Tome Thursday: Time's Orphan

Hello everyone!

I bring you something good.

Something really, REALLY good!

Remember how, every once in a while on this blog, I'd toss up the review of a really good fantasy book that tells the story of three people blessed with magic - fire magic, shadow magic, healing magic - and then it would all disappear again?

Well, I'm back with it, baby!

And guess what?

We made it to the end.

That's right, tonight's book is the final in the Odriel's Heirs trilogy, so you best believe that it brought its A-game to the show, and what an A-game it was!

I've said this before but I'll say it again: some books just stick with you.

Time's Orphan is going to stick with you for a long, long time.

Tome Thursday: Night of Ash

Hello everyone!

This week I bring you an early review of an ARC I was so very, very kindly sent by an author that's grown quite near and dear to my heart since we started chatting back when her first book released.

And let me tell you, MAN, it's getting hot in here!

I've reviewed every single one of the books in the series thus far on this blog and I don't see myself stopping now at the end, because why would I?

The end is going to be the very best part after all!

The third book is literally just around the corner at this moment in time, but thankfully we get a little short tale in between two and three to tide us over, like we did with the short story back between one and two as well.

All of it rounds to five lovely, LOVELY stories, and if you aren't hooked on a grumpy talking cat yet (who's actually a biped that was cursed into a cat for a hundred years) then I really don't know what to tell you.

So without further ado, let's put our sunnies on and wear that SPF, because Night of Ash brings the heat!

Tome Thursday: Idriel's Children

Hello everyone!

I return, and I bring goodies.

Pretty much just before my vacation starts - and let me tell you I'm excited for THAT - I've finished reading another one of those books that's just a must-have even though you would think that there's so many floating around that it's just another.

But no.

It isn't just another.

I was super surprised when Hayley Reese Chow reached out to me to review the continuation of her Odriel's Heirs saga, and obviously I said yes. You don't say no when an opportunity like that comes knocking.

I do owe the author a small apology though since it took me a bit to get to the sequel, but it's here now, and around all the packing and insanity happening all around, let's have a look at just what makes Idriel's Children such a good book, shall we? It's time to dive into some fantasy mayhem, some low-key kind of dangerous stuff, and say hi to a sarcastic cat.

Tome Thursday: Burning Shadows

Hello everyone!

I have to say I've been extremely lucky in my blogging choices, because they've led me to where I am today, and where I am is that I'm on good terms with several pretty amazing authors, contemporary and fantasy alike, and that leads to some awesome collaborations.

This means I get fortunate enough to be sent an ARC of their works, which I can then review as soon as I end up finding the time.

Which I always do, and PRONTO.

Last year at some point, I was contacted by the lovely Hayley Reese Chow asking whether or not I'd be interested in reading her fantasy novel, Odriel's Heirs, and I mean ... fantasy, y'all. What else do you say but HECK YES?

I've since been waiting patiently on the sequel, and the truth of the matter is we aren't just getting a sequel, oh no, no, no.

There's a sequel novella AND the sequel!

So strap on those swords and come have a look at Burning Shadows with me, alright? Time to go kill some undead.

Tome Thursday: The Gatekeeper of Pericael

Hello everyone!

This week's book blog is an absolute gem.

Because every once in a while in your life, you get extremely lucky.

I'm fortunate enough that, about a year ago last year, I was contacted through Goodreads by the lovely, lovely Hayley Reese Chow asking if I'd like to read the ARC for her upcoming fantasy book.

I said yes.

DUH.

And towards the end of 2020, she reached out once again, with another fantasy book, except this one is geared more towards middle graders, but keep in mind that I don't really know these rankings all that well because I'm not American.

I do know that when the protagonist is 12 though, that it's PROBABLY meant for a fairly specific audience haha.

But don't worry! It's an absolute blast to read even if you're an adult. So let's open the door and check out The Gatekeeper of Pericael.

Tome Thursday: Odriel's Heirs

Hello everyone!

In this week's book review, we take a look at a tome that hasn't actually been published yet.

That's right, I'm talking about another advanced reader's copy which I was lucky enough to be gifted.

I've been going through a few at this time, I still have one I have to finish, but out of the lot this might be my favourite, probably because it's a fantasy novel, and fantasy, as you all know, is one of those things I THOROUGHLY enjoy.

So what do you do when there's a dark sorcerer/demon rising, there's another army you've got to deal with before you can even begin to contemplate how you'll kick him back to kingdom come, and you're missing the third part of your trifecta to be successful?

Well, you kind of start an epic journey. And hope beyond hope that everything's going to end well as you do it.

While you're at it, you also listen to the advice of one crusty cat, and help keep him warm when the snow starts falling.

All that, and more, is what we're going to find in Odriel's Heirs.
