I use most frequently to find my next great read, and it's where tonight's book comes from, too.

See every once in a while I'll diverge from my usual paths of contemporary and historic to find something that's a little bit more fantastic, maybe.

And potentially a whole lot of fun!

It was how I ended up with this particular book, too.

Ishtar's Blade looked like it could be fun, and I'll admit part of the allure was also the beautiful cover, which I did also giggle a little over. But I digress.

Outlander: Hour of the Wolf

"Flesh of my flesh, bone of my bone."

Hello everyone!

We're halfway through season six of Outlander after this week's episode, can you believe it?

It's really going by so fast with only eight installments slated for the season, though of course all of us can't wait for the extra long seventh that's coming our way (all of us are also sort of feeling that it MIGHT be the last, and that's why they're making it extra long).

In the meantime though, we're still slowly marching our way towards the inevitable.

History is as much a part of the Outlander books as the love story between Jamie and Claire, perhaps even more sometimes, and the closer we are to the end of the season, the closer we are to the inevitable Revolution.

But it hasn't arrived JUST yet, and so we can probably rest for a little while longer.

Maybe.

Without further ado, let's take a look at Hour of the Wolf.

Saturday Snippet: Bridgerton Season Two THOUGHTS

I don't remember Kate being such an absolute bitch in the book.
Please have this turn around soon, I LOVED Anthony's story!

Tome Thursday: Let It Be Me

Hello everyone!

I come bearing the gift of another book review, and I chose something a little different for this week's actually.

I don't usually just pick something up to read, it's either off a list I've been cultivating for years or it's a recommendation/suggestion, but truth be told I was incredibly bored this past weekend and ended up picking something at random.

I know. Shocking!

Turns out though that it's pretty good, all things considered.

I will admit that I have more misses than hits when randomly choosing the things I'm reading, but that aside there's something about the mystery of picking something you haven't ever touched before, so that's something I suppose.

And I don't think I've ever read anything from this author before, either, which is an added bonus.

So without further ado, it's romance time: Let It Be Me is next.

Outlander: Temperance

"Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

Hello everyone!

Much to my personal delight, despite the fact I thought I'd end up being unable to do this blog post on time, yesterday turned out to be slightly better than expected, and thus here I am after watching the latest episode.

And, I will admit, as someone who's read the books, I can definitely see where this is going.

Or, I can see some of the kernels of where this is going.

It doesn't make me any happier but, alas, nothing to be done about it there!

In any event, the cast and crew are making this another exceptional season to remember, which does in fact count for something, and more.

It's the cast that makes it, and the crew that makes it happen, after all. That's what matters in the end!

So without further ado, let's stop my blabbering about and let's have a look at Outlander's latest episode, Temperance.

Tome Thursday: In Step

Hello everyone!

I have a really, REALLY good book for you this week, and I'm not just saying it.

A while ago I ran into a blurb telling me about a book that was GOING to be released sometime in early 2022, and I added it to my 'to be read' list on Goodreads.

Turns out, I'd been right to do so.

I've had a soft spot for same-sex romance books since I discovered that they even exist, because a lot of the time, the tropes that have become so incredibly boring and over-written in heterosexual romances take on a new life when it's two men or two women.

I don't know what it is!

This one tonight isn't exactly outdated, it's just a really clever one, but it's DEFINITELY worth the time and the read. I think I managed in about three sittings, and each sitting I found something to bawl my eyes out over.

No joke.

So without further ado: In Step. Because everybody needs a little dance in their life.

Outlander: Allegiance

"Come what may.

Hello everyone!

I'm actually on time this week, which is a massive shock to just about anyone really. Or should be.

But I finally seem to have found a rhythm so let's hope that everything will now run like clockwork and there'll be no switching up for Saturday posts anymore.

... famous last words.

Anyway, we return for the second week in a row to the world of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander, if you haven't figured it out yet from the title or the poster image here on the side.

And boy, is it an episode!

There's a lot of things going on at once on Fraser's Ridge, and they'll probably keep on adding on to it in the next six weeks while this short season lasts.

But without further ado, let's jump right into Allegiance, shall we?

Outlander: Echoes

"If you are to stay, then my word at Fraser's Ridge is law.

Hello everyone!

Firstly, let me apologise for the fact that this post didn't go up on Tuesday as I'd originally planned. Unfortunately, life got in the way - as it often does - and I was SO exhausted over the weekend and on Monday that it just ... wasn't going to work out.

So in the end, I did what I promised to do at the start of 2022, took it easy, and decided to bump it to a Saturday post.

And here we are!

Of course, I'll hopefully be covering the rest of the season since it's only eight episodes (the horror!), but is anyone else getting the feeling we may be drawing towards the end here? I know a season seven has already been confirmed, and it looks as if they'll be covering ALL the books, but I don't know.

It feels like an ending, sort of.

Anyway, enough of my maudlin, time to head back to Fraser's Ridge and see our beloved people of Outlander!

Tome Thursday: Robin Hood

Hello everyone!

I'm finally back after a bit of a break which unfortunately needed to happen because of some RL stuff I had going on BUT! I return!

And I have a book review for you all, first and foremost.

Tuesday's blog didn't get written up so it will be bumped to a Synopsis Saturday one, which you'll all hopefully read just as well, as I'm planning on recapping the premiere of Outlander's sixth season. Are we ready for what's undoubtedly going to be a bumpy ride? Hopefully!

In the meantime, this blog post is a sort of connected one? Maybe? But our own Fraser was an outlaw for a little bit of time there so I suppose the inspiration was certainly in the works.

However MY outlaw is probably the one that's basically the most known across literature and film if you think about it. When someone says rob from the rich and give to the poor, you usually know right off the bat who this is about.

There were many authors who wrote about him, but Henry Gilbert's Robin Hood was the first book I ever read about the famous archer.

Tome Thursday: The Valentine Billionaire

Hello everyone!

It's that time again, when another Serenity Woods book is about to hit the market, or the mass market paperback has already been released, but the rest is waiting for another week or so (or in this case, about ten days).

And we love every moment of it!

Ms Woods returns to her Billionaire Princes series with her next installment, and there's only one more left after this, so buckle up and let's see where it all takes us, shall we?

Because once we've finished with this particular series of books it's on to some other heroes that will undoubtedly catch our mind and our hearts just as much as every other of the ones Ms Woods writes does.

I'm honestly really looking forward to it.

Before we can do anything, however, we do need to check in with the Princes and their up-and-coming CEO, Lucas who, if you remember, is a bit of a geek, or so he claims for himself. Whether or not he truly is remains to be seen.

We'll probably have some answer through The Valentine Billionaire, at that!

Talkie Tuesday: Ibiza

"We are going to party all night!

Hello everyone!

In a slight departure for me I have a different movie review for you tonight, and I say departure because normally I don't touch movies like these.

I mean, I can see the appeal of them for large market audiences, but the style has just never suited me and probably never will, if I'm being honest.

However, a good friend of mine recommended I watch it, specifically for Richard Madden, so I was like, you know what, okay, what have I got to lose, really?

Nothing much, because at the end of the experiment this is the kind of movie where you turn your brains off and end up hopefully laughing some while you're at it! Which in essence makes it a little bit similar to what Hallmark puts out, actually.

Now THERE'S a thought!

So without further ado, let's just hop right into Ibiza, shall we?
