"The path will be clear if you search inside."
Hello everyone!
In a slight deviation from my usual watch lists, I went with something light, fluffy, and quick to see through yesterday.
And also, I had TONS of fun while I was at it haha!
Disney tends to come up with some really great skits every once in a while.
When they pair it up with LEGO? Oh then you've got yourself something SPECIAL.
I've covered a bunch of Star Wars-related ones on this page before, but this is the first time I'm seeing something with the Disney Princesses, and boy was it fun to go through.
I mean, when you have a frying pan, an axe, and a key as weapons all tangled together in a quest to beat Gaston .. let's just say it'll make sense once you finish reading this.
Without further ado: LEGO Disney Princess Castle Quest!
Since I haven't done anything similar in the Disney world involving the princesses, there aren't any links at the bottom of the page the way they normally would be.
Instead, we'll hop right into it.
Ariel, Moana, Tiana, Rapunzel and Snow White are all trying to figure out why their kingdoms are all of a sudden overtaken by dark, storm clouds.
They get transported to a castle none of them know about, where they find Triton held in a big fish tank, by none other than Gaston, who apparently didn't fall to his death when the Beast gave him that shove, but is now collecting magical items so he can rule every castle and kingdom.
Triton tells the princesses that they can't let him get hold of the trident, so they must complete three quests to beat him.
The girls split up - Ariel and Moana go through into one room of the castle after Ariel unlocks it with a key from her hair (don't ask), while Rapunzel, Snow White and Tiana go through into another. Ariel and Moana find the talking wardrobe through which they land on a deserted island where they find a treasure map, and the other three go through Tiana's father's cookbook into the Dark Forest where Snow White was originally lost in (back in her own movie, that is).
Even though Gaston conjures up more storms, Ariel and Moana make it to the treasure, where they need to rescue Magic Carpet from pirates, led by Captain Iago.
Yes, THAT Iago, the parrot from Aladdin LOL. Turns out he somehow got loose from Jafar's lamp and is now terrorizing everyone, but Moana terrorizes HIM when she fires a cannon into the bowels of his ship, causing it to sink. The girls fly off on Carpet.
The other three, meanwhile, find Flower from Bambi, who takes them in the direction of the Sundrop Flower, but they get chased by wolves in the process. Turns out, however, that Snow White speaks wolf, and the wolves eventually help them. But even then, the trees don't want to relinquish the flower, so Snow White attacks them with her axe (girl has an unusual fixation with that axe, I'm telling you LOL), and they eventually succeed.
It's now time for the third quest, but Triton knows it's a trap: Gaston reveals that it's basically non survivable, and the girls walk into a maze which keeps growing behind them as well as separating them.
They figure out that if they doubt themselves, it grows, but if they trust in themselves and each other, then it disappears.
You'd think this is the end, but nope, Gaston arrives on Maleficent in dragon form, and Tiana notices she's wounded. While Gaston wants her to fry the princesses, they help heal her wing, and she decides to zap HIM with fire instead, and eat him just because she can.
By this point, because Gaston cracked the tank glass, Triton's been out of the sea for long enough to cause worry, but Ariel asks the trident to help him, so it does, as any good inanimate object sidekick would. Triton then proclaims them official royal heroes, tells them the castle is theirs and they can reach their kingdoms through doors in each of their rooms, and that as a bonus they get to keep the Magic Mirror which previously helped Gaston along.
The princesses get all cozy in their rooms and have a big party to end the skit!
Short, sweet and to the point, but also funny and ridiculous at several ones as well, Castle Quest is a little less than an hour long but packed with enough easy adventure to amuse the whole family. There's plenty of callbacks to Disney movies, and a lot of new material, though I'm impressed they managed to get the OG voice actresses for the princesses!
All in all, not bad to watch on a quiet afternoon when you don't have anything else on your schedule.
xx
