"Hey, you, it's younger you;
When you're standing on the stars,
Just don't forget who you are ..."
Hello everyone!
I'm finally back after the insanity that was Easter - I mean, I love the holiday, don't get me wrong, and it's a great chance to spend some quality time with family, but, in all seriousness ...
It's exhausting.
LOL.
Plus, when you're working at the bakery, you're guaranteed to lose at least part of your marbles over the three days leading up to it.
Thankfully this is now over, we have plenty frozen goodies, and it's now time to finally just get back on the grind and do what needs to be done!
In this case, that would be the blogs of course.
So without further ado - we're celebrating tonight.
We get the best of both world, baby, with the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special.
I watched the OG Hannah Montana show for a little bit, but never through to the end I don't think, or never in one single run in any event.
I watched the movie, and I generally have been paying attention to Miley and what she's doing with her life.
I was actually fully supportive of her when she broke free of the Hannah Montana chains and did something all of her own!
Do I think her music diverged from what my tastes are since? Yes, but that doesn't make her a bad artist.
In fact, I firmly believe she's an OUTSTANDING artist.
And the anniversary special just confirmed it all.
It's a lovely sit-down with Alex Cooper where there's lots of reminiscing, Miley performing a few songs, both old and new, and of course seeing old clips of the show and listening to everyone talk about how it began, how it mirrored Miley's own life in many ways, and how it's evolved since.
For me, the very best parts were the performances, because cameras would focus on the audience, and you could see it was the OG fans.
You could see it based on their age.
These were people who grew up with Hannah, who maybe identified with a lot of what that show was conveying at the time, and who came back in DROVES to support their queen.
It was beautiful. It was magical.
And the song Miley performed as a little call-back to herself?
Pure emotion.
It's just under an hour long thing to watch, so I highly suggest you have a go with it. If you've ever been a Hannah Montana girlie, then this one is undoubtedly for you.
Best of both worlds, indeed.
xx
