Talkie Tuesday: The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl

"It's the circle of life."

Hello everyone!

Tonight, I have a very special blog post for you.

And no, it's not because it's really long, or intricately detailed, or hyperlinked into outer space.

It's because it's so nostalgic.

Or at least, it's generally nostalgic, I should think, and should be for pretty much anyone who opens it up to read it, unless you've just crawled out of your diapers and need time to learn this subject some more, in which case come back in a couple of years.

But I digress.

Disney Plus being what it is - big corporation background aside - you can watch pretty much anything and everything your heart desires on it. Tonight's choice is no exception.

So without further ado, let's travel down memory lane, with The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl.

I have yet to put anything OG-movie related onto this blog, so there won't be any links at the bottom of the page.

I also won't really bore you to tears with waxing poetic about this stuff, because what I mostly want out of you is to go watch the show.

When I tell you I started bawling the very second the first notes of Circle of Life echoed around the Bowl and out of my television ...

There are some stories that stay with you forever. The Lion King is one of those, no matter how many iterations it gets as time goes by. The original animated movie, featuring its ensemble cast and telling the story of a young lion finding his strength, his courage, his family, and most importantly, his own sense of self, is beyond anything that modern day could ever cook up.

But also, complementing this so well are inserts from the Broadway musical production, which adds a touch of theatre magic to the entire thing, and THAT is an achievement not many can boast.

Also no, Jeremy Irons, you're never going to get pelted with cabbage, no matter what you do.

Stunning, passionate, nostalgic, and magical, The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl brings the story full circle like Disney probably couldn't have ever imagined it. When cameras pan across the audience, you can clearly tell just who grew up with the original movie, who's singing all the songs the loudest, and who has tears in their eyes seeing it all come to life before them now.

It's an experience you don't ever want to pass on or sleep on, so I definitely urge you to have a look.

After all - it's the greatest stories that keep this world turning, accompanied by the best music there is.

xx
