Talkie Tuesday: Snow White and the Huntsman

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?"

Hello everyone!

I seem to be swimming in older movies recently, as tonight's pick is almost ten years old.

Sometimes you just have to circle back and find things that you thought you didn't enjoy, watch them again, and then make a decision about it.

I think the only sin this movie would be guilty of is the fact that it was released around the same time as another on the same topic, Mirror Mirror, and of the two it seemed that the latter one knew what it wanted to be and to do, whereas this one was kind of stuck in between genres.

That said though, it isn't as bad as everyone made it sound at the time, and even my own personal opinion changed while I watched it.

There really are some things which you look at differently over time, after all, and I think time has actually helped this one a lot.

Time is a magical thing like that.

Snow White and the Huntsman is probably the biggest example of it.

Talkie Tuesday: Atomic Blonde

"It's a double pleasure to deceive the deceiver."

Hello everyone!

This week's choice of movie is heavily influenced by the fact that my sister was home for the weekend and ended up watching it on television in my room.

Now, usually, I'd just do my own thing on the computer while she was at it, but I got sucked into the story, and then some.

I mean, it IS Charlize Theron though.

The woman looks too good to be true.

I want whatever she's having.

And while I'm at it, let me tell you all about the little movie she did back in 2017 (geez, is it almost 5 years ago already?) that, apparently, also has a sequel in development! This is exciting news because the movie is absolutely fantastic.

Convoluted, but fantastic.

It's called Atomic Blonde, and BOY, is it atomic!

Talkie Tuesday: The Huntsman - Winter's War

"Love ends in betrayal. Always."

Hey everyone!

I am once again back with another movie review, and since I seem to be on a Chris Hemsworth binge at the moment (not entirely sure why, but that's what's happening in my life right now) I figured I'd dig up that one that I'd watched a while ago but never honestly got to before.

Namely, the prequel/sequel to Snow White, which starred Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart, titled The Huntsman: Winter's War.

I was actually fairly excited about the prospect of a movie which would tell us more about the Hunstman proper, since in the original, I think he only spoke about a handful of words. Actually, the entire MOVIE went by with only about a dozen sentences being said by any of the actors and actresses in there, with a whole lot of visuals and dark music and whatnot.

It wasn't exactly bad, persay, but it certainly didn't make me think epic thoughts.

So when this sequel was announced, and especially after that cheating scandal emphasised this would be a break from the original in a way, well, I was hooked.
