Tome Thursday: Charlie's Christmas Angels

Hello everyone!

Not sure about you, but I'm kind of blown away by how fast the year's gone by. I mean, only one more day left and we'll be in 2022 already!

Where has the time gone?

To wrap up this blogging year - as the next post falls on New Year's Day - I picked up something extra special.

Well, alright, I was sent something extra special, but I wasn't the only one, because if you're subscribed to Serenity Woods' newsletter, you got a very special short story somewhere mid-December as a Christmas treat.

Yes, I am in fact going back to Ms Woods to wrap this year up nice and tight with a bow on top!

So without further ado, I'm going to stop blathering about unimportant information, and jump right into it.

Because Charlie's Christmas Angels wait for no one!

Links to previous themed book reviews and other related Serenity Woods content will be at the bottom of this page, as always.

And as this IS very much related, well, you should probably at least refresh your memory just a smidge.

See, Charlie's Christmas Angels is connected to the world of The Billionaire Kings, which is interconnected to the Three Wise Men AND The Billionaire Princes, but it's the Kings you have to pay attention to, as this is Maia's story.

Remember Maia? She's Stefan's sister, and daughter of Elise and Nikau from the book Casanova, and in My Christmas Billionaire, we learn that her boyfriend of some time forced himself on her when an argument got out of hand.

Yeah, I know.

Maia takes time off from work to recover afterwards, and given that her parents are quite wealthy that's not an issue at all, before she lands at the hospital as none other than Charlie King's assistant.

Now if you know ANYTHING about Charlie, even back from the days of his youth in An Ideal Present, you'll know he may have started off as a bit socially awkward because he's pretty much on the spectrum, but has since somehow managed to grow into the most incorrigible matchmaker of the three King brothers.

I kid you not! Anytime there's something romantic to solve, Charlie's bound to be sniffing around it somewhere, and I love it. He's probably my favourite King of the trio, but back to the story.

Charlie asks Maia to fill in for one of the Angels in the hospital choir as a personal favour, and she agrees, not knowing that the old matchmaker is definitely matchmaking again.

See, the only other Angel who shows up is a man named Sean, a nurse at the hospital who'll be moving to Christchurch and a new position in the new year. Ironically, Maia noticed Sean and made a comment to Charlie, and Sean noticed Charlie's cute assistant, too.

See where I'm going with this?

They carol for the sick children on the wards and then head to the cafeteria for some coffee together, at which point Sean explains that he mentioned to Charlie he might not have considered moving to Christchurch if he'd known the guy had such a pretty assistant. Combined with the fact that Maia herself asked about Sean one time, and well, they gave Charlie just enough ammunition to work his Christmas magic!

But first, reality needs to check in - even if Sean's been promoted, since, you know, Charlie and matchmaking and reasonable decisions made - with Maia explaining that she won't be able to give Sean what he might be looking for, as she's still recovering from her assault.

Sean being the good guy that he is though, and a prime example of good guys all around the world, says he isn't going anywhere and they have time.

They also have mistletoe to kiss under, but that's just the icing on the cake, really.

And it's where we leave them, hopeful for the future that might have something good in store for the both of them, and thankful that Charlie King knows a thing or two about people who may just need a light nudge to end up perfectly happy.

I don't really have much else to say about either this short story or Ms Woods' writing, as it's always superb, so I'll leave you all with my own well-wishes.

May 2022 bring you what you need, and may your homes be filled with love, laughter and joy.

Cheers!

xx
